"A 20 goals a season" strikers is a figure of speech. We all knew trez and the Waterboy were both capable of scoring 20 goals in any given season. Matri is capable of scoring 29, and he still can, but the way this team has been playing he doesn't have to. Were not even half way through the season yet, so yes 20 is possible.

I don't see it as a "figure if speech" . You either score 20 or you don't. I've always said he wasn't a 20+ goal player. At 15 mil are Juve getting their moneys worth? Between him and Vuc that forward line cost 25 mil and they can't produce a combined 20 goals? If Matri scores more than 15 Ill buy you tickets to go see them.

Matri scored 20 goals last season (11 for Cagliari and 9 for Juve) so he is a 20 goal striker.

Thats great. I don't judge a player by one season, it is what you see on the field. He wont score 20 this year, put that in the books!

Matri is fine for Juve this season, but will have to be replaced if Juve want to make the step up to being a really good team.

Where would you put Giovinco in the current 4-3-3?

I could only see him competing with Vucinic for the LW spot.

I don't think you could play Giovinco and Vucinic off of a CF without unbalancing the team.

I don't like how Matri's been playing in the last few games.

I don't know if this is what Conte's asking of him, but he's wandering too much. I'd rather see him play as more of a fixed CF and focus on being in the right place at the right time in the box, instead of trying to involve himself in so much of the build-up play.

Supposedly an agreement in place for Nainggolan - unclear if move will be now or summer.

Good move, if the price is reasonable.

Report: Juve take Caceres

Reports coming from Spain this evening suggest Juventus have agreed a deal with Sevilla to sign Martin Caceres.

The Bianconeri have been in talks for many weeks, although recently they were slowed by the interest in Porto’s Fredy Guarin.

Juve can only bring in one non-EU player and it looks as if Caceres has won the race, because El Desmarque Sevilla report tonight that an agreement has been reached.

It’s believed the Turin giants will pay €1.5m to take the Uruguayan on loan and a further €8m to buy him out at the end of the season.

This is a return for Caceres, who spent a season with Juventus on loan from Barcelona in 2009-10, and the move could be made official tomorrow.

He'll get a lot of playing time I think. Conte hasn't really given his defense a rest, and Caceres can play anywhere across the back four. And I'm sure that's a negotiable transfer fee.

I don't think it's really one Juve will view as a loan with an option.

They'll be fully intending to buy Caceres and this will just be a way of spreading the cost a bit.

So long as he isn't injured constantly, I don't see Juve not buying him.

Official: Juve loan Caceres

Martin Caceres has completed his move to Juventus this evening, joining from Sevilla on an initial six-month loan.

The Uruguayan full-back completed and passed his medical examinations in Turin on Friday and has now signed a contract with the Bianconeri. The transfer was confirmed in a statement on Juve’s official website.

The current League leaders will pay €1.5m to take Caceres on an initial six-month loan deal and have an option up until the end of May to sign him outright for a further €8m. Should the club not take up that option, they are liable to pay Sevilla a penalty of €1.5m.

Caceres, who takes the No 4 shirt, briefly commented on his return to Juve, stating that he was ‘happy to be back’, having previously spent the 2009-10 campaign on loan at the club.

Minotti opens Candreva-Juve door

Cesena sporting director Lorenzo Minotti has failed to rule out a Juventus move for Antonio Candreva.

The midfielder has been linked with a January exit as clubs such as Napoli and Fiorentina are keen on his services.

Juventus, though, are the latest outfit to be paired and Minotti isn’t surprised with the reports.

“Candreva is a player who Juventus have already had in the past, they know him and he would have no problems in settling in,” the former Parma defender told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Candreva is a player of impressive quality and he could be of use to Juventus when they face defensive sides and where quality is needed.

“If he does move this month then it will happen in the last few minutes.”

Candreva, a 24-year-old midfielder, spent six months on loan at Juve following his move from Livorno in January 2010.

Minotti also confirmed reports that they have asked Inter for the loan of striker Luc Castaignos.

“We’re waiting for an answer from Inter and the player,” Minotti noted. “We’ve identified him as a useful element for us given his athleticism and technical quality.

“I consider him to be an ideal partner for Adrian Mutu.”

Glad to see Caceres get Paolo Montero's number.

I also like the link to Candreva. Getting Naingolan in January would be perfect, but I really like Candreva. I thought he did well when he was with us a couple seasons ago, Secco and Blanc made a mistake letting him and Caceres go.
