I've just been watching a re-run of the Copa Libertadores first-leg final (second-leg is on Wednesday or something i think) on Setanta, and Leandro Castan was playing centre-back. First time I've seen him play, he looks solid, good positional sense and a dominating defender and leader of the Corinthians defence. Apparently he's worshipped by the fans, too. He could be a good signing for us. He also holds an Italian passport. I don't think the deal is wrapped up for him quite yet, but there is an agreement and a fee of €6m mentioned and it'll likely be official once the Copa Libertadores second-leg is done.

Whats the deal with Bradley and Tachtsidis? Do we really need to sign both of them? Bradley is a good player, of course, and could be a good addition to the squad as back-up to DDR. Don't know much about Tachtsidis – but it seems Zeman requested him. He sounds like Zeman's sort of midfielder: an all round grafter and hustler who's comfortable on the ball.

Pity to see Greco move on. He could have done well for Zeman, I think. If we do sign both of Bradley and Tachtsidis then its gonna look a little busy in the midfield department:

Domani il Centro Sportivo "Fulvio Bernardini" di Trigoria riaprirà i cancelli per accogliere la nuova Roma 2012-2013, targata Zdenek Zeman. Entro le 9 di martedì mattina è atteso l'arrivo dei calciatori. Un solo volto nuovo, quello del terzino brasiliano Dodò, prelevato a parametro zero dal Corinthians, e tante facce note.

Ci saranno anche i possibili epurati, quei nomi illustri che (per vari motivi) non rientrano nel progetto tecnico del boemo. Tra questi Julio Sergio, Brighi, Guberti, Pizarro, Borriello. E con loro tanti altri, in cerca di riscatto dopo la deludente stagione targata Luis Enrique. Francesco Totti, a 35 anni e mezzo, guiderà ancora il gruppo all'alba della sua ventunesima annata in maglia giallorossa.

Non ci saranno ovviamente Daniele De Rossi e Fabio Borini, reduci dall'agrodolce avventura agli Europei di Ucraina e Polonia. Gli azzurri, protagonisti di un cammino avvincente chiusosi con la fragorosa sconfitta in finale con la Spagna, godranno di un meritato periodo di vacanza e si aggregheranno al gruppo solo agli inizi di agosto.

I presume those who's futures are unclear like Julio Sergio, Brighi, Guberti, Pizarro and Borriello have to go along to.

says there are potentially 46 players available to Zeman, but only 33 will be at Trigoria in the morning. It also says that figure will be cut by another three so there's a total of 30 going to Brunico, with Viviani, Piscitella and Stoian not going to training camp in advance of potential negotiations as were looking to loan them out to gain experience. Greco and Brighi won't also go as they are for sale. DDR and Borini won't be there, obviously, while Stekelenburg is expected back around 10 July. Antei will also be absent as he is injured.

The Brazilian website are reporting that we reached a deal to sign Leandro Castan from Corinthians two weeks ago, and its all done and dusted. He'll cost €5.5m and will sign a four-year contract.

Will Dodo be our first choice left back do people think? Jose Angel looked promising at times last season, going forward especially, but was pretty inconsistent, although he wasn't alone; doesn't sound like Enrique paid too much attention to the defence.

Probably will be that back four alright. Jose Angel-Burdisso-Castan-Rosi. Angel didn't have a good first season with us and question marks remain over his defensive capabilities and his mentality, but he's still probably likely to be our first choice left-back, if he stays (he's been linked with a move back to Spain). Dodo has a lot of promise but may take time to settle.

Then there's also Crescenzi, who will have his chance to impress Zeman at pre-season camp. even suggests Crescenzi may even be a starter, as he has a lot of attributes – a great engine, athletic, good timing and a very good cross – that are vital to for Zeman's full-backs in his 4-3-3 system.

We're also being linked with several names for a new right-back, so we may see someone come in there, although I don't think we need anyone. Rosi is likely to be a starter – word has it Zeman is a big fan of him, he likes his mobility and engine to overlap and get beyond the midfielders. Crescenzi can also play on the right, too.

Kjaer's future is also still unclear, but even if he does stay he may not be a starter.
