I'm here Jimmy. I haven't had time to read that article in full or any of the details. One thing about all this Chivu-hate from the romanisti and on the streets of Rome is that I can't help but get the feeling that this is what Rosella had wanted all along. She has worked it to a stage were it looks like Chivu is the bad guy. Her initial offer to Chivu was like a slap in the face and her refusal to even consider negotiating was practically a kick up the hole. Chivu wanted more money blah blah blah but it was Rosella's hardline attitude which spiraled the whole situation out of control. She was intent on cashing in on him (something she couldn't even do properly), and has done it in a manner that she hopes she won't be blamed and that she had no choice. The problem is that there are some who believe her.

No, no other movement other than Modesto, I wouldn't say. Spalletti will have his young and promising 4th centre-half in Andreolli and Modesto will be back-up for Cornetto. Modesto wil cost, what, €3m, for full-ownership (please tell me that won't be co-ownership-plus-a-lend-of-a-horse-and-cart or the like), and so the deal for for Chivu is, Jimmy, €14.5m and co-ownership of Andreolli, which will leave us with roughly €11m or €12m to spend. I highly doubt we'll spent it. We could get Cicinho, or we could show some ambition and move for Rosina, but I doubt it. And if we don't, Maro, I'm sure the infantile will cite the obvious: we didn't need to spend it, we already have suitable new players, Rosella done good etc. Yes, thats right, because I'm sure either Modesto or Andreolli are as good as Chivu.

'moldy, I did post something to that effect on the little eagle. It was just before a new piece from Chris came up, though, so I suspect you didn't come across it. It was on the bottom of the "useless flapdoodle" comments or perhaps one of the ones just before or just after that. I agree with you totally, of course. I think Aquilani can play that vice-Perrotta role and I suspect he's our first-choice back-up there, but I'm sure he'd be more comfortable in Pizza's role, with the obvious strengths and weaknesses he brings there.
