Some bad for both Borini and Juan. Borini could be out until the New Year, over two months, with a serious thigh strain or maybe even a tear. He had to use crutches after the game last night and will have an MRI today. Juan also suffered a thigh strain once again and could be out for a month, which is disastrous for him.

That article also points out if all these thigh/muscle/tendon injuries are related to the intense athletic training (by LE's fitness trainer Pol Cabanellas), as along with Juan and Borini, Greco, Totti, Lobont, Kjaer and Pjanic have all suffered similar injuries.

Bad display all around. But, perhaps our worst signing of the summer so far has received the least amount of negativity. Stecklenburg has been bad. Many of the goals have not been his fault but frankly 1 or 2 quality saves would have netted us 2-4 points.

Cote has gotten worse or at the very least less and less impactful as the season goes on.

Pjanic has had his moments but i'd like to see a good through ball on the ground. So far it's been 1 or 2 chips.

The buying of 2 CAMs, 3 forwards and 1 CB (who's been warming the bench) was horrible oversite. Frankly having Marco and a "Bo" right he pine every match while fielding Heinze and Burdi pretty much says it all.

Here's a question for everyone. I've been thinking a lot lately on if LE would endeavor to perhaps contemplate a change of system for us, as in would he scrap this fluctuating formation and Barca-style 'possesso paella', as I call it? Perhaps not so much the 'possesso paella' part, come to think of it, as that is more a tactic and method of play, even if it is related to the formation, but would he be willing to ditch the '4-3-3 > 3-4-1-2' to a more stable, set formation which may better suit the players and the 'method'? Why not try a set 4-3-3, with a regular back four with DDR behind two other midfielders and two 'wing-forwards' either side of a prima punta, or perhaps a 4-3-1-2, much like how we have now, without the 'change'. Or even a set 3-5-2, while we're at it?

I know everyone has stressed patience, and Sabatini said as much again after the Milan defeat, and I agree, but its not really a question of being more patient or allowing more time to see the this complicated system come to fruition and see it working. I have no problem with doing that; everything is new, not only the system, but the players, the management team and the society, so change and transition and new methods and ways of thinking is all very fine and good, of course that is going to take time. But a change of formation to better suit the players in the squad, like I said above, which may benefit the players and lesson the tactical strain, is that something which should perhaps be entertained, do we think? Thoughts?

The formation is probably not really the issue just now.

Roma just aren't moving the ball fast enough and don't have people running with sufficient purpose off the ball to open teams up.

And all systems and styles of play are rendered pointless if you are going to concede goals from set-pieces.

(Corriere dello Sport - R. Maida) - Qui Trigoria, sede di una compagnia. Franco Baldini è stato chiaro: la Roma compra già a gennaio. Se poi vende, e si sgrava da contratti faticosi, ancora meglio.

E allora Sabatini si lancia su molti fronti, su diverse idee di calciatore: per l’inverno si cercano uomini fatti, pronti, possibilmente giovani ma non sprovveduti, che riescano a incidere subito sulla squadra. Le priorità sono per gli esterni e per il centrocampo.

IN MEZZO - In estate la Roma ha seguito molti mediani, qualche regista, poi ha preso Pjanic e Gago. Ma al reparto manca un corridore, un Perrotta più giovane e qualitativo, una mezz’ala alla Marchisio (che infatti è stato chiesto alla Juve in cambio di Vucinic). E allora possono tornare validi i nomi di Guarin e Lassana Diarra (Real Madrid), due fisse di Sabatini. Sono più cari i francesi M’Vila (Rennes) e Moussa Sissoko (Tolosa), già punti fermi della nazionale di Blanc, non contando il brasiliano Casemiro, un vecchio sogno. Una giusta via di mezzo potrebbe essere Josuha Guilavogui, 21 anni, centrocampista difensivo del Saint-Etienne, di cui Sabatini ha chiesto informazioni anche di recente. E’ titolare dell’Under 21 francese. Piacciono anche Kevin Strootman (pure lui del ‘90), olandese del Psv, e Verratti, giovane del Pescara di Zeman.

IN FASCIA - Tra gli esterni, ricordando che la Roma può tesserare due extracomunitari, Sabatini sta sondando in Brasile, dove Wallace e Gabriel Silva sarebbero molto graditi: uno a destra e l’altro a sinistra. Ma nelle ultime ore, la Roma si è mossa anche in Germania e Francia: attraverso un agente Fifa ha bussato all’Amburgo per Dennis Diekmeier (1989) e al Bayer Leverkusen per Daniel Schwaab (1988), due laterali destri buoni per le esigenze immediate e anche per la programmazione. Così come un altro giocatore, segnalato da Luis Enrique e approvato da Heinze: lo spagnolo Cesar Azpilicueta, 22 anni, esterno destro del Marsiglia. In Italia occhio all’italo-argentino Schelotto dell’Atalanta.

DAVANTI - Se poi dovesse partire Borriello, via libera all’acquisto di un attaccante. Magari diverso per caratteristiche. La Roma vorrebbe una seconda punta adattabile al ruolo di centravanti, non viceversa. Un tipo alla Palacio, per intendersi, che infatti è stato chiesto al Genoa fino alle ultime ore del mercato di agosto. Hernandez è il desiderio proibito di Sabatini, Podolski un’ «utopia» vera e non metaforica, il brasiliano Leandro Damiao un calciatore che può fare al caso di Luis Enrique pur essendo un centravanti. Senza dimenticare che la Roma ha già messo le mani su Nicolas Lopez, nuovo talento del mercato uruguayano: gioca nel Nacional di Montevideo, ha 18 anni e le caratteristiche per fare sia la punta che il trequartista. Dovrebbe arrivare a giugno ma chissà che Sabatini non riesca a portarlo subito a Trigoria.

I don't mind if they can get a 'young' version of Perrotta, though, as this style of play would benefit from someone who will run tirelessly, as long as he can do so with some intelligence and use the spaces well. (this is when maro would probably say 'profundità)'. If we are shopping again, looking at wide players isn't a bad idea. As soon as Rosi went down, we had to go back to Cassetti at rb and I don't think Taddei is really the lb we want if Angel goes out.

Un talento finalmente ritrovato, quello di Mirko Vucinic. Decisivo il cambio della maglia, visto che con la Juventus il montenegrino sta tornando ad essere decisivo.
