Goals happening that were irrelevant to the general play.

Barca's second penalty was a technically correct decision, as I far as I'm concerned, but one that the referee has to really want to give. That is particularly the case when the holding isn't anywhere near the ball, especially in a big game where you espect refs to be fairly reticent about making big calls.

The handball against Robinho was just a bad decision and smacked of a ref deciding to bail out a Barca mistake.

When Ibrahimovic is shit in these game (yes, I know he set up the goal) it really exposes Milan's policy of focusing their game and cash on him, while filling most of the rest of their team with second or third rate players.

Aside from the obvious defensive errors, Milan's attack was very poor. Barcelona's pressing was not good for most of the game and Milan got into heaps of good positions, but poor decisions and poor execution prevented them making chances.

Barca are undoubtedly a team in decline.

When they beat Man Utd in Rome they had great players playing in a great system. They were almost impossible to contain because they had dangerous players all over the place and they made the pitch big and moved the ball fast.

Now their game is almost completely focused on Messi. They don't stretch the pitch the way they used to, so it is easier to block up the midfield and deny Xavi and Iniesta time and space on the ball and, therefore, limit the supply to Messi. Their play is also, in general much slower, which again makes it easier to stop them.

And I'm pretty sure Nesta was holding Busquets before Puyol got involved, which would, again, suggest that a penalty was a technically correct call.

the ref called the penalty before the corner was kicked, which is a complete horseshit call. busquets is also grabbing onto nesta's shirt before puyol starts hugging nesta, you don't see that because all the camera replays were from behind the players.

and the rules do state that the foul can't be called until the ball is in play. you don't see players wrestling for an hour until the ball is in play because they are there to play football.

it makes sense though, if you think of all the corners you've seen. the first few seconds there is ALWAYS shirt tugging going on, but the players know that as soon as the ball is kicked they have to let go and they do (for the most part).

it was a technically wrong decision. even though barca would've won anyway, they needed that little help from the ref like they always do.

I haven't seen anything to suggest the penalty was given before the corner was taken.

the foul happened before the ball is in play, so the ref gave a penalty for a foul that happened before the ball is in play. that should not be a penalty.

the more i look at it, the more i realize how much of a bullshit call it was. it is incredible, actually, for a 'top-class' referee to give a penalty for a foul that happened before the ball was even in play.

5. busquets seems to be on his way down before the ball is kicked

the corner should've been retaken.

No Meelan fans saying anything about Pato out for the rest of the season, or is it because it is inevitable with such a fragile player? You really should have sold him to PSG or wherever, because his value is going down with every injury (or is it just a continuing saga with the same injury?)
