Unimpressive stuff from Juve this evening.

The second string, aside from technical failings, lack the energy and drive the first team has.

It was all pretty sluggish. Lack of purposeful movement from midfielders and forwards and lack of Pirlo to move the ball around the pitch quickly enough to exploit any space.

The forwards also showed the negative side of playing players determined to prove themself. Lots of occasions where players were greedy or wanting extra touches on the ball, only for the good opportunity to have disappeared.

Marrone looks like a pretty nothingy sort of player who won't be at Juve very long.

Giaccherini is the only player who will have really furthered his cause this evening.

Krasic was coming on to a game by the time he got subbed. Looks to have a better understanding of how he is meant to move than he did a month ago.

Quagliarella looked pretty sharp and looked capable of making something happen when he got close support.

I can only think that it is Quagliarella versus Giaccherini for Vucinic's spot in the team.

I had to work on a paper all day, so I had to avoid the sit all day. Im just glad I dvr'ed the following show. Pretty exciting game, but like you said, nothing Conte should be happy about. I thought The Waterboy had a decent game, definitely better than Quags. The guy literally gives blood and sweat for this for this team. But I'd probably start Giaccherini against Roma, then bring the Waterboy on in the second.

Last I saw, Gazzetta was predicting Estigarribia to play rather than The Waterboy.

Can't say I was surprised to find out that he only stayed on the pitch for half an hour, given how good Bayern's wingers are.

Disgusting game from Juve

You can't expect a team that finished 7th last year to come and play strong in every game. That being said, it was a game we really should have and could have won if not for a few errors. We're coming off a 120 minute game against Bologna but I was hoping Vidal and Pirlo would come out with mor energy and precision, given that they had more rest. It all really came down to Roma's desire not to lose being greater than our desire to win.

We can't just blame Juve's poor performance without giving credit to Roma(especially DDR) for playing with a depleted squad. THey showed a lot of heart. But had the game gone on for another 10 or minutes we would have won.

Predictably poor game from Juve - I said that I thought playing Estigarribia instead of Quagliarella would leave Juve with a lack of guile and technique.

What are Juve thinking on short corners? Roma's goal came in almost exactly the same way as Napoli won their penalty. Do Juve really think it's okay to leave Pirlo against two guys to close down the cross?

More generally, Juve didn't give close enough support to Matri and didn't get the ball wide fast enough to take advantage of playing with two genuine wingers.

On the penalty, the problem was not so much the challenge by Vidal as Barzagli and Lichtsteiner both failing to clear the initial cross.

Buffon is great.

Barzagli is good.

Vidal is uncontrolled.

That's the worst I've seen Juve play this season, though I missed the draws with Bologna and Catania.

Still, I think Man City's defeat tonight means Juve are the last unbeaten team in any of the top leagues.

Conte: 'Juve fell into chaos'

Antonio Conte believes Juventus “fell into chaos” during their Roma draw, but they are still doing better than expected.

The Bianconeri had to fight back from an early Daniele De Rossi goal, created by Arturo Vidal’s howler, then saw Gigi Buffon save Francesco Totti’s penalty in a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico.

“We played well in the first half with intensity, tempo and some important moves, though we could’ve done more on the flanks,” said Conte.

“It’s not easy when you go behind straight away, so we did well to react. I didn’t like the middle of the second half, though, as we fell into chaos.

“We still had lots of chances to score and Maarten Stekelenburg was crucial for Roma. It was a good game, as both I and Luis Enrique had prepared for it well.”

Juventus are joint top of the table with Udinese and Conte does not see this as a missed opportunity against a decimated Roma.

“If I look at the table, then I can say we are doing extraordinary things, well beyond expectations at the start of the season. The fact people think Juve should win all the time shows we have become an important team.”

I can't say I saw the game, again, but that's cuz I'm makin' mo' chedda than Kraft. What did I say a few weeks ago??? If Juve came out with 7 points up from week11 to week 15 after Roma I would be more than happy. I didn't anticipate them to play with such heart, much different than years past. Juve drew a lot of games but you can take some quality out of their draws and wins. They play straight up to the 90th minute. If Conte doesn't win coach of the year then I don't know who does. You cant deny this: Conte adds bundles of class to this Juve side. Just listen to his pre/post game interviews. It kind of takes away from the shit talking Moggi, Moratti, Capello,Mancini, Mourinho used to do. Nobody talks shit prior to a game. What happened to this league?? There's no controversy, no bad blood, etc.

Dino, I agree with you.
But that Roma squad was such a crappy team, 11 molinaros or 11 amauris could have beat them.
I wish I could say that it came down to luck, and sure their goal was fluke goal of the year by far, but the shots Juve had on their goal were too weak and too direct.
I think the team came in too cocky, every player wanted some spotlight, and at half time Conte gave them shit for it.

Chiellini finally had a good performance but Vidal was a mess.

And dino...Mo' chedda than Kraft??? If that's the case you probably make nothing.

No Bagg, I disagree, this team is not the same as the team who finished 7th last year, and I don't expect them to dominate every game, its just that this roma team were comical to watch at times and had heinze received the suspension he deserve, they would have been in trouble. As not even the beast that is De rossi would have saved them.
