Funny, the Kjaer deal has been put on hold. Both teams had agreed for a loan with an option to buy, however the paperwork Wolfsburg sent indicates a loan with an obligation to buy.
Its never so easy is it, this crazy little thing called Roma.

Welcome to the forums, YSrour. How did you find us here? Feck me this latest bit of drama about the Kjaer deal is just ridiculous. Wolfsburg are insisting that the loan include a clause that we have to buy him outright at the end of the loan. How could the two clubs not have agreed this beforehand? The man is even in Rome and passed his medical yesterday morning. A notice was even posted on Wolfsburg's official website yesterday. I hope it can be sorted out between the two clubs, but if Wolfsburg are insisting on this clause (which I think they'd be perfectly entitled to do), and if the clubs start playing the blame game, then it could get messy. Where would be then? I don't even wanna think about it.

Shit so Borriello is really going? I honestly didn't think he would go. He's a good forward, perhaps not quite ideal starting material but a very useful player off the bench. And he's going for only €8m? Thats a €2m loss on him, which obviously ain't good, surely we could have said to mega-rich, foreign-owned PSG "here we're just spent €10m on him, please give us the same amount", like. I mean why the discount, €2m ain't that much for a club like them? Bah doesn't make sense.

Not a fan of Gago – thank feck those reports have stalled for now (at least I think they have) – or not a huge fan of Pjanic, either. EDIT: Whoaa, when I heard the name Pjanic I immediately thought of Danijel Pranjic of Bayern, not this other Pjanic of Lyon. I know off him too but not but not hugely, I have to admit. I didn't realise he's only 21 and so highly rated. Would be an interesting move. Like Davey boy said, Christian Eriksen is also a fantastic option, although i think he'd be quite expensive. Of all the midfield names I'd still be very happy with Montolivo. Latest is that Sabatini is going to offer Brighi as part of our offer. And yes, the fact that he is an Italian international has a lot to do with it.

The mercato madness is in full swing now. Don't stay tuned for one day and there a whole new set of rumours and mercato madness options happening. All I can say is that its a blessing that Serie A was postponed, I don't think anyone could possibly know what our strongest team will look like once the transfer window is shut, let alone have time for all the new arrivals and all our current players to settle into a new system and acclimatise to this new Roma.

Yeah, fair points, Romawi. The whole saga has been messy, though. First off, he's left on the bench in the first-leg of the EL play-off and comes on for 15 minutes at the end to run around. Then, suddenly, he's transfer listed, as LE makes it clear he's not part of our plans, even though he's played in Europe making him cup-tied should he leave. Then he's left out completely of our squad for the second-leg, a game in which we fielded an 18-year-old forward and had a 17-year-old come off the bench to replace him. Now, I'm all for giving youth a chance, certainly, but having Borriello sit in the stands for a game in which we needed goals and our forward department was young and inexperienced – plus not quite at match sharpness in Bojan and the controversy surrounding Totti – is all very questionable, and gives a slight impression that no one really knows what we're doing. Its just been a messy process, I think.

Latest reports indicate he's closer to a move to Milan rather that PSG.

Its been a pretty shitty day, nothing really constructive with these rumors but everything today revolved around Borriello, Kjaer, Montolivo, Gago and Pjanic. Nobody was either brought or sold and no official offers except for one slick contract from Wolfsburg. Kjaer has been told to return to Germany but i really really doubt he will, i mean seriously he does have a contract but he's no slave. And obviously this wasnt a mistake, this needs to be sorted but seeing as this took too long im guessing Wolfsburg are going to hold on to this 'obligation' clause.
Which is bad, because we might as well picture Sabatini giving them the middle finger.

Borriello went to an airport. Conclusion: he signs for PSG. His plane goes to Milan, Conclusion: Galliani wants him back. All i care is that he stays even if he'll be benched, we dont only want depth we need depth with quality. Plus the fact is that he is more or less our best finisher.

Montolivo is still possible, i read that an offer of 8m + a player - which most probably will be Brighi will be offered to Fiorentina. Considering he has a year left i think thats a pretty good deal for both Roma and Fiorentina. Come on, am i the only one drooling to see him in a Roma shirt? He can assist and dear lord we need someone who can assist (Other than Totti) and obviously we might not see Pizarro that much either.

Fernando was always a back up plan in the extremely unlikely scenario that DDR left, no? A midfield with himself and Fernando just wouldn't work. What LE wants is creative midfielders.

Anyway, midfield should not be the priority now. Centre-back is a disaster zone. This Kjaer mess is pathetic. Our defence is our weakest area, and after losing our best defender at the end of last season and having plenty of time to sort it out we sign no one and put all our eggs into a Danish basketcase and then we go and fuck up the deal. It is shambolic. Like a few people have been saying, why the feck would Wolfsburg let a player they spent around €12m on leave only on a loan with no obligation to buy? What is the point of such a deal for them, and why would they be so wasteful? He hasn't been setting the Bundesliga on fire, but he hasn't been a complete failure either, so it makes no sense. And now he's heading make to Germany, and where does that leave us? No defence, no team. It is completely unprofessional. And why we've been messing around with a stupid loan deal for the most vital requirement of this entire mercato is beyond me, this should have been sorted out a long time ago.

As rumours abound of Manchester City’s £25m bid for Daniele De Rossi, Roma patron Thomas Di Benedetto said “it’s his decision.”

The midfielder’s contract expires next summer and talks to work out an extension have still not been successful.

This week Roberto Mancini told the Italian media De Rossi would be “perfect” to complete his City squad, fuelling Sunday Express reports of a £25m offer.

“Daniele is a Roman and a Romanista 100 per cent, a great player, an international and a great figurehead for us,” Di Benedetto told Sky Sport Italia.

“Therefore we hope he can play for Roma to the end of his career, but ultimately it’s his decision.

“If he had different ambitions, then we’d have to take that into account.”

I think that's just reading too much into Di Benedetto's words. DDR is at the end of his contract, and the decision of whether he stays or not is in his hands. If he decides that he wants to leave then it's up to him and Roma would have no choice but sell. Also, weren't there reports earlier in the week saying that an extension was practically done? I would be absolutely shocked if does end up leaving.

Thankfully, I don't think City need him. They have De Jong, Toure, Barry, and Kompany for the sitting centre midfielders, of which Mancini only plays two now as opposed to three on occasion last season (I remember some games De Jong, Barry and Vieira were all playing).

says that Kjaer's agent is sure his client will play for Roma this season. He has confirmed they have agreed personal terms and passed a medical and is sure that the clubs will reach an agreement before the end of the mercato.

If that doesn't work out I'd be happy with Ogbonna. In fact I think I might prefer Ogbonna over Kjaer, come to think on it. The fact that Ogbonna is Italian is also a big factor. I agree with all that Red has been stressing about Kjaer thus far, and that he's not quite all that he's made out to be. He was a promising young defender when Palermo signed him and his stock grew and he look liked he could be a top-class centre-back, but thats not happened yet. He is still only 22, of course, but he is fairly experienced and a regular for Denmark, yet he is still prone to too many howlers which you'd expect from a defender, he's inconsistent, not as dominating in the back-line or doesn't have much presence about him. I'm not saying he wouldn't be a good signing, he is a good defender and I'd welcome him, but realistically he is in no way a ready-made replacement for Mexes.
