His loan did end, but I think we are taking up the option to buy him.

- Pazzini could go back to Sampdoria (on loan). - Could see this happening.
- If we do let go of J.Cesar, AC may offer him a contract. - Out of spite, we probably would not let him go if this is the case, but I think this is just all media bull.
- Also Internacional have denied they are in talks with us over Forlan. - Me thinks they are waiting for us to let him go so they can pick him up on a free.

Aye, Forlan can be considered an ex-Inter player as of tomorrow.
Not releasing JC before getting Handanovic was a good move since otherwise Udinese would have gained a position of strength in the deal, and we all know they have been after Coutinho for some time. Now that the deal is done, the club can start talks with JC over his release. It is unthinkable to spend 11M + half Faraoni whilst keeping JC on their books. Sad but we have to move on.
Presumably next week will be Maicon's week too. Too bad we don't have much of an alternative there, unless we are actually putting faith in Jonathan...
The average age of the squad is going down, as is it's technical quality.

Well half Faraoni is valued 2.5-3 M. That means that Handanovic cost us 14M + 2M a year (4m including tax). It makes sense because Handanovic is regarded as one of the best keepers in Europe and his price & wage were still within our budget, especially if you rid off those 18M in JC's wages. Maybe one can discuss whether this was the right moment to do so..
Lavezzi was unaffordable, first because he was valued 30M not 20M, then his wage expectations would have been that of a top player..which I'm afraid we'll not afford.
We are not aiming to win trophies, but to get a CL position. In that aspect, makes sense to get both him and Palacio instead of just Lavezzi.

JC has been great for us. It's a shame it has to end like this, but this is football and the club has to do what it thinks will make us stronger.

So now its almost official that we got Handanovic, Silvestre & Mudingayi. The first two are currently doing the medical test whereas Mudingayi's agent came out declaring the deal is practically complete. It's a good thing to get the team together from the very beginning instead of waitkng till the very last hour of august...
Now it's time to 'rid' ourselves from the old guard...as much as we'd regret this, it's the right thing to do.

Moratti excited by ‘year zero’ Inter

Massimo Moratti is counting down the days to the new season, excited by his new project underway at Inter.

The President is overseeing significant changes to the Nerazzurri’s the playing staff this summer, with the likes of Douglas Maicon, Julio Cesar, Diego Forlan and Giampaolo Pazzini all rumoured to be following Lucio out of the door.

In their place is expected to arrive Samir Handanovic and Matias Silvestre, who will join already confirmed Rodrigo Palacio and Fredy Guarin.

Alongside new Coach Andrea Stramaccioni, who took over in the closing stages of last term, Moratti is eager to see how the new-look side perform.

“This new Inter excites me and they will win,” declared the President to Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We are changing things without losing sight of what our goals are, to reclaim Italy and Europe.

“We are Inter and we want to start winning again. [Coach Andrea] Stramaccioni is our symbol. He’s a young man. I’m really very confident.

“Stramaccioni is a talented Coach with a strong background, he has knowledge and passion. As a Coach and a person he is credible and reliable. For all this, he seemed the right choice.”

Moratti reflected on the changes being made, his hopes for bringing in some faces from the club’s youth set-up and the contradiction that demands will be high from the very beginning.

“Let’s say that everything now is a fresh start, with a clear idea to put us in a position to do well, so yes, this is a ‘year zero’. It is a new beginning that had and brings enthusiasm that comes from an idea of play that has a clear and precise line - for this I am convinced that we can start well.

“I feel so much confidence, and even as this new step has an amount of risk it should not be scary, it should excite us more.

“Among [the new faces] will certainly be some from our youth team, from the success of the primavera and other categories. We will always need patience because it is not always easy.

“When I see new youngsters on the field, I have the same expectations I have for a new signing.

“I don’t want to be presumptuous. We have embraced an idea and that will apply first for us. The rest will come later. But, the goal is to win again this year, as always.”

The President also reflected that he hopes to win back the support of the club’s fans.

“Our fans are intelligent and discerning. They will be curious as to see this new course I have started Inter on. We want excitement around the team and the Coach. They behave themselves and I think that they will give support to the boys.

“Who comes and who stays will have the right credentials. Who we are signing, to me, must have certification of good conduct.

“Palacio I like. He has a lot of career goals and that matters a lot. Handanovic is a very reliable goalkeeper.”

Julio Cesar-Inter: It’s over

Julio Cesar is set to leave Serie A after he was not included in the squad for Inter’s pre-season training camp.

The Brazilian no longer features in the plans of the club and the outfit will soon officially complete the signing of Udinese ‘keeper Samir Handanovic.

Cesar has this week insisted that he wants to see out the two years of his contract at San Siro, but that now seems unlikely.

“We will go into the training camp with other goalkeepers,” Inter director general Marco Fassone stated.

“We understand Julio Cesar’s point of view, but in looking at the squad list you can see that we have made a very clear decision.

“We know how to look after these situations.”

Cesar could now be sold or, alternatively, have his contract rescinded. If the latter occurs, Inter may insert a clause which would stop him joining city rivals Milan.

The South American was netted by Inter in January 2005 from Flamengo. After an initial six-month loan spell at Chievo, he returned to the Meazza and eventually replaced Francesco Toldo as the No 1.

The almost 33-year-old could now move to England or possibly back to his homeland in Brazil.
