Roma, Fabio Simplicio: La Maravilla di Luis Enrique

A casa Simplicio è tornato il buonumore. Il brasiliano prepara il secondo atto, quello della rivincita. E dopo il gol all'Atalanta si candida per una maglia da titolare nella sfida contro la Lazio di Reja che Simplicio ha imparato a conoscerlo a sue spese negli ultimi derby (un gol e un rigore guadagnato dal centrocampista in due partite). 'Non dimenticherò mai quelle emozioni', confessa timidamente Simplicio con un sorriso che gli riempie la faccia da Cicciobello che a Roma gli è costata qualche critica di troppo. 'E' sovrappeso', si diceva al suo arrivo nella capitale un anno fa, ma era tutta un'impressione (basta vederlo senza maglietta per cambiare idea). Quando a Roma ti affibbiano un soprannome, però, è impresa impossibile scrollarselo di dosso. Figuriamoci uno che di soprannomi ne ha tre: i compagni infatti lo chiamano Pumba (come il paffuto facocero de Il Re Leone), i tifosi lo hanno ribattezzato Arnold (per via della sua somiglianza con il personaggio del telefilm), mentre qualche critico ha storpiato il suo nome in Fabio Supplìcio.

Per Luis Enrique è semplicemente Fabio Maravilla, perché proprio il tecnico si è dovuto ricredere sulle qualità del brasiliano. Escluso dalla lista dei convocati durante il ritiro estivo, Simplicio ha convinto Luis Enrique in silenzio, sudando da solo al caldo di Trigoria. 'Non ci penso ad andarmene. Lavoro il doppio e faccio cambiare idea al mister', aveva detto. E così ha fatto. Da reietto a protagonista, come nella scorsa stagione quando Ranieri non lo schierava nemmeno nelle partitelle d'allenamento. 'Simplicio, Simplicio perché non fai giocare Simplicio. Mi chiedete sempre la stessa cosa', sbottò il tecnico. Fabio Maravilla sorprese anche lui. Facile per uno che come idolo si è scelto Carlos Dunga. 'Tutti i brasiliani sognano Ronaldo o Pelè, io preferisco Dunga perché aveva grinta e non mollava mai'. Una scelta che da sola basterebbe a spiegare il personaggio. Simplicio infatti è brasiliano di nascita, ma è europeo nella testa.

Un gesto da Roma lo fece Antonio Conte, 48 anni, Presidente dell'Ordine degli Avvocati di Roma, il giorno dell'accordo tra ItalPetroli e UniCredit, presso l'ufficio dell'avvocato Cesare Ruperto. Mentre si stava decidendo il futuro della Roma e del gruppo dei Sensi, il legale della società giallorossa notò una bandiera biancoceleste appesa davanti ad un appartamento vicino lo studio. Un gesto goliardico, chissà riconducibile a chi, ma che non piacque a nessuno. A lui per primo. Tanto che uscì in balcone, afferrò quel pezzo di stoffa e la gettò a terra. A fine serata, poi, quando le trattative si conclusero, scherzò sull'accaduto: “Mi sarei vergognato se non l'avessi fatto”, disse col sorriso sulle labbra.

Ricorda quell'8 luglio 2010?
“(sorride) Molto bene. Era un pomeriggio caldissimo, c'erano cose molto più importanti di cui occuparsi. In quel momento eravamo nervosi perché si stava gestendo un passaggio delicato, nessuno di noi aveva senso dell'umorismo. Figuriamoci dover sopportare il sarcasmo di un sostenitore laziale”.

Ma lei è più romanista o antilaziale?
“(qualche secondo di riflessione) Sono innamorato della Roma, ma la vittoria nel derby è sempre qualcosa di molto speciale”.

Cosa significa derby?
“È una partita particolare. Il successo mi dà un'emozione indescrivibile. L'ho sempre sentita moltissimo, fin da bambino”.

Stefano Pantano sostiene che siete amici. È vero?
“Chi?”.

“Ah, lo schermidore laziale. Beh, amico è una parola grossa. Ci siamo incrociati alcune volte al Coni, scambiandoci qualche battuta, ma niente di più”.

Domenica sarò allo stadio.
“Sì, dovrei esserci”.

La stracittadina più bella?
“Gli ultimi cinque che abbiamo vinto mi hanno divertito parecchio, ma anche il 5-1 con i quattro gol di Montella e il cucchiaio di Totti a Peruzzi resta nella storia”.

Quella, invece, da dimenticare?
“Il periodo dei quattro derby all'epoca Zeman, in una stagione sola. Quelle sconfitte mi diedero parecchio fastidio”.

Per la prima volta nella storia di un derby in tribuna non ci sarà un presidente della Roma italiano. Che effetto le fa?
“È una situazione di grande fascino. DiBenedetto ha grandissime idee, questo signore ha dato prova di quanto sia forte il suo attaccamento alla società”.

È stato confermato legale As Roma. Gratificato?
“Non sono l'avvocato della Roma, ma sono della Roma. Per me è un onore difendere la squadra che amo”.

La Roma, la sua Roma, dunque, è finita in mani americane. È fiducioso per il futuro?
“Le prospettive per un progetto vincente ci sono tutte, dobbiamo essere ottimisti”.

Morning Gentlemen. So I shall be embarking to Rome on the 21st of this month just in time for Roma vs Palermo. I could catch Genoa vs Roma midweek, and then Roma vs Milan when i get back. Does anyone have any updated info on how to purchase tickets for away games?

You can't really purchase tickets for away games, can you, without a tessera del tifoso card? But thats just to get into the away section with all the traveling Ultras, you could always just buy tickets for the main stands when you get to Genoa and be in the with the Genoa tifosi.

