I agree. There is a time and a place for Carletto. Now is neither the time nor the place.

as for LE well I've been his biggest defender and supporter. I've preached patience. But he's made some pretty stupid calls in terms of subs that has cost us points this year.

Precisely, nothing wrong with asking questions, querying decisions. Think for yourself, question authority, and all that, as someone famous once said. LE has made a few suspect calls during his time so far, but we must remember he is also still young and still learning in what is his first senior management position. I don't go for the 'mindless worship' thing either, in fact I really dislike it (there are those on twitter who would jump down your throat for criticising anything about LE, even his dodgy suits).

I like Ancelotti too and was sure he was set to become our new manager last year, but I understand the approach taken from our new regime and why they wanted someone from 'outside'. So Carlo wasn't the man for the job. LE has full support and we must continue to get behind him. Although I have to say the only person I would personally kick LE all the way back to Catalunya would be the bald magician himself, Spalletti. But thats a different matter which goes without saying.

This is the biggest positive. And the free ticket to the Primavera final was ace; I had a really good time and to I'll be it did the players a world of good to compete in front of such a big crowd in a major game for them. Even if some of them – as no doubt they will – move on in the coming seasons, at least it seems they're being given a fairer crack at it.

I read an interesting comment about the fact that Barca actually need to develop the core of their team themselves, because with the tactics they play it isn't always possible to find players from outside who can do that. I hope the same is true of the thinking here. Splashing the cash (hopefully better than Barca do) on a marquee signing will always be an option, but I think if you want a ball-playing CB or a midfielder capable of pressing and passing in close quarters, it's better to make him yourself. If they primavera are playing and train in a similar style, and it seems they are, then the step-up will be easy. And it will be easier, too, to asses their suitability to the big time.

Jesus, look at us all, talking positively about the club. This is still the Roma thread, right?

Totti from the group, working on his own training schedule with Vito Scala. DDR was tried out alongside Kjaer at the back (as Heinze is suspended for Novara so we've no other defenders available). Viviani, Frediani, Tallo, Carboni and the Ricci twins all trained with the first team.

Osvaldo went over on his ankle toward the end of training so he may be in doubt for the weekend, which would leave us with, shock horror, only two fit forwards for the game (Borini out for a few weeks with a hamstring). No doubt LE has already given Sabatini an urgent shortlist of 12 new forwards he wants bought in the next mercato.

Emergency in defense *and* offense? That sounds great. I wonder if Sabatini has a ticket to South America already in his clutches to get a start on the next mercato as Shield suggests.

I agree that it's okay to be patient with LE and realize that Rome wasn't built in a day, but it doesn't mean we can't criticize some of LE's decisions that leave us scratching our heads. I'm happy with a youth approach, but we do need some players that are not just for the future for an optimal blend of potential and experience.
