Baggio denies Inter link

Roberto Baggio’s representative has wasted no time in rejecting links between his client and Internazionale.

Reports in Italy on Thursday were suggesting that Inter chief Massimo Moratti was considering appointing the legendary Italian as Coach for the 2012-13 campaign.

The stories even suggested that the two men had already held face-to-face discussions about the possibility.

“There was no meeting between Baggio and Inter President Moratti,” Vittorio Petrone, Baggio’s agent, stated when asked about the rumours.

“These reports are not true and risk disturbing the hard work which Baggio is doing as the President of the Italian Football Federation’s technical sector.

“Also, what has been published could complicate the work of current Inter Coach Claudio Ranieri.”

Baggio, who retired as a player in the summer of 2004, is currently studying to net his coaching badges at Coverciano.

Ranieri is contracted to Inter until June 2013.

Ranieri's message for Genoa

Claudio Ranieri has joined Inter in expressing his solidarity for the people of Genoa after flash floods killed at least six people.

Sunday’s Serie A match at Marassi has been called off, as freak thunderstorms in the city damaged the Stadio Luigi Ferraris and prompted the death of six people, including two children. At first it was reported there were seven deaths.

“Seeing the images from Genoa just hits you in the heart, so we are close to the people and our thoughts go to those suffering at this time,” Ranieri told Inter Channel.

“Obviously, football takes a step back. Unfortunately we see that every three or four years something like this happens. This time it was a catastrophe. I hope lessons can be learned to prevent further problems.”

There were already floods in the Liguria region this week and the ticket sales from Genoa-Inter would’ve gone to help those affected.

However, the floods returned in the city itself, leaving the central roads caked in mud, cars swept downstream and other detritus.

“I’m sure we will do something to raise funds when the game is rescheduled. It just seems a terrible shame that we only act afterwards, whereas these events should’ve been prevented and those lives saved.”

On Monday the Lega Serie A will decide on the rescheduled date.

Milito opens Genoa door

Diego Milito has failed to rule out a return to former club Genoa – even though he insists he’s just focusing on Inter right now.

Genoa chief Enrico Preziosi revealed on Friday that he plans to sign the Argentine for a third time at some stage in the future.

“I know that Preziosi loves me,” the international told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “I will always be grateful to him.

“You never know what will happen in football, but for now I’m just thinking about helping Inter win football matches.”

The South American was first signed by the Marassi outfit in 2004, then in Serie B, but he left for Zaragoza just a year later.

In 2008, he returned to the port club where his 24 goals in 31 League games saw him earn a lucrative move to Inter 12 months later.

Premesso che considero Ibra il più forte attacante visto in Italia almeno in questo secolo, forse è il caso che si dia una calmata, innanzitutto perchè non considero questi pensieri da "macho" così elevati e soprattutto perchè prima di considerarsi un semidio sarebbe il caso facesse qualche figura dignitosa fuori dai confini nazionali. Riepilogo: l'Inter con lui in europa non vince niente. Non è colpa sua? Può essere, ma appena se ne va l'Inter vince tutto. Lui va al Barcellona che ha appena vinto tutto e con lui viene eliminato guarda caso proprio dall'Inter. Quindi lo cacciano anche da là e subito dopo il Barcellona rivince tutto ... tanti indizi fanno una pr... anzi una certezza. A mio avviso Branca non è così pirla come molti lo descrivono: la cessione di Ibra per Eto'o (già così un affarone) più i soldi con cui sono arrivati Sneijder e Milito è stata la più grande operazione della storia e di fatto ha portato al triplete, che con lui l'Inter non avrebbe mai vinto. Quindi Caro Ibra, grazie per le grandi prestazioni offerte ma adesso meno ciance e meno mal di pancia, vinci qualcosa in europa (magari non con il Milan) altrimenti resti un gran giocatore ma non un campione, e per di più cafone.
