The problem, as I see it, Goffredo, is that all that is essentially irrelevant to my complaint at this juncture. Quite literally irrelevant, I mean. I don't see how signing Osvaldo or Pjanic (or whomever) has any bearing on the principle of developing the youth. If the club were to have come out and said we're going to concentrate on the youth, we think Caprari and Viviano and Verre are going to be special and so we're going to play them, even if they're not quite ready yet, then I should have understood and not been unhappy - especially had that been accompanied with splashing the cash on one or two really outstanding players to keep those youngsters company. This, for me, would have been a perfectly understandable and defensible model. Equally, had the club said we're going to work on their future while treading water with Brighi and Taddei and Perrotta, I should have understood and accepted - these guys are solid professionals who have given an awful lot to the club over the years. And, again, if the focus had been solely on bringing in really exciting youngsters to accompany the Roman kids, I could have understood this - Lamela and Angel, say, with the express admission that it might take a year or two for there to be really positive results. None of those scenarios, though, has ANY bearing on the club's current treatment of Brighi, Simplicio, Pizarro, Borriello. Perhaps Pjanic is a wunderkid - I've no memory of ever having watched him play. And no doubt Gago is a very gifted player, for all that he has a please-punch-me-in-the-mouth face and hair to make a thespian cringe. If these were the club's first choices, their real priorities from the first, I could accept this. I simply don't get that sense, though - rather, Brighi has never been given any chance; Simplicio wasn't even at the ritiro; Taddei's played as a left-back whenever he's played. And then one adds to this the absolute lack of clarity in the vision of the management - I can accept Sabatini's apology that he fucked up with Okaka, but what of the treatment of Borriello? What of the complete inconsistency in the use of Simplicio and Brighi in that first leg? What of the handling of Totti? The thing I always come back to when assessing a coach - since it seems to me, in the end, the only thing one can come back to when one is so far from the real dealings and details - is what I would call 'clarity of conception' and it's the thing that is so stunningly lacking at the moment. Where is Lamela going to play? If wide-left or wide-right, why Osvaldo? If in the midfield, why the desperate push for midfielders? If Cassetti's ahead of Heinze in the pecking order as CB options, why Kjaer? And why Heinze?

I mean Gago and Pjanic, no doubt, are good players, but are they so clearly better players than Brighi and Pizarro? Particularly when one takes into account questions of assimilation, of knowing the club and other players, of knowing the league etc. etc. I have a sneaking suspicion that Kjaer will prove a very good signing - I may be wrong, and evidently he's not set the world alight in Deutschland and it says something that ManUre never delivered on their evident interest in the kid 12 months ago. Still, I think he may just have it - the mix of physical and mental qualities to become a better defender than the blond lad he's replacing. And I find it very easy to believe that both Lamela and Angel will be special players - I have a feeling they've both been bought on the basis of pace, technique, and age, and those are solid bases. I also think Bojan will be a special player and I can accept that Osvaldo might be, though I'm less convinced and I can't see how Lamela, Bojan, Totti, and Osvaldo go into a front three, which comes back to my lack of clarity of conception idea. On the other hand, the treatment of the midfielders seems to me nothing less than disgracefully disrespectful. Gesu' Christos, these are the guys who led the club to two by-a-whisker second-in-the-leagues. Sure second is nowhere and they're getting older, but have a little fucking humility, please. And have a little fucking respect for guys who've given a fuck of a lot more to the club than Luis Enrique and Sabatini and Uncle fucking Tom have to this point. Enrique and Sabatini should be showing fucking Pit a little respect at this stage, let alone Pizarro. I mean, for the sake of the Lord?

OK. I don't like how the current players are being treated. They do deserve more respect than they have been given. I don't know what to make of anything any more. I hope for the best but fuck me if it isn't bad.

Great posts Maro, though thankfully this is nothing compared to what is happening with new owners at my other club!

I can't say I was impressed by the form of Taddei and Perrotta last season, but when they're obviously staying then, as you say, treat them with more respect for their efforts over the years. And they will have some sort of role to play again this time around, I'm sure.

I really hope Borriello isn't sold. Seen him linked with PSG, but we need to keep him IMO. If any of Bojan, Osvaldo, Lamela (although I think Lamela will be used in the midfield? Not totally sure yet) don't work out upfront then he's a tried and trusted player to fall back on. Had a very good first half of the season last year when we weren't in great form ourselves.

