He seems to be playing quite central in a lot of those clips, although perhaps he just likes to drift in from the left. Certainly looks more of an attacker than a defender anyway, quite skilful, able and willing to take on his man and has a bit of pace about him.

MERCATO ROMA MARQUINHO – E’ notizia di ieri che la Roma avrebbe chiuso per il prestito di Marquinho, 25enne centrocampista del Fluminense. Andiamo a scoprire qualcosa di più su questo calciatore:
Marco Antônio de Mattos Filho, calcisticamente chiamato semplicemente Marquinho, è nato il 3 luglio del 1986 a Passo Fundo in Brasile. Centrocampista dalle spiccate propensioni offensive, possiede un fisico asciutto (1.80 per 78 kg). Il tipico fisico della mezzala tecnica: baricentro basso, gambe esplosive e un piede (quello sinistro) molto preciso. Caratteristiche che, nonostante parta dalla sinistra, lo portano spesso ad accentrarsi e cercare il passaggio smarcante per i propri compagni. Molto bravo nell‘uno contro uno, forse un pò troppo innamorato della palla, Marquinho potrebbe ricoprire tutti i ruoli del centrocampo giallorosso e all’occorenza potrebbe giocare anche da seconda punta.
Ha un contratto in scadenza il 31/12/2013 e la sua valutazione si aggira intorno ai 2 milioni di euro.

Sounds to me like cover for Taddei or for the switch to a 3-4-3 that LE seems slowly to be creeping toward.

Yeh thats what I initially thought, but considering Taddei seems to be exclusively a full/wing-back these days I'm not so sure, that piece seems to be suggesting this Marquinho is more of a midfielder or forward player.

Same was said about Taddie. Like I said, he could play in a 4 man MF with limited FB duties. And by that I mean maybe. I've never seen him play.

But against 4-4-2 formations our back line looks like a 3 man back.

Its a surprise that Gago is left out, but I think I'm more surprised that Bojan is starting. I haven't been impressed with him at all lately.

This will be a tough game in a hostile atmosphere, but we should be able to settle down and play our possesso paella game and have enough about us to come away with the three points.

Bojan is an enigma. Last game he played poorly, but the two prior he looked our most dangerous and unlucky.

Having said that, Borini will be on in the 65th I'd imagine. He's not fit enough for 90 is my guess.

I like Gago, I think he's too similar to DDR and when they play, they look the best players on the pitch and that's the problem. We seem much more stagnant with them on the pitch at the same time.

Yeh I would have went with Borini to start but maybe your right that he's not fit enough for 90 (not fit enough for LE standards anyway, he has been back training regularly now since before Christmas). Bojan can get us a goal or do something great, but I think he needs to improve on the simple things and take the right option a bit more. Its like he's trying to hard, he just needs to focus and concentrate more.