It would be nice to see Bojan score on Sunday alright, but given Osvaldo's recent run of form I think he's our most likely goalscorer. I wonder if Borriello might not be in line for a start on Sunday given Totti's likely absence, but then that would be at the expense of Bojan, or maybe even Pjanic who may play further up the field. Pjanic, Bojan and Osvalso is a completely new forward department to face the merda, maybe we could do with the experience of Borriello in there.

Things are not looking good on the De Rossi contract front.



Il rinnovo di Daniele De Rossi è sempre più lontano: "Senza di me la Roma risparmierebbe un sacco di soldi e potrebbe prendere un giocatore più forte di me..."

E’ sempre più lontano da Roma il futuro di Daniele De Rossi. La firma sul rinnovo di quel contratto che scadrà la prossima estate tarda ad arrivare, nonostante il club giallorosso abbia già offerto un cospicuo adeguamento economico, e un addio a fine stagione è sempre più probabile.

Teoria rafforzata dalle ultime dichiarazioni del centrocampista che in maniera sibillina – ma altrettanto chiara – ha fatto capire cosa succederà da qui a giugno. “La cosa più importante è la squadra, il futuro della Roma. Più importante anche del mio futuro. Il club giallorosso sta costruendo qualcosa di veramente importante a prescindere da me e quindi il mio rinnovo non deve diventare un assillo costante. Inoltre potrebbero risparmiare un sacco di soldi e puntare su un giocatore anche più forte del sottoscritto”.

Gelo a Trigoria. Tifosi disperati, società spiazzata. Parole che nascondono una decisione probabilmente presa già da mesi. Difficilmente De Rossi firmerà il nuovo contratto, anche se nel calcio ovviamente mai dire mai. Alla finestra il Manchester City di Roberto Mancini, pronto a coprire d’oro il centrocampista italiano con un contratto da quasi 10 milioni netti a stagione, ma anche l’Inter di Moratti, da sempre innamorato di De Rossi. Difficile, però, che il giocatore possa “tradire” la Roma per un altro club italiano. Più plausibile, quindi, la pista estero con la Premiershit e i Citizens nettamente in pole position.

I HAVE to assume that DDR is just "negotiating." He knows that the tifosi would be FURIOUS with the new management if they fail to retain him and is using this for leverage. I don't think he will leave.

Totti sounds convinced that De Rossi will be staying and that its just a matter of working out the details. That’s reassuring to hear. I have to say, though, I am a little worried that the club haven’t sorted out his new contract. I can understand Daniele holding out for a big contract, he’s fully entitled to do so and get what he deserves, but he’d be the last player imaginable who you’d think would be a position to let his contract run down and leave the club on a free. So how did it get to this stage (with no agreement coming soon)? Both ownerships have to take the blame. Rosella for not getting his contract sorted out in agreeable terms for both parties when there was still plenty of time to negotiate, and Di Benedetto for not putting his renewal at the top of his list. I agree with Giovanni about Di Benedetto . He talks a good talk about respecting the clubs history and culture and doing everything to keep the fans happy with the new ownership – and in fairness to him, he hasn’t stumbled yet – but not renewing De Rossi’s contract would be a pure disaster across the board.

Should be a great derby as they usually are. I won't make any predictions for as we all know when it comes to the derby form doesn't matter.
I believe it's looking likely there will be a good sized crowd at the Olimpico as well. I don't have any numbers but I've seen reports of sections of the stadio sold out.
The Curva Sud won't be displaying any colours or banners in protest of the Tessera del Tifosi.

No colours or banners, really? Well thats a shame, it always looks amazing and builds a great atmosphere, especially in a Derby. This Tessera del Tifosi is a loada bollix.

For the record, I do not think I will see a new Stadium in my lifetime. I pray that I am wrong. If Di Benedetto says 5 years, then you should expect 10 to 15 years minimum. I know this, Di Benedetto won't be alive to see it.

I had a feeling Di Benedetto did not realise what he was getting into when buying Roma:

“It’s a new experience for me and I’m someone who really doesn’t like to be public, now all of a sudden I’m a public figure at least in Rome,” he said. “I’m surprised how intense it has been, yes. I thought it would be a lot but I never anticipated it would be like this.”

Yes Giovanni, you can't help but get that sense about the plans for the new stadio alright. I guess we can't help it, given all the (minor) ups and (major) downs associated with all things giallorosso. You have to hope though, I suppose, that things will be different with this new management, that its not just empty words with no real actions to back them up, and so far you have to say they are going about things in the right manner. The plans of 2013 – I think there was even one for 2012 – are very unrealistic, and 2015 seems more logical, but like you said if they can stick to anywhere near that timeframe they will be doing extremely well.

If Di Benedetto doesn't like really like to be a public figure, then he's not showing it so far. And it shows how little he knew of the life of a club presidente in Italia if he thought it wasn't going to be intense. He can always get someone to fill in for him, to do most of the public side of things that his job entails, and I imagine he will do something like that in the future when things have moved on a little.



I think I should call this the 'Halo of Death'. I was looking at this pic earlier, and its crazy to think this great team which we all loved is so far gone now. 7 of the 11 gone, with a question mark hanging over another, and two more seemingly off the radar completely. This was only three seasons ago, away to Chelski in the CL in 2008, but it seems like just yesterday.

Is it just me who's a little less confident for the game Sunday night than previous derbies? Not sure why. I guess the Bratislava, Cagliari games etc are still niggling away in my head somewhere. No Il Capitano either.

Would love it if we can win though - 6 in a row would be incredible. Daje Roma!
