Can't really trust the offside comments section so I thought I would ask this here. Just how bad of a RB is Rosi?

Rosi's all right, chewna. He's going through a dodgy patch, though. I think the persistent changing of coaches and tactics has messed him up a bit. He seems a bit dumb, which makes him an inaccurate player - a real problem for a fullback - and his one-vs-one tackling isn't great. At the moment I think he's thinking about his game too much - partly a lack of confidence, partly the result of having been given too many things to think about. Give him a run in a settled and relatively simple structure and he'll do all right. That's more likely to be at Parma than at Roma, though. He might be better at a club which plays with wing-backs too.

I suspect were Bradley Italian he'd have been very close to Prandelli's squad for the Euros.

I'd agree with you there, Maro. I know I'm always a Rosi critic, but it's not because I think he's that bad, just that I don't think he's good enough for a Scudetto/CL-aspiring team. I like intelligent players, and Rosi's understanding of the game is just not that advanced. That said, at the likes of Parma he could develop into an excellent, mid-level player. He'd do all right in England as well, I think. Certainly, I see him flourishing under more of a Ranieri-type than an LE one. I'd have no problem with him staying in Rome as 2nd choice, but I think that he could really have a nice career for himself elsewhere and so would like to see him get that chance.

As for Bradley, I'm gonna be tough on him for the commercial aspect of the deal and because his dad seems like a dick rather than any problem with the man himself. It seems to have worked though; two friends, one in NY and one in Chicago both wrote to me to chat about Roma signing an American, even though neither would usually have any interest in Serie A.

I think purely as a footballer - purely for footballing reasons - Bradley was an excellent signing. We shall see, but I think he's a very good, steady player - like Brighi, sure, but Brighi 7 years ago and in a team-shape which is likely to suit such a player rather more than one with a DDR-Pizza axis ever quite could. That Bradley's also American may bring commercial advantages too, but in my opinion he's exactly the sort of player a competitive squad needs.

If Rosi goes - which I think he's almost certain to - then I can see him flying under the radar for a couple of years and then popping up in the papers as one of the 'stars' when his team suddenly puts together a good set of results. Then he'll get talked about for the Azzurri, perhaps even make a couple of squads, perhaps make a moderately expensive move to a 'big'(gish) club and then drift away again. That period will see lots of Roman gnashing of teeth, but will finally prove to be the exception rather than the rule. Had we had one coach for the past five years, rather than five, I think he might have made it as a solid Roma player, but I fear I'm going to be proved wrong on him (have already been proved wrong on him), and he's never quite going to make it.

Rosi-Part of Rosi's problem is he gets himself so involved in the game that his weaknesses are glaring. If he were just a flat out poor player he might be able to hide in plain site. But he's inexhaustible and constantly getting himself in a position to help the team...and then he let's you down.

He's this years whipping boy. I'm not happy he's being sold. But lord knows I'm happy he won't be in our starting 11.

Bradley- I actually thought he was poor for much of last nights game and that Pools goal can be attributed to him. I also stand by what I've been saying for a few weeks. He will be a solid bench player and help this team. He's played in some big games in his career already and tends to play up to the competition.

I also think he can be sold in 2 years for more than we paid. In the meantime, if he sells a few shirts and picks us up some fans, I'm not going to hold that against him.

My thoughts on Rosi are pretty clear i think, and I agree with pretty much everything Maro said about him. Some of the abuse he's been getting on twitter and other places is disgusting. The man never shies away from a challenge or never hides, like DCG said, even after losing the ball or ballooning a shot over the bar like he did last night, he will still bomb forward and be there to take the pass or make the run (and then make the same mistake again). His decision making is his worst aspect, I think. Too often he makes the wrong decision or the wrong pass or misses out on a challenge. He wasn't great last night, and got skinned too easily a few times. As I've said, though, I don't see him as starting material, but he is a good player to have in the squad and his sheer athleticism and power makes him a good squad player for Zeman.

I've given Bradley a hard time, like Colly, for the commercial aspect, but I do agree he is a solid player and a good addition to the squad. He's not a starter, though, but a good sub. Bradley was poor last night – I said to DCG that his goal will make a lot of people/sources say he played great cos he scored, but all round he wasn't too impressive for me and didn't offer enough as mezz'ala.

I was very impressed with Tachtsidis, the lad is a monster. He has the work rate and the power to make him a top-class defensive-midfielder but he's also quite good on the ball, and his vision and awareness in last nights game was impressive. I think he's gonna be a big player for us.

as much as i hate to admit it, since i liken myself to him more than any other player, rosi's pretty dumb. he had a better season now than most give him credit for, though, and he was probably one of the few players to exceed expectations; his stretch with montella wasn't bad either. not what it could and should have been, but certainly there was progress. whether it would have continued under zeman is a different question, and i would have quite liked to see him go out on loan to a parma or siena for this season to prove himself. alas, it looks like the move is happening. i will miss this fucker a lot. one of my all-time favorite players.

Burdisso, De Rossi, Totti - one per 'line': they're likely to be just about the only three in the whole squad, certainly in the starting 11, who were in the club's first-team squad two seasons ago. I guess Lobotomy and Toady. Any others - assuming Rosi, Perrotta, Pizza, Borriello, Okaka . . . are shown the door?

I suppose Julio Sergio was there, battling with Doni. He's still on the books now, right, if not quite in the plans? Its certainly all changed. But I suppose a lot of those players from that squad were coming to the end of their time, while others moved on, and the squad had been patched together for quite a while and so there was a feeling that a big change was needed. You wouldn't have thought it would change this much, though.

It was the oldest squad in the league when Rosella finally pissed off. All the changes are mad though. I am very excited about this season now.
