Ranieri, Guardiola or whoever the manager is, I just want stability! I don't see this happening though.

So is Ranieri a stopgap (thats what I called him at Roma) or what? As in is he just in there to fill the position quick and then at the end of the season Moratti is going to have a serious, proper think about it and go after someone good, such as Guardiola? Or is Ranieri your man to lead Inter in a new era?

The real problem is not whether next year we have Ranieri or Guardiola ... the real problem is that in a time of transition we are not planning for the. Between 5 and 7 years ago in a span of 2 - 3 years we got players like Stankovic, Cambiasso, Maicon, Cesar etc that formed the basis for the team that then, with important additions went to win a lot of trophies. This is what we need to do now get 4- 5 players that are already good players in their early / mid 20s on which we can build the future. It is true we cannot compete with British or Spanish clubs ... but we are also losing targets to Italian clubs. For instance, I cannot understand how come we haven't tried to sign Ilner from Udinese.

Inter without Sneijder and Stankovic

Wesley Sneijder and Dejan Stankovic are out of Inter’s trip to Bologna on Saturday afternoon.

It will be Claudio Ranieri’s first game in charge of the Nerazzurri, who are still without a win in all competition this season.

Sneijder limped off during the 3-1 defeat to Novara on Tuesday night with a thigh problem that has still not healed, so he is not even in the squad.

Stankovic also misses out along with Ivan Cordoba, Douglas Maicon, Thiago Motta, Andrea Poli and Emiliano Viviano.

Defender Andrea Ranocchia begins his three-match ban for a red card and insulting the official in Novara.

The game kicks off at the Stadio Dall’Ara at 17.00 UK time.

Mourinho: 'Forza Ranieri!'

Jose Mourinho has put aside his often vicious rivalry with Claudio Ranieri. “I want Inter to win, so Forza Ranieri!”

The Special One engaged in a series of battles over the media with Ranieri when he was at San Siro, but now the former Juventus and Roma boss has taken on his old job.

“I do not consider myself a pseudo fan, but rather an outright Inter fan,” said Mourinho in a Press conference for Real Madrid.

“This is why I don’t care who the Coach is, I just want Inter to win. If it is Ranieri now, then I say Forza Ranieri, I hope he can succeed.”

Since Mourinho’s departure in May 2010, the Nerazzurri have been all at sea with four different tacticians.

“Don’t worry, I am not a great Coach. It’s unlikely someone like me can be missed,” said Mou in a perhaps unique moment of modesty.

Stankovic: 'Ranieri will revive Inter'

Dejan Stankovic trusts Claudio Ranieri will “drag Inter out of the mud after Gian Piero Gasperini’s inevitable exit.”

The Serbian midfielder is currently out injured, so cannot play in Ranieri’s debut against Bologna this afternoon, kick-off at 17.00 UK time.

“I am not surprised by Gasperini’s exit. It was inevitable after three defeats in four games,” Stankovic told Press.

“Ranieri worked in big clubs and he will certainly help to take us out of this very difficult situation. He’ll drag us out of the mud.”

The Nerazzurri have only one point in three Serie A games, while they also lost to Milan in the Italian Super Cup and Trabzonspor in the Champions League.

“Not even in my worst nightmare could I have imagined a worse start to the season,” confessed Stankovic.

“Don’t forget not so long ago with Jose Mourinho we touched the stars. Then we changed four different Coaches and it’s tough to get used to new working methods and tactics.

“This crisis must come to an end, just as our triumph reached its natural conclusion.”

Giampaolo Pazzini, Diego Milito and Lucio gave Claudio Ranieri's Inter a 3-1 victory in Bologna.

The Nerazzurri sacked Gian Piero Gasperini after a 3-1 defeat to Novara on Tuesday evening and Ranieri only had two days to prepare for his debut. Without Wesley Sneijder, Dejan Stankovic, Ivan Cordoba, Douglas Maicon, Thiago Motta, Andrea Poli and Emiliano Viviano, while Andrea Ranocchia sat out a three-match ban, the Coach opted for a 4-4-2 with Diego Forlan and Giampaolo Pazzini. Coutinho started wide right, but continually cut into the centre. Bologna picked up their first point of the season in a 1-1 at Juventus midweek, while Alessandro Diamanti and Jean-Francois Gillet passed late fitness tests.

Inter had a great chance after eight minutes, as a free kick was not dealt with and landed at Walter Samuel's feet, but Gillet parried from point-blank range with his leg.

Bologna also went very close, as Marco Di Vaio sprung the offside trap on a Panagiotis Kone' pass, but curled over the bar with only Julio Cesar to beat. Cristian Chivu had been caught out of position.

