Inter set to plan future

Inter President Massimo Moratti has warned the club will only keep those players worthy of the Nerazzurri jersey.

The Beneamata are expected to make changes this summer after ending the campaign in sixth and thus failing to qualify for the Champions League.

“The plan for the re-start? Now we'll see, gradually,” he said outside of his office in the fashion capital of Italy.

“It's not as if we'll do it all today. Now we have a period in which we can reflect on the opportunities that are there and what we can do.

“Will we start with the confirmation of Coach Andrea Stramaccioni and defender Andrea Ranocchia? Add someone else and then we are done,” he smiled. “We'll start by confirming those who deserve to stay.”

The San Siro giants began the campaign with Scudetto ambitions, but they ended up hiring three different Coaches given their faltering results.

“More than one thing influenced the season and all the responsibility is in the choices. And then the choices went badly because the ones who were selected didn't perform well,” he added.

“Of course this all gives you experience. The fault? To a certain extent it was a combination of things, but it seems to me that the players always put forward their effort.”

Moratti stated earlier this season that he blamed first Coach Gian Piero Gasperini for the subsequent problems.

Gasperini, on the other hand, criticised the club’s movement in the summer transfer window.

Inter targeting Gomez

Catania’s short winger Alejandro Gomez has reportedly caught the eye of those planning Inter’s overhaul this summer.

The 24-year-old tricky wideman, who has been at the Elefanti for two seasons and only missed three games for Vincenzo Montella’s side this term, has previously been linked with the Nerazzurri.

Sky Sport Itaila are suggesting that the interest from the Milanese, that has reportedly seen them send scouts to several Catania games, is now materialising further.

However, there is allegedly a gulf between the two clubs’ valuation of the player, with Inter said to be preparing a €6m bid against the Rossazzurri’s €10m asking price. The Sicilians paid San Lorenzo a reported €3m to bring the Argentine to Serie A in 2010.

I like the idea of getting Destro, he grew up with us and it would be good to see him play in an Inter shirt. I am quite against the idea of getting Lavezzi though, he is way too expensive.

Isla, Guarin, a regista (Sahin), Poli, Destro and a second striker/ winger (Zarate/ Gomez). This should be the shopping list IMO.

because i think Longo is going to be as good as Destro or even better .

Have many of you watched Destro play closely? Did he actually play for Inter or your primavera? How good is he? I've only seen him play in a few games for Siena and i don't think he really stood out.

I think I saw him play in just one game, which was against us. He played for the primavera and he was consistently on the score sheet for them. He is a kid and he can only benefit from playing second fiddle to Milito. With the way Strama wants us to play, I have a feeling Pazinni may be sold as we are looking for a more dynamic striker than a pure center forward.

I believe I have seen more of Longo than I have of Destro. As Briz says Longo looks like a real prospect to me. He is fleet footed, creative and has good pace. When it comes to scoring goals I don't think he is there yet but he has the raw talent. I read today that we might have first option if Destro is to be sold. If we insert such a clause for Longo's sale as well then we would be fine IMO.

1. Viviano wont come as long as JC is there. I dont see any possibility of JC leaving and I beleive selling Viviano is a good option. Our future no.1 is Bardi, currently on loan at Livorno, considered the new Buffon and already the best goalie in Serie B (at the age of 19).
2. Big no for Lavezzi..unless we pay Pandev + some 10million only....won't happen.
3. Big no for Zarate..but also a no for G.Rossi. In our financial situation, you cannot spend that amount for a player who might return only next year.
4. Destro is already a guarantee and has the room for improvement which IMO Longo doesn't have. I am always against selling outright our primavera...but if that was the situation, I'd go for Destro without a second thought. IMO Longo has some obvious physical & technical limits that he wont ever surpass. I think he will be no more than a 'Caracciolo' kind of player. Destro is in another dimension.

Report: Inter buy out Guarin

According to reports, Inter have agreed a deal with Porto to buy out Fredy Guarin for around €11m.

The Colombian midfielder joined on loan in January for six months at a cost of €1.5m.

He took several months before making his debut for the club due to an injury, but has since impressed new Coach Andrea Stramaccioni.

Sky Sport Italia claim Inter directors flew out to Portugal this week and have reached an agreement with Porto to complete the buy-out for €11m.

Lucio announces Inter exit

Lucio’s agent has revealed “it’s time to make a change, so we put in a transfer request and Inter have agreed.”

The Brazilian defender was a key figure in the Treble campaign, but has struggled this season.

“He had three excellent years at Inter and feels it’s time to make a change,” agent Sandro Becker told Brazilian side Lancenet.

“We have been working on this since last week and resumed talks on Wednesday. We put in a transfer request and Inter have agreed. Now we have to find him a new club.

“Considering the man he is and the player he is, Lucio only leaves friends behind everywhere he goes. The decision to leave came from us, but Inter understood it. This has been entirely amicable.

“He still has two years left on his contract and we know Lucio has a market value. If we find a new club, then we will talk it over and reach an agreement.

“His preference would be to play in a big European League, but you never know. There are also many clubs interested in Brazil and Lucio knows the World Cup will be here in 2014. We don’t know what his future holds.”

Inter have completed the signing of Porto midfielder Fredy Guarin, the Portuguese club have announced on their official website.

The Colombia international joins the Serie A side on a permanent basis after impressing on loan for the Nerazzurri, despite the fact that a calf problem restricted him to just six appearances for the club.

According to Porto, Inter have splashed out €11 million to secure the services of Guarin, who was on the fringes of the action at the Estadio do Dragao during the first half of the season.

"The completion of the deal is now dependent upon the player signing a contract with Inter," a Porto statement read.

Guarin's agent revealed on Wednesday that his client had been on Inter's wish list "for two years".

The 25-year-old midfielder, who joined Porto from Saint-Etienne in 2008, has 36 international caps to his name, scoring two goals in the process.
