I thought he did pretty well towards the end of the season; he struggled as did most of the players under AVB. I think he's a powerful and experienced player. I'm not saying I like him - I wouldn't put him anywhere near Crescenzi, but that's more because he has the face of someone who likes playing with youngsters just a little bit too much, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, a nod's as good as a wink to a blind man. I just think - as I did with Clichy - that we're talking about a player who at his best is very, very good. I'm not sure we've had any fullbacks in the past 10 years who fit that - of course Max and Cassetti did very well for Spags; Riise had some good stretches. I suppose Panucci's the only really top-class player we've had at fullback since Cafu and Candela, though, no?

Perhaps ye are right. All I know is that he's coming off a very poor season for Chelski and he looked liked a player who's race was run. But perhaps with a change of scenery, a pre-season to recuperate and a fresh start he could come good. I just doubt he can get back to his very best, and he's not a player I particularly like in anyways. (actually why wasn't he playing for Portugal at the Euro's? It must have been fitness? That right-back they had playing for them was muck).

thanks for that video, ed, i enjoyed watching it. i thought back to cassetti's comments from last summer, when all the fuss was being made about LE's "physically challenging training," and he laughed and said it was nothing compared to zeman's stuff.

Con un comunicato apparso sul proprio sito ufficiale, il Padova annuncia l'acquisizione in prestito di Federico Viviani, come anticipato ieri da Vocegiallorossa.it: Il Calcio Padova informa che nella mattinata di oggi è stato perfezionato il passaggio in biancoscudato del centrocampista classe 1992 Federico Viviani dalla Roma al Padova. Il giocatore è stato trasferito con la formula del prestito con diritto di riscatto della comproprietà da parte del Padova e contro riscatto da parte della società capitolina.

His agent talking about the move , saying Viviani is sad to leave Roma as he was looking forward to working with Zeman, but he's excited to go to Padova. He said he will definitely be back as he's only signed a new five-year deal with us.

Official deals on Viviani and Florenzi. I was wondering how Florenzi was training with the squad all week even those his 'return' from Crotone wasn't official.

Thanks for all the updates, Shield. It's kind of weird seeing the images and not knowing who a lot of the guys are. Some of the 'old' guys are unmistakeable, of course (especially Taddei!)

I'm a bit surprised about some of the youngsters exiting; I guess we'll have to trust in Zeman.
