Merkel puts Genoa above Milan

Alexander Merkel is happy with reports that Milan want him back – but he says he’s happy at Genoa.

The German moved to Marassi from the Rossoneri in the summer in a co-ownership deal that saw Stephan El Shaarawy go in the other direction.

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi this week claimed that Milan had asked for Merkel to return to San Siro, but the patron insisted he is going nowhere.

“I’m happy that the two clubs are talking about me,” said the 19-year-old to Sky Sport Italia on Thursday.

“Saying that, I am also very happy to be here at Genoa and they are the only thing on my mind right now.”

The teenager, who was signed by Milan’s youth sector scouts, has started six games in Serie A for Genoa this term – totalling 517 minutes of action.

i said this earlier and i'll say it again, it's no surprise that milan are looking to give el sharaawy back. this kid is nothing special, and i don't know what galliani was smoking when he signed him. merkel would've been such a greater addition to the squad this season, and with all these injuries, and with only 2.5 technical midfielders (seedorf, aquilani, boa) merkel wouldn't have a problem finding space. as for el sharaawy, what a fucking joke. i've seen nothing that tells me he will take the world by storm. at his age, potato was banging the goals in.

Regarding the El Shaarawy deal the kid has decent potential but needs to play often like Paloschi so should probably be loaned out to another Serie A side for the last half of the season.

decent game last night, Kaladze made it a whole lot easier for us by getting sent off. Robinho needs to get some shooting practice in after now missing 2 open goals in 2 games. Ibra scored again band Noce got another goal he now has 5 goals and the second highest scorer in the team now but the real man of the match for me is KPB what a game he had making the assist for Noce and never stopping running what a awesome buy hes turned out to be!

Uefa has reviewd the Barca game and noticed that Nesta was booked when it was Aquaman that made the challenge on Xavi (dive) so they have revoked the card given to Nesta and given it to Aquilani who was booked already in that game, which we all know two yellows mean he has now been classed as sent off so gets a suspension. so Nesta misses the game through injury and Aquaman misses it through suspension.
