Of course they're not unknown players. Borini lit up the Championship for Swansea and was gaining a lot of interest before he signed for Parma. Lamela – along with Ricardo Alvarez – was the most highly sought after player in Argentina and had a host of big clubs after his signature. Angel was well known playing for Sporting and a Spanish Under-21 international and highly regarded.

Again, no one here "wanted LE to fail badly", and I think that is true for most fans. Sure, there may be some hardcore tifosi or those from an older generation who weren't impressed with his appointment, but I doubt there were very many at all who wanted him to fail from the outset. There's a big difference with being unimpressed with him for the job he's done so far, and nothing wrong with criticising him for it.

I don't understand your argument. Are you suggesting that because I didn't know Barca wanted Lamela that he's not good or he wasn't known?

Because I would submit to you that the fact that Barca wanted him at 13 by definition precludes the idea that he was plucked from obscurity. To say nothing of the fact that he shined in the Copa, played for one of the biggest clubs on the continent and we paid a handsome price for him.

But none of that was even my point. I've been an LE apologist and I'm not saying fire him now. I don't really care about our record.

I do care:

That in game management has not been that great.

That subs appear to come too late and rarely turn the tide.

That our away record is poor.

That we seem to do worse against opponents the second time around.

And that we tend to score early or not at all.

I view all that as directly tied to the manager.

Just catching up. Wow, it really took LE a long time to answer the first question in the press conference. Awkward.

I was willing to give LE time, which is a luxury a lot of Italian managers don't get, but games like that Rube blowout don't instill confidence.

So Totti is included in the despite suffering from flu (which he caught from Stek it seems). Still unclear if he'll be well enough to start. If not then Pjanic will likely play at trequartista behind Osvaldo and Borini (as both Lamela and Bojan are suspended). We're actually short of attacking options for a change so I wonder if we'll see Pigliacelli or Tallo make an appearance today? Proietti Gaffi, our young goalkeeper, has also got a call up.

Its actually a big game for Curci. He done very well when he came on against Juventus and made a few decent saves. He hasn't started for us since, what, 2007 I don't think? He could be playing for his future here and to show LE that he is capable of being at least our number two and a reliable back-up, so hope he does well.

Also, most predictions saying Heinze will get a recall to the defence with DDR moving back to midfield at the expense of Gago.

What an utter shambles. Our defence is getting worse. Actually getting worse. The players have no confidence or belief in themselves, and maybe not in LE. This could be the end.

Osvaldo straight red, too, so he's suspended for Napoli along with Lamela and DDR, who was booked. What a shambles.
