Good solid win. We were far from our best but we also got the win without Sneijder and Forlan, who are important players for us.

Milito is back to his best. I can't remember which derby it was but Milito scored a very similar goal from a Abate blunder even then.

I think the occasion of the derby got to Alvarez but against the big games we will need Sneijder to connect the midfield and attack. We lost so much possession today because all we did was hoof the ball to Pazzini and hope he would control it rather than passing the ball on the ground. I am not sure how Raineri is going to integrate Sneijder into his 4-4-2 but we will definitely need his passing skills at least against the bigger teams.

Finally, well done Raineri. We did not have the players like two years ago to go all guns blazing on Milan. Instead he did the right thing by allowing Milan to attack and hit them on the counter.

People say we are back in the title race, but I think we are still far from it. Tbh, I will be over the moon if we just manage to get 3rd place. Considering how far back we were, 3rd place will be a success. I think also, now is about the time teams like Lazio and Udinese will fall off the pace which will come in handy for us.

Nice result yesterday. We can all bitch about Ranieri's poor trophy record, but he is almost a guarantee that his team will compete for the very first places. What I like about him is that he's realistic. Benitez, Leonardo & Gasperini all tried to give us a different type of football, whereas Ranieri knows the limits of this team and just copes with it the right way. We don't need spectacular football, we just need points.
About the game, surely not a great match but I'm happy to have seen again some of our old good traits..water-tight defence, good filter in the middle and some good cynical counter attacks. We've won a lot in our recent past playing like this, I don't understand why some coaches insisted to play in a different manner..

Official: Parma sign Jonathan

Just days after terminating the deal, Parma have announced Inter full-back Jonathan has joined them on loan.

Last week the Ducali had agreed terms with the Nerazzurri only to then back out after becoming infuriated with his delaying tactics.

However, this evening Parma released a statement confirming they had “signed Inter defender Jonathan Cicero Moreira on loan from Inter.

“The player will be at the disposal of Coach Roberto Donadoni at the Collecchio training ground tomorrow.

“He’ll be presented to the media by director general Pietro Leonardi tomorrow afternoon.”

Jonathan was signed by Inter in the summer as the heir to Douglas Maicon, but has struggled to make an impact.

APPIANO GENTILE - In considerazione del persistente risentimento al quadricipite della gamba destra, oggi Diego Forlan è stato sottoposto ad accertamenti strumentali che hanno evidenziato uno stiramento al retto femorale.

Il calciatore non sarà quindi disponibile per Inter-Genoa e da domani sarà sottoposto a terapie e programmi di recupero.

Si ricorda che il precedente infortunio, accusato da Forlan in occasione di Paraguay-Uruguay dell'ottobre scorso, era al bicipite femorale della gamba sinistra.

Forlan to leave Inter?

Diego Forlan could leave Inter after just six months, as it’s reported Brazilians Sao Paolo have made an offer.

The Uruguayan striker has barely featured for the Nerazzurri since his summer arrival from Atletico Madrid due to a series of injuries.

He recently picked up another thigh strain and will be out for around a month.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Sao Paolo have proposed to take 32-year-old Forlan during the January transfer window.

Inter: 'We still want Tevez'

Inter “are still interested and are studying how to get back into the hunt” for Carlos Tevez, said director Marco Branca.

After Milan pulled out last week, the Nerazzurri became favourites to sign the Manchester City want-away striker, but PSG are now in front.

“I think that Tevez is in reality close to Paris Saint-Germain, as his agent received a very good offer from the French club,” Branca told RMC Sport.

“In any case, I am not optimistic or pessimistic with regards to Tevez. We are still interested and will continue discussing matters with his agent.

“We are studying how to get back into the hunt for Carlos over the next few days. We are not running late in this race.

“I believe Carlos and his agent can wait a day or two, seeing as he hasn’t played for Manchester City for several months.

“It’s not as if the situation will change over the next 48 hours. Besides, the transfer window certainly doesn’t close tonight or tomorrow.”

Coppa: Inter cruise past Genoa

Inter swept Genoa aside 2-1 with Douglas Maicon and Andrea Poli, so they’ll face Napoli in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

Sneijder made his comeback for a few minutes in Sunday’s 1-0 derby victory, but got his first start since early November as support for lone striker Luc Castaignos, who is expected to leave this month. Meanwhile, Genoa missed most of their star names for this Round of 16 trip and had new signing Giuseppe Sculli on the bench, but did play Juraj Kucka, who is co-owned by the Nerazzurri.

It took just eight minutes for Inter to break the deadlock and Douglas Maicon very nearly broke the net with a blockbuster of a right-footed strike from 20 yards that flew into the far top corner.

More bad news for the visitors, who lost Marco Rossi to a muscular problem, making way for Kevin Constant.

Cristiano Lupatelli got down to palm a Sneijder snapshot off the line, while substitute Constant blasted over the bar. Genoa tried to fight back, but Luca Castellazzi’s gloves remained squeaky clean, as the absence of players like Alberto Gilardino and Rodrigo Palacio really showed.

Inter doubled their advantage after the break with Andrea Poli’s first goal since his summer move from Sampdoria. The Under-21 international midfielder’s quick one-two with Joel Obi sent him clear on goal.

A Castaignos error allowed Lucas Pratto to go on the dangerous counter-attack, but he narrowed the angle too much and allowed Castellazzi to block. To make matters worse for Genoa, substitute Constant in turn had to be replaced due to an injury.

Mauro Zarate was introduced and tested Lupatelli with an angled drive, while Lucas Pratto’s glancing header was off target and Cristobal Jorquera dispossessed Esteban Cambiasso to launch an immediate strike that Castellazzi beat away.

Genoa did finally get their goal in stoppages. Pratto was unlucky to see his attempt come off the bar, then Valter Birsa was quickest to react and tapped in the follow-up from six yards.

I watched it, not a bad game, Genoa were a little unlucky I felt. Same old story with them, though, they have some good footballers and play some nice football at times but can be too naive when it comes to the simple things, like defending. I was impressed with that Faraoni kid, he has some skill, but is he a winger or more of a central midfielder? Maicon was rampant going forward and really looks to be getting back to his best. All of talk of a transfer away for him seems to have ceased and he looks more settled and committed now and it shows in his game.

Faraoni is a winger or even a full back. Certainly not a central midfielder though I have a feeling he could adapt well in the middle. I have been particularly impressed with his positioning and efficiency when covering rather than him going forward. Quite glad he has been given some decent play time till now. Also was quite happy with Castaignos too. He wasn't a real threat upfront but he was good at keeping possession and showed some good physical presence up there. Had hoped to see Coutinho too, but he was injured apparently.
P.S. Had almost forgot how horrible Cordoba was with a ball at his feet...Jesus..

only the linesman see that, no one else and not even the replay could.
anyway we must got smart copying from the MERDAS

The fact that Motta was onside doesn't mean that Pazzini wasn't. Plus I didn't think Pazzini was offside. Milito was, and he made a play for the ball, and despite the fact that he didn't touch it, the play should've been called offside.

I have been one the fence about the Motta deal. On one hand, he is really influential when he plays. On the other, he gets injured way too often and he just has over a year remaining in his contract. Anyone knows how much he gets paid and what are his renewal terms?

Obviously without a replacement we are setting ourselves up for CL elimination in R16 or Quarters and we will struggle to finish 3rd. But you also never know how many games he will play in the rest of the season. I have been reading rumors about a loan deal for Sahin. If that's in the wings then I would sell Motta right away.
