you're right sp, and i've been wondering the same thing. but if we can get 30 plus million for pato, it's another master stroke by galliani. i think inzaghi should be put on the list, we'll have 2.5 strikers for the rest of the CL which is not good at all.

Milan confirm Mesbah talks

Milan are in confirmed negotiations with Lecce for versatile full-back Djamel Mesbah, revealed his agent.

“At the moment we are in talks, but that is all. I can confirm a meeting this afternoon between Lecce and Milan to talk about Mesbah,” agent Alessandro Lucci told Milannews.

“I am acting as an intermediary for Lecce so the lad can find the right solution. The chat with the Rossoneri went well and he’d certainly be enthusiastic about such a move.”

The 27-year-old Algerian international can play as an attacking full-back or in a more advanced position.

He is seen as the replacement for Taye Taiwo, who failed to impress during his first six months at San Siro.

Mesbah’s contract expires in June, so he would be available for €1.5m and Milan are reportedly offering a four-and-a-half-year deal.

looking at current market prices where citeh bought aguero for 45m euros, pato can't be too far behind that number. and i've accepted the fact that we will be selling potato, if he had any drive within him he would've been one of the greatest players in the game. he was just too insouciant in his play and it bit him in the ass. have we seen the best of him? i doubt it. but to make it at a club like milan, you need to have the utmost focus and drive in everything you do. that is all he lacked.

Fuck Pato, he's 100% gone and it's a matter of when, not if, that this will take place. You can book it, he'll be gone, most likely in the summer. Galliani, Allegri agree on that and have lost faith in him...even Silvio did (until his sudden last-minute U-turn). People can dream about this but he will not improve and cannot make it long term in a club as massive as Milan. I think 4 1/2 years at Milan prove that. A club like PSG in a league like the French one are perfect matches for him.

I don't blame Galliani for this situation, he was doing what's right for the club but apparently Berlusconi pulled the plug on this one, there must've been a U-turn from him because I cannot see Galliani and co. flying to England first for such a big move without having the inital OK from Silvio....because of the UEFA fair play rules in place, we pretty much cannot commit this large amount to buy unless we sell first, so we needed that moron gone and he didn't. I hope we still somehow get Tevez but I doubt it.

Short-term, Tevez for Pato would've meant one less forward for CL this year, but I think if we included Inzaghi and El Shaarawy as backups to Ibra and Robinho we could've managed still and it's not like we were going to win CL this year anyways, but this move was more about the next 2-3 CL editions where with Tevez and a couple more additions in other areas we would've been in position to go for it.

If I'm not mistaken, were Milan not interest in getting Tevez before any of this furor about Pato possibly leaving? As in were you not looking to sign him to replace Cassano, as it were, due to his long absence? So why Milan's abrupt admission of defeat now that Pato is staying?

And the loss of faith in Pato is crazy, I think. He has all the skills required to be a truly top-class striker and you always feel is just one season or one breakthrough period away from achieving that, so the will to 'sacrifice' him now in order to sign a horrible, fat, money-gobbling scarface mercenary who hasn't played a football match in months is shocking.

shield, you haven't followed pato's "progress" over the past few seasons. regardless of his injuries, the kid plays with no fire whatsoever. he has the worst games leading the line, he doesn't do anything. he watches the game more than he plays. with his dribbling skills, you'd think he'd be creating space for somebody, but he barely dribbles anymore. he does absolutely nothing.

i think galliani would've signed tevez on one day, and confirmed pato's departure the next. if we sold pato before tevez, city would've jacked up the price. galliani is a smooth motherfucker.
