i'm not questioning his quality, i'm questioning his form and his ego. it's a damn shame that he thinks he deserves such a huge contract based on the simple fact that he is roman.

but i'll eat that humble pie with a smile on my face, because i know he's a damn good player on his day.

He doesn't think he deserves such a huge contract simply because he's Roman; he 'deserves' it because he knows that if he were to go to Madrid or Man Shitty or Manure (and they'd all be queuing up to have him), he'd be being offered considerably more. That he's Roman is what makes the club prepared to go further towards offering the sorts of wages other clubs would offer for him, that's all.

Interesting, Jeff. I also read (from AlCapone via twitter, always a good source, that fella) that his agent says a loan deal is not an option they'll consider, and also that another big team from another league are in the running for his client. Sounds far from advanced to me.

Wolfsburg defender Simon Kjaer has revealed that head coach Felix Magath has told him that he'll be allowed to leave this summer, with Roma keen to add the Denmark international to their squad.

Kjaer has long been linked with a return to Italy, but it was believed until now that Wolfsburg were keen to hold on to the centre-back.

"Felix Magath has told me that I will be allowed to leave and that I can enter negotiations with other clubs. It was my personal wish to stay at VfL, but I'm also pleased with this outcome," Kjaer said to WAZ.

"A return to Italy can be a done deal any hour now. Roma are a great club. Joining them is a big opportunity for me. I don't have to adapt to new surroundings as I'm already familiar with Italy and Serie A."

Roma see the 22-year-old Kjaer as the perfect replacement for Philippe Mexes, who left the club for AC Milan this summer, and they're willing to pay up to €10 million for the centre-back.

I'm sure Kjaer will end up here eventually. I haven't seen anything of Osvaldo since he left Italy, but looking at Wiki his scoring rate has improved at Espanyol so let's hope he can carry that on.

Found that article on him, which basically says that he'd be better moving to Atletico Madrid because he's 'failed' in Serie A before. Not a clue why it mentions his lack of goals at Atalanta and Lecce - he was only 20 then.