Durante la trasmissione di questa mattina su RadioRadio, l'ex attaccante della Roma oggi opinionista Roberto Pruzzo, ha avanzato una idea curiosa per il modulo che la Roma di Luis Enrique potrebbe attuare.

"Io dico che con gli uomini presi ora la Roma potrebbe fare un 3-3-1-3 offensivo come il Barcellona. Stekelenbung, Kjaer,Juan,Burdisso, De Rossi centrale a centrocampo con Pjanic a destra e Gago a sinistra,poi Lamela dietro ai tre attaccanti Totti centrale con Osvaldo e Bojan ai lati". Chissà che...

LA ROMA E' ORMAI VICINA A GAGO: "Gago è un giocatore importante. Sono convinto che in Europa sia arrivato troppo giovane e sopravvalutato per cifra spesa. Il Real di Capello none ra la squadra giusta per lui. Si è intritstito, ha perso continuità, ma è un grande giocatore".

ASSOMIGLIA A REDONDO? "E' sempre stato il nuovo Redondo. Un organizzatore di gioco, vertice basso di centrocampo. Può fare anche la mezzala, ma lui nasce da classico numero cinque. E' un giocatore elegantissimo ma anche di sostanza. Spero che arrivi in Italia col giusto mordente, con la voglia di ripartire. Se è cosi, la Roma ha preso uno dei migliori centrocampisti in circolazione".

COME VEDI IL CENTROCAMPO DELLA ROMA CON GAGO, DE ROSSI E PJANIC? "Centrocampo molto interessante. Gago volante basso permetterebbe a De Rossi di fsare il centrocampista ad elastico. Pjanic mi piace molto, sarebbe un trio molto interessante e di prospettiva".

PJANIC CHE GIOCATORE E'? "E' ancora giovane, può non avere qualche malizia fondamentale per quel ruolo. Pregi tanti, sa trattare il pallone. Ha proiezione offensiva, non è scontato. E' un giocatore completo, con margini di miglioramento. Di contro ribadisco, può peccare in esperienza. La Roma ha preso giovani di profilo mondiale, la piazza però ha delle urgenze. L'allenatore ha esigenze rigide. Sul talento dei giocatori presi da Sabatini, dubbi non ce ne sono".

LA RIVOLUZIONE TATTICA DI LUIS ENRIQUE. GIUSTO FARLA ORA O MEGLIO PUNTARE SU UN ALLENATORE ESPERTO: "Non giudico un lavoro di un allenatore in un periodo a medio termine.

L'ERRORE CONTRO LO SLOVAN E' STATO GRAVISSIMO: "La seconda partita dell'anno non può portare dubbi su un allenatore. Lui non ha esperienza, è stato un giocatore straordinario ma problematico sul piano caratteriale. Viene da un sistema diverso dal nostro. Diamogli tempo, può dimostrare le sue qualità. Credo che ci fossero degli allenatori forse più indicati per questa prima fase, ma ancora non conosciamo il vero Luis Enrique.

NELL'IMMAGINARIO COLLETTIVO HA PESATO L'ELIMINAZIONE EUROPEA: "Le eliminazioni di Udinese, Palermo e Roma sono state gravi. Il quadro è drammatico, è normale provare delusione. Io forse avrei puntato su un allenatore come Delio Rossi. Aldilà dei gusti personali, per giudicare Lusi Enrique bisogna aspèettare almeno sei mesi. Sono contro gli esoneri, metterei la regola di tenere un tecnico almeno fino a gennaio. Altrimenti si rischia di leder la professionalità.

E' STATO GIA' PARAGONATO A CARLOS BIANCHI: "Carlos Bianchi è stato un grande conoscitore di calcio. Per i tecnici argentini l'Italia non è un buon posto. Hanno fatto fatica anche altri allenatori. E' un problema generale dei tecnici di scuola latina, quindi anche degli spagnoli".

BRONZETTI E' PERPLESSO SUI GIOCATORI SPAGNOLI IN ITALIA: "In Spagna si gioca a calcio, in Italia molto meno. E' un problema streutturale .Gli allenatori sono messi spalel al muro. Se fai tre pareggi sei tranquillo, se fai una vittoria e due sconfitte sei un pericolo anche se fai gli stessi punti. I risultati sono drammatici, il contesto mette in difficoltà. Conta solo correre e metterci il fisico. L'Atalanta ha preso Maxi Moralez, alto un metro e sessanta, grande scommessa. Qui si cerca prima il fisico, meno la tecnica. Se non si fa questa rivoluzione, il calcio italiano andrà sempre peggio.

