Our first champions league match under Gasperini soon... I wouldn't be surprised if we came away with a loss.

For you guys, there's no excuses for a) not winning tonight and b) not winning the group.

Trabzonspor were only put in the CL because of Fenerbahce's expulsion so, even though there's doubts about Gasperini, Inter should win.

What a disastrous result tonight Defence was better than Sunday and was pretty unlucky to concede that goal ... but for the rest I have seen good effort but a lot of confusion. Worst than Sunday there is less room to recover from a defeat at home against the weakest team in the group.

So, Gasperini has successfully proved his critics wrong...by showing that the fault is not entirely with his 3-4-3 formation. That said, where do we go from here?

I think Gasperini has to learn the same lesson that Mourinho did. There is no way we can play a high defensive line and a pressurizing game with this aging midfield. Our lack of midfield signings is clearly hurting us. Change the tactics to suit the team.

Julio Cesar: 'We didn't expect this'

Julio Cesar concedes Inter “did not expect this defeat” against Trabzonspor. “We have to talk things over between ourselves.”

The Nerazzurri fell to a shock 1-0 home loss in the Champions League against the Turkish side, which followed on from Sunday’s 4-3 defeat to Palermo.

“It is a difficult moment, but we have to stay united and work together to find the right path,” said the goalkeeper.

“We did not expect a defeat like this, but it happened and now we have to find our way out of this situation.

“At times like this, we have to talk things over between ourselves and understand what we are missing so we can find the right path forward.

“It’s not about finding the guilty party or pointing the finger of blame. We just have to work.”

Inter face another tough Serie A test this weekend against Roma.

“We have to play the game of our lives, just as they all must be from now on.”

Wilson is right, like always.

Moratti and others, I think it was Paolillo who commented today, should shut their traps for a while and let Gasperini do his job. I don't think Moratti was so vocal about tactics even when Benitez was here. Backing a coach is one thing but talking about tactics and suggesting what he should change in public is another. There are some things that should remain within the club, I am surprised Moratti still doesn't know that.

Through most of his career, his pace was just about the only thing he had going for him.

unless you differentiate between quickness and top speed?

and while i'd say that he's a lumbering centerback with a very ungraceful balance, he always had his top speed to get him out of situations where he wasn't quick enough.

(on the other hand you can say that xavi is quick but his top speed is nothing spectacular).

Moratti backs new Inter tactics

Inter President Massimo Moratti will give Gian Piero Gasperini extra time to prove himself after a change in formation.

Inter lost 1-0 to Trabzonspor in the Champions League last night, but Gasperini’s decision to switch his 3-4-3 into a 4-3-3 has been met with approval by the Nerazzurri chief.

"At the moment, I think it's a question of waiting because the match tactics have been changed,” Moratti said outside his Milan offices on Thursday morning.

“I think the team showed restraint and held back a bit last night. It was an important match all right, but these things can happen.

“Should the team play with a four-man defence? Yes.”

Inter have now lost all three competitive games of the season so far, but Moratti is archiving the Italian Super Cup loss to Milan in early August.

When asked whether he thought Wednesday’s defeat was different to the others, he replied: "To others? To the other…

“We don't need to go back two months, but these are two completely different things."

Despite Moratti’s apparent faith in Gasperini, the Italian media are already speculating about possible replacements.

England boss Fabio Capello, Delio Rossi and Claudio Ranieri are all being linked with the job should Gasperini be axed.

The Nerazzurri are next in action on Saturday night against Roma.
