Faubert In Injury Scare

West Ham’s new signing Julien Faubert will have scans today on his right-ankle after being stretchered off in a pre-season friendly.

It’s been a torrid few days for the Frenchman as yesterday national coach Raymond Domeneche criticised the winger for joining the Hammers, labelling him as ‘stupid’.

But to add injury to insult, Faubert was stretchered off during West Ham’s 1-0 defeat to Czech side Sigma Olomouc, and will have a scan today to discover the extent of the damage.

Club doctors put the right-ankle in a cast as a precaution. West Ham lost striker Dean Ashton at this time last year, when he broke his ankle during training with the England team.

Secondo la stampa inglese, sul taccuino di Eriksson ci sarebbero il messicano Nery Castillo dell'Olympiakos in alternativa al rumeno Marica dello Shakhtar Donetsk. Intanto è stata rifiutata un'offerta del Besiktas per Vassell, mentre lo svedese Wilhelmsson (ex Roma) sembra destinato al Bolton.

I love Candela and he was a great player and servant for Roma, but I don't know if it would be a good move for us at this stage.

Consider our hunt for a new left-back, and also that we're the kings of free-signings, I have to say I'm surprised we've never been associated with Gabriel Heinze. He is almost certain to leave Man Utd, and has been linked to a host of clubs, but why never us, I do wonder? He would fit in nicely in our defence. I don't think he is on a really high-wage or anything, which is what I was originally thinking as to why we've never been interested in him, but he'd certainly be a very good signing.

L'accordo sarà ufficializzato nelle prossime ore. Decisivo, per la positiva conclusione della trattativa, il colloquio che c'è stato tra Veloz e Rosella Sensi nelle ore a cavallo della festa per gli 80 anni della Roma, anche se già nel precedente appuntamento con il ds Daniele Pradè, lo scorso 16 luglio, erano state gettate le basi per l'accordo.
