Defensive revamp for Inter

Inter appear poised to completely overhaul their backline with deals for Matias Silvestre and Aleksandar Kolarov in the offing.

Both Milan clubs are said to be interested in Palermo stopper Silvestre but, according to the Sicilian outfit's President, Inter have been more proactive in their efforts to land the Argentine.

“Silvestre has asked to leave and we will try to please him,” revealed Maurizio Zamparini in an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.

“Inter have taken important steps towards the player, while Milan have simply shown an interest.”

Meanwhile, the left-back berth could be filled by former Lazio defender and set-piece specialist Kolarov. The Serb fell behind Gael Clichy in the Manchester City pecking order towards the end of the season and today's La Repubblica asserts that former Nerazzurri boss Roberto Mancini will not stand in the way of a loan deal.

Offloading defenders is proving less simple however. Brazilian duo Lucio and Maicon have both professed a desire to leave, but as yet no agreement has been found with Fenerbahce for the former and the idea of paying €8m for a 31-year-old is said to have scared suitors such as Chelsea away from the latter.

Sacchi: No faith in our youth

Youth player Samuele Longo has raised eyebrows at Inter, but Arrigo Sacchi believes his is an example of the lack of faith in young players in Italy.

Striker Longo has attracted attention and praise for his performances this term for Inter’s youth team and was handed his senior debut for the Nerazzurri in the final game of last season under his former youth Coach Andrea Stramaccioni.

However, Sacchi believes that at 20, Longo should have already been in the team long ago and that he serves as an example of the wasted talent Italy has in its youth ranks.

“If we were in another country, Longo would be playing first team football by now,” began the former Milan Coach on Mediaset today.

“When I was technical director at Real Madrid, in the field we had six Ballon d’Or winners. Yet, the crowd grumbled because the club were not playing enough Spaniards and especially those from the youth academy.

“In Italy, it is always the same story and the demand is on results, on the immediate - as a director or Coach you know that to lose two games you are liable, would you risk it?”

The former Parma man suggested that the mentality of Coaches is hitting the chances of players like Longo breaking into the first team set-up in the peninsula.

“The problem is that by playing safe like this, they often create devasting effects on the economic balance at the club, not to mention on sporting projects. Longo, he is not only penalised by this situation, but he is an interesting young player, a former Under-19, who has made his debut for the Under-21s.

“He is a modern attacker, has technical qualities and he has the ability to combine these abilities to put himself at the availability of his team.

“He’s a professional guy too, which is another important aspect. He’s a little shy, but a safe prospect.”

Sacchi finished with some advice for his former city rivals.

“Inter must have a game-plan, not one of the puzzles that too often make up Italian teams, who have unfinished projects where the young players suffer the most.

“It is no coincidence that in our quest to get to the next European Under-21 Championships that we had five players from Pescara, because they have this year played at the top of their League throughout.

“And so, I recommend to plan long term, look for a fun game in which aspiring youngsters like Longo and others can come in. It would be much easier for them to express their qualities.”

Da qualche anno a questa parte ormai, è sicuro: l’Inter ha il miglior settore giovanile d’Italia. Nomi come Destro, Bonucci, Balotelli, Andreolli e Santon, dimostrano come la società nerazzurra si sia mossa in modo eccellente sulla formazione di un vivaio pronto per i grandi palcoscenici. Manca la valorizzazione purtroppo. Tutti i nomi precedentemente elencati, guarda caso, sono lontani dalla Pinetina: svenduti, snobbati, usati per fare cassa. Così, anni di lavoro vanno via col vento del calciomercato e della “Rifondation”.

Da poco la nostra primavera è riuscita a guadagnarsi con un roboante 4-3 sul Milan, un posto nella finale del Campionato Primavera Tim-Trofeo “Giacinto Facchetti”, lo scudetto delle cantere. Un partita emozionate, conclusasi al 122’, con una tripletta di Samuele Longo, che ha già assaporato il gusto della Serie A, con quei venti minuti concessi da Mister Stramaccioni contro la Lazio. Conoscevamo tutti le sue qualità, ma ieri ha proprio esagerato! Tre gol da bomber di razza. Fisicità, esplosività, freddezza, senso del gol, dribbling, ottimi tempi di inserimento, ne fanno un giocatore già pronto per la Serie A, e sicuramente il migliore della sua rosa. Sempre con la speranza che la società non decida di dare seguito alla politica disastrosa degli ultimi due anni, cercando di non creare un nuovo caso Destro.

Un altro giocatore già pronto per le grandi piazze è il mediano Alfred Duncan. Un concentrato di intelligenza tattica, tenacia, grinta, forza fisica. I paragoni con Vieira, Emerson, Gattuso, sono d’obbligo. È il cuore pulsante del centrocampo nerazzurro, ed è onnipresente: smista sulla mediana, rompe il gioco, spazza dalla propria area di rigore, ed è un pericolo costante in fase offensiva. Il degno erede di Cambiasso.

C’è poi il gioiellino Daniel Bessa. Piedi da trequartista d’oro, tecnica sopraffina e visione di gioco atlantica. Uno Sneijder meno propenso al tiro (ma non per questo meno letale nelle conclusioni dalla distanza) e più all’assist. Passaggi di prima, lanci, filtranti, triangolazioni, tacchi: queste le pietanza per palati fini che offre nelle sue prestazioni: teniamocelo stretto!

Un giocatore convincente è Marko Livaja, un’eccellente seconda punta, dotato di tanta cattiveria agonistica (nel senso buono della parola) e di un’ottima tecnica individuale. Per caratteristiche è similare a giocatori come Vucinic, Mutu, Di Michele. Segna e fa segnare, recupera tanti palloni, pressa ed è molto propositivo nei disimpegni. “Rischia” seriamente di diventare un’ ottima pedina del futuro scacchiere nerazzurro.

