Once again, England's goalie and defense are the culprits of their demise. The team has a good mid-field but their defense are made up of players with individual names for their respective clubs. They don't play as a unit and that goalie gave up an easy save! Kind of gives even more respect to Buffon and how pivotal a goalie actually is. They get no respect in that position. The defense usually gets credit for wins/clean sheets. That's why I think Buffon was huge for Italy and had it been a different goalie there it would've been different results. I can eve credit Juve's success for him. I think Juve wouldn't be in this position had it not been for Buffon.

Don't be going all soft and sentimental on us, Populusque. Anyway, I'm not sure Graeme Souness would have shed too many tears at England's defeat. He would, no doubt, have had something to say about Italy's win on Saturday, though.

So it looks as though Taddei and Aquilani should be back for the weekend but Perrotta is out and DDR will be playing on half a tank. No doubt DoughnutDoni will be satisfied that the Milanisti midfield have had the week off while the two giallorossi were running the full course of the important game against the Fairy Islands. And it looks as though Totti's unlikely to make it. I know he's got a fitness test today, but I'd be surprised to see him rushed back. And presumably Juan is likely to start from the bench following his long trip home. So much for a full squad. Though with Taddei back it will be nice to see Max back at left-back and perhaps we'll start to see a bit more of Cicinho with Taddei in front of him.

shitty, i was hoping that wasnt the case, especially with juan just coming back from int'l duty in s.a. they were supposed to evaluate his concusion this morning but now i see from a different report that mexes was indeed held back.

Al termine dell’allenamento di oggi Mister Spalletti ha diramato la Lista dei Convocati per Genoa-Roma.

Philippe Mexes non è partito per Genova con il resto della squadra. Il difensore francese, che nella partita di Lisbona aveva riportato un trauma cranico dopo uno scontro con Doni, non ha ricevuto l’ok da parte dello staff medico della Roma, per giocare la gara di domani contro il Genoa.