HA PARLATO CON BIANCHI DI TOTTI? "No, non direttamente.Abbiamo parlato di calcio argentino. Per come ha conservato l'italiano, abbia mantenuto un buon ricordo dell'Italia"

C'E' ASPETTATIVA SU OSVALDO: "E' l'operazione che mi dà più perplessità, per un discorso soprattutto economico. La Roma che cede Vucinic e prende Osvaldo perdendoci qualcosa, mi perplime. La Roma ha troppe prime punte, ha bisogno di attaccanti laterali. Il giocatore che serviva era Palacio, è un grande calciatore. Osvaldo è diverso dai tempi di Firenze e Bologna, è più maturo. Io mi sarei tenuto Vucinic, ma ci sono anche dinamiche che non possiamo conoscere. Da oggi avremo un quadro completo del campionato italiano. Abbiamo visto già abbastanza calcio estivo per farci unì'idea, da domani faremo girglie e previsioni. Finché non arriva il campionato possiamo solo esprimere delle sensazioni.

PRIME TRE E RIVELAZIONE DEL CAMPIONATO: "Il Milan vincerà ancora il campionato. Il Napoli è cresciuto e può entrare in lotta, Lazio e Roma possono essere le variabili. Non credo nella Juve".

GASPERINI NON VEDE ALVAREZ: "E' una voce che ho sentito, non ho conferme. Non so se Gasperini sia il tecnico più adatto per questo momento dell'Inter, perché ha caratteristiche ben precise. Vuole totale abnegazione per il suo modulo, e nell'Inter ci sono giocatori ai quali insegnare cose nuove è complicato perché sono già affermati. Se Alvarez si brucia è un peccato perché è un grande giocatore. Considerarlo già inadatto è incomprensibile".

MENEZ E PASTORE A PARIGI STANNO INCANTANDO: "Nell'ultima partita il Psg ha vinto nel finale, quando ha tolto Nené lasciando pieno estro a Menez e Pastore. E' bello vederli giocare insieme. Pastore è favoloso, esteticamente meraviglioso. Menez ha grande potenziale, deve capirlo. Per diventare un campione bisogna fare sacrifici. Questo Paris Saint German cresce bene, quando hai un grande budget è un buon punto di partenza. Certo, non basta, gli esempi sono tanti. Ma loro li hanno spesi bene, hanno preso anche Lugano. Possono arrivare ad alti livelli in tempi brevi".

I know this is, by now, an old story and that rumours still have us signing Gago, but I thought the "considerato lento" part was worth noting. Every signing that they've made has been predicated on pace and technique.

Roma, niente Gago: Luis Enrique lo ha bocciato

Gli obiettivi erano entrambi del Real. Sabatini aveva votato per Diarra, per il quale bisognava spendere almeno quanto Pjanic: la trattativa non è decollata per l'ingaggio elevato del francese, più di 4 milioni con l'aspirazione di arrivare a Trigoria a guadagnarne 5. Invece Baldini, dall'Inghilterra, si era personalmente mosso per Gago, regista argentino scaricato da Mourinho, e in questi giorni si era affidato a Bronzetti per convincere Florentino a cedere il giocatore in prestito oneroso. Affare fatto ieri mattina, un milione subito e 5 tra un anno con contratto da 2 milioni e mezzo al calciatore, e congelato poi nel pomeriggio dopo il sì di Bernard Lacombe, direttore generale del Lione.

Gago e il suo procuratore sono rimasti per gran parte della giornata ad aspettare la chiamata di Sabatini che ormai era concentrato su altre operazioni. A quanto pare l'argentino, considerato lento sia da Luis Enrique che dal ds giallorosso, potrebbe finire al Palermo, anche se la Roma controlla la situazione.

wow, pjanic was going to be a superstar in some of the previous football manager's, and they usually do a good job in that regard (if you rate them).

with all these young and inexperienced superstars on your team, you'll need some elderly statesmen to give them guidance. totti doesn't count.

Sky is saying Roma have signed Fabio Borini from Parma on loan for €1.7 million with the option to buy for €7 million and Borriello is going no where. At least for now.
