Yep, I was glad Siena won. Well, not glad, but you know what I mean. We didn't deserve anything. doesn't mean shit if you can't convert that into chances (never mind actual fuckin goals) and at this stage its a lesson which LE needs to learn. Its become far too easy for teams to be well organised defensively against us and then simply look to beat us on the counter. We need to learn to win by other means.

Its also worrying just how much of a one man system this is. Viviani had a fine game and its hard to blame him for anything, and Gago is a good destructive player, but little compares to DDR's reading of the game. I'm sick of saying it, but DDR aside, we just haven't got the defensive players to play this system and its going to continue to hurt us until we get them (or until LE changes it, which means the other option).

Oh, to help matters, our best defender – and he remains our best defender, no matter what – has suffered a , which could spell disaster.

Edzo, I agree and disagree with you. I think that the system has the ability to be flexible, but the players struggle with it. I didn't think Viviani was great, but then, I didn't think any of them were. And for all the energy up front, at some point a portion of the blame has to go to the attacking elements of the side if 70-odd percent possession can't be translated into a goal.

I think that the possession gets wasted without the passing and intelligence of DDR. I think that with experience, Pjanic will be able to pull the strings too, but De Rossi remains the link between front and back. That said, with the undoubted talent they possess, the forwards really should do better in these games. Sometimes they seem completely one-dimensional and/or isolated. Which is incredible when you consider that their teammates are dominating possession and they're up front with at least another two players. That kind of support would be the stuff of dreams to the old-school lone frontman.

Recorded the game, just watched it. What a waste of 90 minutes of my life! Awful awful performance, one of if not the worst yet this season. Didn't create one clear cut chance, all our shots were wild ones from about 30 yards out with the exception of Borini's volley. We've had some terrible results of late. The game tonight reminded me of the games at the very start of the season, plenty of possession but not going anywhere with it.

One positive was Viviani, put in some quality tackles.

Great to see the Primavera doing well. We have quite the bunch of talented young players, would be great to see them go all the way in that tournament and get some recognition.