Per non parlare poi degli altri diamanti grezzi, quali Mbaye, Spendlhofer, Alborno, Romanò, Crisetig, Garritano, Kysela, Terrani, Di Gennaro, Forte, che fanno dell’Inter la squadra con il miglior organico tra le Primavere. Tutti sono già proiettati verso un promettente futuro da professionista, alcuni già tarati per le grandi piazze. Hanno bisogno di crescere, e assaggiare il campo con continuità, magari andando a rinforzare le rose delle squadre che lottano per la salvezza (con la formula del prestito), o sfruttando l’Europa League per saggiare le loro qualità in un campo internazionale.

Abbiamo un tesoro inestimabile tra le mani. Non commettiamo gli errori del passato. E chi non ci crede, è pregato di accendere la tv sabato alle 21:00 e gustarsi lo spettacolo di una Primavera mozzafiato, del futuro nerazzurro che si respira guardando un tiro di Longo, un lancio di Bessa o un tackle di Duncan. Chivu agrees to Inter stay

Cristian Chivu is set to extend his contract with Inter, as his agent reveals terms on a new deal having been agreed.

The Romanian defender’s future at the club was up for debate this summer, as his contract was set to expire at the end of June and a number of clubs were reportedly interested in his services.

However, the player’s agent has today confirmed that he has accepted the Nerazzurri’s offer of a new three-year deal, even with a €500,000 a season pay-cut.

“We have reached an agreement with Inter for the renewal,” Victor Becali told FcInter1908.it.

“Everyone thought that Chivu would leave, but they called us in at Inter and we have reached this agreement. Chivu will renew for three years at €3m a season, the agreement is final.”

Erano undici, eran giovani e forti, e sono…Campioni d’Italia! Un 3-2 in finale con la Lazio, e la primavera di Bernazzani si aggiudica il titolo di campione d’Italia, dopo la vittoria della Next Generation Series con Stramaccioni in panchina.

Tutto grazie alla classe di Bessa, alla grinta di Duncan, ai 100 polmoni di Romanò, all’opportunismo di Livaja e…Samuele Longo! Il Milito della Primavera, l’attaccante di razza che ha deciso le sorti di questa squadra. Si paragona a Torres, il bomber spagnolo, fresco di Champions League, che ora però non riesce nelle sue prestazioni a far fede ai suoi vecchi standard, ma due anni fa era uno dei più importanti attaccanti nel panorama mondiale: forza fisica, intelligenza, tecnica, elevazione, dribbling, intraprendenza, eccellenti doti balistiche e la giusta dose di egoismo. Mai paragone fu più azzeccato. Tutte caratteristiche che ha mostrato anche il nostro gioiellino in questa fantastica stagione. Fantastica anche grazie a lui.

Samuele Longo, si presenta quindi, come un attaccante completo, che farebbe comodo a qualsiasi allenatore, e in grado di integrarsi in tutti gli schemi di gioco. Chiaramente il suo meglio lo dà come prima punta, dove le doti fisiche e il dinamismo gli permettono di spadroneggiare nell’area di rigore, concretizzando i cross in rete, fare da sponda per gli inserimenti dei centrocampisti e giocare molto sul filo del fuorigioco. Inoltre è duttile. La sua velocità e la facilità nel saltare l’uomo gli consentono di giocare come esterno d’attacco, sia a destra che a sinistra. 4-3-3, 4-3-2-1, 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, non esiste schema che non sia capace di interpretare al meglio. L’interlocutore ideale di Sneijder, e il partner perfetto per Milito.

Ha bisogno di esperienza, e il miglior modo sarebbe quello di andare a riscaldare i motori in quel di Genova, sponda rossoblu (il Genoa, che detiene già metà del suo cartellino), per poi fare ritorno alla Pinetina, pronto a far parte degli undici di Stramaccioni. Tutto ciò agevolerebbe anche la trattativa in atto con Preziosi per Destro: sarebbe lui la pedina di scambio (non la vittima sacrificale) per chiudere l’affare al più presto, così da disporre in un anno di entrambi i giocatori made in Inter, provenienti dalla nostra cantera insomma, e la prova che il progetto di Moratti prende forma.

Samuele Longo, 20 anni, e altrettanti di carriera che lo aspettano. Possibilmente, con una maglia nerazzurra addosso.

Excellent news was Inter's victory in the primavera final. Some players have the potential to be important players. Let's hope we will have the required patience to see them grow and mature. Then we can either cash on them as we did with Balotelli or see them become fan favourites.

Palermo name Silvestre price

Palermo confirm that Inter are most interested in defender Matias Silvestre, but warn that they want their money back on the Argentine.

The Rosanero only bought the 27-year-old centre-back from rivals Catania a year ago, but find themselves likely to lose him this summer, with a number of clubs rumoured to be interested. One of those is Inter, as Giorgio Perinetti freely admitted today.

“It’s no secret that he is liked by many great Italian and foreign teams,” the club’s new sporting director told Radio Radio.

“The most concrete interest has been shown by Inter. Silvestre, however, was a strong investment for Palermo, who paid €7-8m and so we cannot consider offers that are inferior to these. For now there has only been talk.”

Leave Giovinco where he is, I hope he stays with Parma for another season. Is there anything concrete in Inter's ? He's meant to be one of the best young players in South America, it would be good to see these highly-rated players come to Italy.

I don't think Chelsea will be interested anymore as they have already signed Hazard and Marin. I don't see Inter signing him either. I read that Madrid are interested in him, though I have no idea where he would fit in at Madrid.

Giovinco and Gomez are our Plan B and Plan C, when our Plan A of getting Lucas will fail.
