Buona Pasqua a tutti. For those long time members, I just wanted to let you all know that my cousin, Pino, is here with us for a short time. He came with his daughter, who is 22, but his wife decided to remain in Italy. We met his plane in New York and we remained with my old bag of a mother in law for Easter. Pino will then come home with us. He sends his greetings to all of you, as he knows he has been the subject of conversation at times over the years. He, and his daughter are Roma fans to the core and I found it very interesting that he has instilled in her the true meaning of being a Roma fan. In fact, she raised the question to Pino and myself whether it would more important to us if Roma won the CL rather than Italy winning the world cup.

As far as his daughter, she has influenced her boyfriend, who is from Calabria, Crotone to be exact, and he is also a Roma fan. If these two kids are indicative of the Roma fans of the future then I am very pleased.

Too bad Burdisso has been injured the whole season. Our defenders are not Roma material. Angel, Kjaer, Rosi, and... Taddei? They're just horrible. Heinze played some good games this season but he completely failed against Lecce. They're simply not good enough for Roma. Hell, they almost make Stekelenburg look like Doni sometimes.

I expect new defenders this summer, at least 3. That's our priority.

Oh, and send Kjaer back to Wolfsburg.

Trimming down the problem to the system is very wrong, In any system a defence of Kjaer Angel & Rosi( serie b player ) is nothing but disastrous.

Welcome, Andreas. Davit was hoping he wouldn't be the young kid on the block any more, but it seems he's out of luck.

Curiously, Chewna, I think one of the key problems with the defence is that we don't score enough goals and generally don't carry enough of a threat going forward. Some of the 1-on-1 defending has been very poor too. Try hard convincing me if we had italian manager the youth would have been given this much chance. I for one am happy we dont have italian manager at the helm. Btw, Montella is obssessed by oldies.Catania are the worst in this department.

Why wouldn't Montella have played our youth? He was involved in our youth set up – even if it was only the giovanissimi nazionali level – and so would have a good knowledge of our youngsters like Viviani and Piscitella. I think he certainly would have given them a shot. And the comparison with Catania isn't fair, I don't think, he can only work with what is at his disposal and I don't believe Catania are famed for their youth set-up.

Plus it was the societies intention to buy young talent like Lamela and Borini and Pjanic, those transfers had nothing to do with LE. And sure what manager wouldn't play such good players?

I'm not sure it's an 'Italian managers' obsession with older players, as much as it is the fact that Italian teams have little patience with managers, and often fire quickly, so managers play their experienced players, expecting better results and therefore hoping to keep their jobs. LE seems to have patient bosses, so he can play youth.
