Calcio Italia magazine has folded

I've only missed one or two copies of that since May 2003. Sad news.

I still have some old copies given to me when it was called Football Italia, from the back end of the 2000/01 season when Roma won the Scudetto. I'll treasure them.

Yeh I heard that earlier alright. There publishers went busy. Its a pity, I got the mag for years as well and it was always a great source for calcio info, but such is the modern times of the interweb-drivin media that publications like this are gonna suffer.

i can't believe they have folded. they were trying to me to subscibe again only the other day. it was getting well dodgy in the end as there was hardly anything in it - interviews were really short - and there was no release dates provided.

Each week RAI teletext have a feature called "Il Best 11'. A large panel of broadcasters and journalists give a mark to every player in every game in Serie A, these marks are then averaged and tables published of the ideal teams and best players of the week. (I've never been able to find out if the top mark is 9 or 10. I suspect it's 9 as the highest average mark I've ever seen was about ten years ago, an 8.75 for Roberto Baggio (who else?).
For the benefit of those without access to RAI teletext I thought it might be a good idea to post the top three players every week so here goes.
Week 1 the top two were Miccoli and Pirlo. (Apologies - I've forgotten the marks and who came third.) Week 2 top three were:
1. Cavani 8.29
2. Palacio 7.29
3. Quadrado 7.21.
