I really don't care who comes in short term as long as they play a system that works with this team. It makes no sense to bring in another coach who will end up playing 3-4-3 or some other formation that doesn't work with our squad. Thinking on those lines, how do Raineri, Delio Rossi and Flores compare?

I blame Moratti and co. for the situation we are in. It is not Gasperini's fault, the club should have known better.

Not happy with the reports that we have offered him 2 years rather than 1 year with an option for a second. He will probably get us to second this season and then start poorly next season and we will be back to square one.

I have high expectations with Ranieri as our coach. Second is a minimum, but in all seriousness, I would not be surprised to see Ranieri claim his first scudetto. We have the team, and our closest rivals (Juve, Milan, Napoli, Lazio and Roma) have all be stumbling and have not been convincing in all of their matches. Depending on how we go by December/January, Moratti should strengthen the team if we have a serious chance of winning the title.
Maybe I am getting a bit a head of myself, he hasn't even managed his first match yet

It's the new manager effect, we should beat anyone we come up against considering it's Ranieri's first match in charge.
Yes I am getting way ahead of myself here and, yes Ranieri hasn't even managed us in a match yet, but seeing what he has been able to do in the past as a care taker coach, and with Gasperini gone, I just have a good feeling about this.


...given the situation we are in the moment, its better that we be optimistic rather than pessimistic or we can count the season over.

Its been a couple of seasons now that we have been talking about Guardiola. Even if he comes next season, which I think is unlikely, there is no way he can win trophies with this squad. He is a good coach but we also have to take into consideration the squad he has at Barcelona. Our squad is past it and unless we bring in quality reinforcements not even Guardiola or Mourinho can save us.

Ranieri: 'I will get Inter winning again'

Claudio Ranieri has given his first official press conference as Inter Coach and promised he will return the players to winning ways.

Inter unveiled Ranieri as their fourth Coach of the last 12 months during Friday's news conference held before the team face Bologna this weekend.

The Rome-born tactician began by answering questions on how it felt to take the job.

“There are so many emotions, it what I do this job for. Sometimes emotions are beautiful, sometimes they are unpleasant.

“I am proud to be a part of the Nerazzurri family. I am here because there were problems that led to a change of Coach, I am sorry. Now the most important thing is that we regain our confidence and self-esteem. And most of all, score.”

Ranieri's final training session before the players travel to face Bologna on Saturday saw Wesley Sneijder pull up with a muscle strain in his leg, for which the Coach expressed his disappointment.

“Sneijder's injury is not wanted. I told him to go slow, but he is always strong. He kicked in the door with anger and pain is felt, we hope it is nothing serious. I hope to have him available in Moscow, but I don't want to risk him.

“[Giampaolo] Pazzini and [Diego] Milito are compatible and able to move well. they are opportunists and look incompatible. The idea is to go ahead in the same team, but from now until tomorrow I can change that. I'm not held to one formation.”

Ranieri also fielded questions on taking over the dressing room that once belonged to Jose Mourinho, who was involved in several media-based clashes with Ranieri, but the former Juve and Roma man was diplomatic.

“Do not forget anything because he is in the history of Inter - Herrera and Mourinho are indelible. We were enemies in the media, but he is a Coach who I respect.

“I did not expect [to be here] because my mind was set abroad. You must be proud though when a club like Inter thinks of you. Moratti, we talked about everything, I won't go into details.”

“This is the beginning of a new path. These guys are champions and I think they have the desire to react. They have fallen, but the most important thing is to get up and fight.

“Since facing them as an opponent, I know it is hard to shoot them down. I want to see that compact and cohesive group, who never releases its hold.

“At this moment the most important thing is the result, and to score. The players need to rediscover their self-esteem because currently things are downcast. They are used to winning and it is normal that when things don't go well, it depresses them.

“The obligation is to win everywhere, even with Parma, where otherwise we would have been relegated. Even with Roma where there was only Pazzini who stopped us, damn him….

“At Inter, we must think just about winning, then we will focus on making the team play well, and then about getting closer to the Scudetto that is waiting for us.”

When asked whether he was thinking about his return to face Roma as the Inter Coach or not, Ranieri was insistent his focus is on the short term only.

“We are super-focused on tomorrow. I think about Bologna, then Moscow, then Napoli. We are focused on the present, and a future so far away I cannot see it.

“Tomorrow, the next game, is the most important. I do not give weight to the name of any opponent. We will go and fight against anyone.”
