My patience is starting to run out. After 5 official games, still no wins. If LE was fielding a team of Caprari, Viviani, Verre, Lamela, Bojan, Pjanic, Borini, Angel, Crescenzi, etc., I would have more patience but the teams he is fielding has enough experience that there is no excuse for their performance to be this poor. Siena should have beaten us 3-0. If they don't win Sunday, the management needs to start making some phone calls lining up a replacement.

Individually, none of the players were that bad yesterday. Collectively, the team did nothing. We created ZERO danger. THAT is on the system! That is on LE.

We are significantly missing a player that can run at defenders. Maybe Lamela can do it when he comes back? DDR, in his new position can't do it. Pizarro did it a little bit against Inter but that isn't his game either. Angel did it less yesterday but he can do it. He is a wingback though and we need someone that can do it more towards the middle of the field. I thought maybe Pjanic can do it but he hasn't shown me the willingness to try (or maybe LE has told him not to?). I think LE should move Totti up as one of the strikers alongside Borini (the one forward who has shown me the most) and at trequartista he needs to put somebody that can run at defenders. Perhaps as we wait for Lamela, try Pjanic there and put a midfield of DDR, Piz and Gago? Or maybe Bojan? LE MUST realize that without a player that can run at defenders (forgive me for the Barca comparison) like Messi with Barca, this system can't work.

How do Roma plan to create chances with this system?

I can see how most of the movements work defensively and for ball retention, but I can't figure out how you are going to open teams up with that possession. Things might be different if Perrotta goes back into midfield and Bojan turns out to be useful and moves in behind teams, but all Roma's play is in front of teams just now and in pretty harmless areas of the pitch.

I wonder what Enrique is making of playing in a league where even the shit teams can cut you open if you play slow, sideways, nothingy football.

The big difference, of course, when comparing LE's start to that of Spalletti's when he took over were the resources each had at their disposal. Or in Spalletti's case, the total lack of resources. We we're under a transfer ban, weren't we, and had to rely on free signings like Nonda and Kuffour? And had no strikers. And yet Spalletti somehow managed to build a team and find a system which worked, and thus a terrible beauty was born. LE, on the other hand, has had everything a new manager could want; lots of money and new players and a massive squad ( players used so far, the most of any team), a new management team and board, a ultra-supporting president, and while I do of course agree that he needs more time and should be given more time, the signs are looking ominous and the doubts will continue to increase, and its getting more confusing with each game.

Thats the big question, Red, and no one really knows. There's no point in having 70% possession (like against Siena) if we cant do anything with it. And we did do little with it; we had feck all clear cut chances on goal. In fact, I'd say Siena had more goal chances. The problems are stacking up, like the lads have been saying: little pace, depth, no urgency, no one that can run at defenders or beat a man, players unsure of their roles, unsettled selections, players out of position, Totti perhaps playing deeper than he should, the list goes on. And at the end of it all the big doubt remains if we have the players in the squad to play the type of football that LE is trying to play, and I don't think we do. He's trying to do too much, too fast.

Anyway, for our game tomorrow night, Lamela and Steakburger didn't participate in today, along with Greco and Okaka. Cici could come in at right-back for Perrotta, while Gago could replace Pizza, who has a back strain. Burdisso could also be dropped for Heinze, which is a strange one (did Burdisso get a knock?). Bojan could come back up top alongside Totti and Osvaldo, but Borriello could also start again, and then maybe Borini could get a start. Pff, take a guess.

Gago out with a thigh strain. Cicinho has also been left out by choice of LE, saying its a "technical decision". Personally I think its cos he's shite, as he showed when he came on against Siena and almost gave away a goal with a schoolboy attempt at defending. Okaka also left out by choice I believe, while Juan still isn't fit enough to be considered.

The first half was very poor indeed, but the second half was more encouraging. There were flashes, only flashes but still, of more urgency and quicker passing and a couple more chances were created. That said, Biabiany should have done a lot better after he left Heinze standing for pace.

Let's have a home win next week against Atalanta, so we're going into the merda game on a bit of a run.

Totti was superb tonight too. Can't remember him giving the ball away at all, and his long range effort second half was very unlucky and deserved to go in.

Incredible how Totti is playing at his age. He is simply the finest player of his generation.
