Italian champion AC Milan has reportedly increased coach Massimiliano Allegri's salary by 500,000euros ($700,000), but will wait until the end of the season before deciding on a possible renewal.

The Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Milan vice president Adriano Galliani called Allegri in for a meeting last week and raised the manager's salary from ?1.5 million ($2.1 million) to ?2 million ($2.8 million) per year.

Having led Milan to the Serie A title in his first year in charge last season, Allegri's two-year contract is set to expire at the end of this season.

After a slow start, Milan is starting to show signs of improved form, and was aiming for its third consecutive league win against Parma later Wednesday.

Even if I think he overdoes it sometime with defensive approach, you cannot get rid of a manager who just won you the title after 7-year drought and probably on course to defend it as well. It's not like there are some world class managers sitting around waiting and, even if they were, I have hard time believing they can get more out this squad than Allegri does. Our squad is what it is.

For sure, all valid points. I know though that both PM and vtec want to see the back of him. His style of play is quite ugly and make Milan play some really horrible football, even if it does bring results domestically (which may change soon). He also seems to be content to be Galliani's little pet, happy with whatever scraps he throws him in the mercato to bolster his squad.

Yeah, they have their valid points too, Milanisti are all accustomed to quality style of football from Milan over the years. unfortunately as long as the management keeps it this way its hard to expect more. I don't see any manager magically make us play champagne football with the team as it is. I'm just trying to be realistic about it I guess.

Thats a good way of looking at it. Your management isn't committing the funds to get the top players you need, so you have make do with a manager who is content with players likes Van Bommel and Nocerino and can get the best for them.

it's hard to disagree about accepting the team we have, and i really doubt allegri will be shown the door, but i just want to see him evolve as a manager and have us playing some good football rather than just booting the ball up to ibra all the time.

and you're right about van bommel and ambrosini, we've been shipping goals because van bommel has been sucking it up. i will give ambrosini the excuse of being played out of position, but so far in the parma game he's doing pretty well. some of the parma players still have some time to shoot from distance, so he's got to work on closing them down sooner.

we're playing alright, haven't created any serious opportunities and our first goal was a result of a dumb fuck up by the parma defenders.

nocerino is getting some good confidence with the ball, and he's doing an incredible job at the moment.

we're keeping giovinco quiet for the most part, squeezing out the space between the lines, so lets hope we can keep him that way and close the game off in style.

regardless, we need to tighten up at the back, even though i'm sure burdisso was fouling zambrotta for roma's first goal. and aquilani isslowly growing into his role, he's doinga wonderful job of working the ball betweeen the lines and he covers a lot of ground as well.

my 2pence worth for what it's worth, Milan defended average and if Roma were not so pussy they could have had a hatful of goals although Nesta defended like a true pro once again, Aqua man showed his worth playing those beautiful crosses into the box and i thought it was one of MVB better games this season, booking aside also when all is said and done Ibra is a huge player for us, he really plays the front line well and also dropped back to defend at least once which i liked to see. overall a good well fought for 3 points an Roma looked good with the ball they just need to stop pissing around and become a little more clinical.

also Cassano is in hospital he remained in the Emergency Department of Policlinico of Milan until h 16.30 then it was placed in the hospital neurology department, poor guy sounds like he might have had a stroke people are saying, hope he is going to be okay.

AC Milan are winning and smiling. Pato is not needed anymore and could be transferred soon.
Pato is a second forward and cannot replace Ibra. Additionally, Milan have to keep an eye on their balance sheet and cannot spend a lot of money as they did in the past. It is now clear that Pato could leave in June, and the midfield will be restructured with the arrivals or Casemiro, Montolivo and Eriksen. More money will be spend for a central defender to replace Nesta (Ogbonna?), a keeper (Lloris) and a forward.

Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City are interested, but AC Milan are asking for 45 million euro, at least.

Antonio Cassano is set to spend a second night in hospital as tests try to ascertain what caused his fainting spell.

Milan have only confirmed that the striker was “taken ill” as the team returned from Rome and landed at the Malpensa airport and is at the Policlinico hospital in Milan.

According to the latest reports, Cassano had a fainting spell in the airport, his vision was blurred and he had difficulty speaking.

The 29-year-old was kept overnight in the Neurology department of the clinic and will be there for at least one more night to undergo tests.

Clearly, Cassano will not fly out with the rest of the Milan squad for Tuesday’s Champions League trip to BATE Borisov.