It was a fast and furious start from both sides, as Forlan smashed his shot against the near post from outside the box with a powerful strike. A corner came out to Coutinho, whose daisy-cutter from distance skimmed the upright.

Pazzini just failed to get his diving header to a Forlan cross, but the Italian did get the opening goal soon after. It was a well-worked team move finalised by a powerful Pazzini strike from distance and Gillet got a hand to it, but couldn't keep the ball from dribbling over the line.

Samuel needed a perfectly-timed block to charge down Di Vaio's angled drive at the near stick, as the offside trap faltered again in first half stoppages.

After the restart Coutinho went on a solo run charged down, but passed it back to Esteban Cambiasso for a curling lob that thumped the crossbar.

At the other end, Di Vaio's header into the ground was sneaking in at the far bottom corner before Julio Cesar scrambled across to bat it off the line.

Julio Cesar also flew to palm a brilliant Gaston Ramirez free kick out of the near top corner. However, from the resulting set play, Samuel dragged down Daniele Portanova for a penalty. Julio Cesar guessed the angle of Alessandro Diamanti's spot-kick, but couldn't keep it out.

Gillet rushed to block at Sulley Muntari's feet, earning a knock to the shoulder. He'd been knocked unsconscious in Wednesday's draw in Turin, so was particularly concerned and made way for Federico Agliardi.

A Ramirez free kick whipped all the way across the face of goal with two Bologna players lunging, but unable to get the final touch as it skimmed the far post. The hosts were dominating the second half, but shot themselves in the foot.

Cambiasso won back the ball in midfield and his pass was flicked on for Diego Milito, whose heels were clipped by Archimede Morleo. The penalty and red card were inevitable, which Milito converted powerfully to restore Inter's lead.

Muntari went on the counter to test Agliardi with a screamer, but Lucio secured the victory with a glancing header from Muntari's free kick.

Ranieri: 'Inter started on right foot'

Claudio Ranieri notes it was “important to start on the right foot” by winning his Inter debut at the Dall’Ara.

The Coach only took charge on Thursday after Gian Piero Gasperini’s dismissal, but secured their first victory of the season in all competition.

“It was important to start on the right foot, as the lads have to get back on track,” said Ranieri after the 3-1 result over Bologna.

“I had asked for the performance, which was more important than the result. It was crucial that we fight for 90 minutes and this was a good game.

“The first half was positive, we allowed Marco Di Vaio only one scoring opportunity. We were very practical and also entertaining in some moments. Coutinho gave us the lightness of touch that we needed and the rest of the squad was compact.

“After the break Bologna pushed hard and I made the changes I thought were apt.”

Both Giampaolo Pazzini and Diego Milito were on target, though the Argentine came off the bench.

“Could they play together from the start? I don’t know, but I did say they can co-exist. They are two hitmen with different characteristics. Diego Forlan is a support striker and he did this splendid work for the team.”

How did Ranieri manage to turn the situation around in just two days?

“I am convinced these lads needed this confidence and we have to get back all the injured players. We must continue to grow and work, as we’ve done nothing yet.”

Wesley Sneijder was out due to a thigh injury and the Coach revealed the problem is dragging on.

“Sneijder can play anywhere, but in my view should be close to the goal. My fear is losing him for longer than expected, as the injury seems worse than it did yesterday and he won’t come with us to Moscow.”

Inter play CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Nothing spectacular yesterday but we played MUCH better than the first 3 games ... watching the combinations for the first goal and the one that resulted in our penalty was good to see again. Defence looked more solid with 4 at the back. Lets see how we behave next Tuesday now ...

Inter injury crisis for Moscow

Claudio Ranieri is facing an injury crisis ahead of Inter’s trip to CSKA Moscow, as Wesley Sneijder is one of several midfielders ruled out.

The new Coach got off to a strong start with a 3-1 victory away to Bologna on Saturday.

Sneijder and Dejan Stankovic already missed out on that game and it does not look as if they will recover in time for Tuesday’s Champions League test either.

Joel Obi picked up a muscular problem during the Bologna tie and is also a doubt for Moscow.

Ranieri confirmed Sneijder’s injury “is worse than previously thought” and he’ll require more tests to see if the thigh strain will keep him out of next week’s Serie A clash with Napoli as well.

Sulley Muntari cannot play in the Champions League, as he was left off the UEFA list.

It suggests the only available midfielders are Javier Zanetti, Esteban Cambiasso and Ricky Alvarez, though Cristian Chivu can be pushed up to a more advanced position.
