On that ridiculous blog from The Score (which usually has some good stuff) on the previous page, here's an interesting poll on RomaNews asking who should play in the 'tridente' now that Totti is back. The choices are between Totti, Osvaldo, Bojan, Borriello and Lamela (Borini still injured as well remember). Totti-Lamela-Osvaldo is my pick and slightly in the lead with 37%, followed by Osvaldo-Lamela-Bojan with 32%. Gives an idea of how romanisti view the "plodding and past-it" Francesco Totti.

Coppa Italia fixtures relaxed today and we'll play the Fiorentina v Empoli (24 novembre) in the second-round.

De Rossi had an interview with Rai Radio today, full transcript can be found . Quite a personal and candid interview.

Michele Gemignani, Roma's doctor, gave an on Roma Channel on the condition of our injured players. He said Burdisso is doing better now that he's at home and he's more relaxed, in less pain, no fever and is generally more optimistic and eager to get back on the road to rehabilitation.

Borini is back doing some light training and is back with the group and all tests so far are good. Next week he should be back to regular training.

Rosi should be ok, but he got a bad knock on the same ankle which he injured a while back, but he's still optimistic of a speedy return.

He says there are lots of injuries so far – but doesn't give any indication as to why – but all in all he's pleased with the overall work of the trainers and the medical team, especially as it was a new management team in place. He also says its positive there's been no relapses in any of the injured players so far and that Totti is fully recovered and ready to give his all.

Totti and Borriello both suffered knocks in and had to finish early. Totti got a knock to his ankle (it was probably one of them Spanish feckers, ey) and Borriello got a thigh strain.

I'm not sure what the deal is with this Savic, er, deal. I can see how it makes sense with signing a player on loan for six months with no option to buy given that Burdisso is out for the rest of the season, but we do need new defenders anyway, so why not get someone in permanently? Sure, it may be difficult to do that mid-season and so a loan makes sense in that regard, but we are building for the future here and the centre of defence is an area which needs permanent reinforcements anyway, so we should be looking to buy, I think.

Agree with you there, Ed. Unless money is an issue, I do not see any real benefit for Roma in a 6-month loan deal. There must be a few players out there would be happy to go to Roma. Has anyone seen Nikola Gulan in action? Another young lad out of Partizan, who's contract is up with Fiorentina. He's been on-loan in B, with Empoli.

Watching a Q&A with Eric Cantona, director Ken Loach and actor Steve Evets, an extra feature on the Looking For Eric DVD (amazing film, by the way). They are asked about the increasing commercialisation of football and Loach paraphrases Cantona, who said that football cannot help but reflect society, and football was never going to stay trapped in an ealier model when so much money is there to be made. So of course football clubs turn into corporations, because that is the way our society has become. I don't like the fact that it is happening to football or society, but sadly it is. Roma is changing, and whatever happens on the pitch, the club's globalisation is unfortunately inevitable. Loach and Cantona suggest that the answer is perhaps to support your big corporation on TV, and go to the ground to see your local community team.Not sure that works for me, or anyone interested in travelling to/living in Rome.

Piece on Juan originally from . LE, when questioned again on the status of Juan: "he is not yet 100% and he must improve his physical condition as he gets injured far too often." Clearly the fitness-freak that is LE isn't happy with him, but I don't think Juan is drastically unfit in comparison to how he's been in previous season, its just that LE has much higher standards of fitness then our previous managers. It is said we will keep him until the end of this season anyway – unless we get a good offer for him in January – and Juan himself has again stressed that its his intention to see out his contract with us which expires in 2013 and then return to Brazil. But that is unlikely to happen, at present, given LE's concerns over his fitness and so not being in his plans. He's likely to be on the bench against Udinese.
