MILANO - The list of 25 players for the 2011/12 Champions League group stages squad has been made official by Milan.

Abate, Abbiati, Ambrosini, Amelia, Antonini, Aquilani, Boateng, Bonera, Cassano, Thiago Silva, De Sciglio, Robinho, Emanuelson, Gattuso, Ibrahimovic, Mexes, Nesta, Nocerino, Pato, Roma, Seedorf, Taiwo, Van Bommel, Yepes, Zambrotta.


There's several questionable choices there:
I dont know the fuck is De Sciglio but we included him to meet UEFA's criteria of 4 club-grown players (other 3 are Abate,Antonini and Pato) . If we dont include 4 I beleive we can include only 21 man squad so this choice is kind of justified.

Why the fuck is Bonera there though? We have 4 CBs ahead of him, and several others who can act as emergency CBs in the highly unlikely scenario we got 3 CBs out. Also, this De Sciglio guy is a defender which puzzles me even more as to why Bonera included there.

Furthermore, we could've easily not included Gattuso there, he's fucking suspended for 4 games out of 6, what the fuck. I'm not even counting the fact that I think he adds nothing to the team anyways, he's fucking suspended for 2/3 of the fucking games!! We can do without him the last 2 games FFS. Also, if the club was smart, we'd have kept one of our young midfielders like Merkel or Strasser, not only would they count against the 4 club grown players, but he'd render both De Sciglio and Gattuso useless hence, we'd have a free spot at least, 2 if this asshole Bonera is out.

Unless Pippo is done till January with 0 chance of getting fit, this is a dumb decision. In that case, perhaps he should call it a career then. Just dumb choices all over the place

finally the season is starting.

here is the predicted XI for the game against lazio merda:

Abbiati; Abbot, Nesta, T. Silva, Antonini, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Aquilani, Boateng, Cassano, Ibrahimovic.

if that turns out to be the starting lineup, we have 8 italians starting. which is pretty damn good. i can hear the romans crying.

for the most part, yes, but they interpret their roles completely different. MvB and ambrosini are fighting for the same spot in front of the defense.

i can't see why we cant have MvB as a DMF the middle two as Aquilani and Ambro with Cassano as a AMF then we can have Pato and Ibra up front

ambrosini doesn't have the legs to play for more than 25 mins as a mezzala. gattuso, for all his technical delinquencies, still covers a lot of ground in that position, which is all allegri asks of him.

we'll rarely see ambrosini and MvB in the same starting lineup together. i think they've only been on the field together for about 15 mins last season.

I agree, Ambro is not really adequate to play as a mezzala, it's him vs MvB for that holding mid spot.

I dont see much use in Rino but he should play in this one, since he's suspended on for CL. Hopefully Nocerino dislodges him soon though

Greg, did you see the match? Vtec? Shinpin? Milan looked very lethargic, very lazy. You'd swear it was the last game of the season, not the first. If they play like that against Barca they'll be annihilated.

it was pretty ridiculous actually. both teams were done after 60 minutes, i've never seen that before. sure, it was an explosive first half, but to stop playing like that was a joke.

i watched the opening matches of the premiershit, and most teams were motoring well into the 90. they've got to get some more serious fitness programs, we will get raped in barthelona, but at least make it look good.

Yeah it's not a good result but could've been disastrous after 0-2 so a disappointing result but Serie A is fairly competitive so you'll get these results along the way in a long season so it's not the end of the world, if we do play to our potential I don't think we'll have too much trouble repeating so I'm not too worried about our 1st game after a long break and the international games last week, we'll just have move on.

Yesterday's game shows what Van Bommel and Cassano are key players. Ambro will battle MvB for that holding mid spot but the way I see it, the Dutch is a clear no.1 and Ambro will be behind. Also, Gattuso and Antonini are useless but we were pretty much forced to start these 2 last night. Also, for I'd put Cassano ahead of Pato and Robinho overall, he's more complete than either. In Barcelona, I'd start Cassano-Ibra. Allegri has to get the starting XI right for this one or we'll get raped. Speaking of Barca, looks like they're resting Messi and Iniesta in today's game

well i was going to make some comments last night after the game but it looked like the forum was down, anyway i thought the first 20 minutes were a disaster apart from Aquilani's missed 1v1 chance we created zero and failed to defend the other end with any real conviction, it was only Cisse's second goal that kicked us up the ass and made us wake up, we dragged ourselves into the game again. the second half was all Milan imo, we had a few decent chances to score especially Pato's volley at the end which he managed to blaze over the crossbar. in the end we edged it overall but a point was a right result.

i'd like to add though Cassano as complete as he is will never be a striker and would like to see him as the trequartista from time to time and let Pato, Ibra and Robinho fight for the striker places.

The problem is that you guys don't have a real target man. Ibra and Cassano both like the ball at their feet to start off the offense.

I don't believe playing defence against this Barca is gonna work so I don't think Nocerino or Ambro sould start, they're happy to keep 80% possession and then tear u apart with their incredible passing, we'll need to do alot of pressing, running and just be aggressive and not afraid to attack and then hope for some luck. Barca rarely struggle abut when they do, it's usually against teams with high-workrate,
