Roma have made some very good signings. A top goalkeeper in Stekelenburg. Heinze will add experience to the back line. Jose Angel and Simon Kjaer are top players and will keep on improving. Erik Lamela is a big coup, Osvaldo i am not too sure about. He didnt really fare well before in Serie A before with Fiorentina and Bologna but if he can repeat his goalscoring exploits at Espanyol, then it will be a great acquisition. Bojan is there and i am sure he will perform and Miralem Pjanic is a great buy. I have always rated Pjanic from when i saw him play with Metz 4 years ago. Didnt get much of a lookin last season due to the signing of Yoann Gourcuff but he started a couple of games this season and impressed. Good signing for Roma.

Roma have completed the transfer of Argentina international Fernando Gago from Real Madrid on a one-year loan deal. The move has been confirmed on the official website of Lega Serie A.

The Stadio Olimpico side were keen to add some more depth to their midfield and head coach Luis Enrique has now found his man in Gago.

The 25-year-old midfielder joined Madrid from Boca Juniors in January 2007 and has since made close to 100 official appearances for the Santiago Bernabeu side.

However, Gago was surplus to requirements at Real Madrid under head coach Jose Mourinho and therefore wanted to leave the club.

Gago is Roma's third signing on the final day of the summer transfer window after the previous capture of Simon Kjaer from Wolfsburg and Miralem Pjanic from Olympique Lyonnais.

Ah, so Gago has joined. Well, another decent signing on paper. Let's just hope they can all hit the ground running.

Busy today, missed all the mercato madness. Thank fook. Its all over now, right? Good to see Kjaer and Pranjic deals completed, I suppose. Not so sure about Lady Gago – why sign him and let Brighi go? To me they pretty similar players, yet Brighi is an established squad and proven Serie A player, and I can't see Lady Gago starting. And why did we sign Fabio Borini? Thats a but mystifying, unless we see him as a prospect for the future. Last season he was banging them in at... Swansea, which says it all really, and then he only joined Parma like a month ago? Odd.

pizarro outright declined a move to palermo yesterday. brighi is gone to atalanta. I don't think anyone else is gone so we still have a massive squad (30 or so?).

Especially not since Parma just signed him for free as well just a month ago. Now we're to pay €6m to keep him? Er, nice work there. By Parma.

My God, I've just visited RA from some reason, and the praise for Sabatini and our mercato dealings is sickening.

I honestly don't know what to make of it all. It hasn't digested yet. On the one hand, we've made some excellent purchases and signed quality young players like Lamela, Pjanic and Bojan (loan), and lowered the average age of our squad, yet on the other there seems to be little structure or organisation to it all. Everything has been left to last minute, we've treated some existing players very badly (I didn't know we tried to ship Pizza to Palermo, what the fuck is that?), some players not at pre-season and then are involved, and now they're just seems to be a clusterfuck of players who are going to have to perform Royal Rumbles in training just to get noticed. Like Marco said, we've a ridiculously bloated squad (I can count 33). What of youngsters like Okaka, Caprari, Antei, Viviani, Verre? Did we loan any of them out in the last minute madness? What of Borriello, Simplicio, Curci, Rosi, Greco? Where will they fit? Has LE spoken to any of them? Is there anyone in control here?

I'm sure more financial details will become clearer in the future, but says our mercato madness final 'balance' is -€40m.

Some of these deals seem like last-minute Pjanic on the part of the club.

Did Borriello just refuse to go elsewhere? Is he going to sit on the bench collecting a nice fat paycheck? I want his job. Are all those young guys going to play on Primavera, but just train with us? Is Pizarro officially gone? So many questions.
