Once again we find ourselves looking at the back end of a transfer window where we have signed way too many 3rd, 4th and 5th choices. The 4-4-2 is no longer a reasonable formation for the new era of soccer. Unless you run a 4-2-4 with solid DMs.

Where does Marchisio play in a 4-4-2? Where does Pirlo play in a 4-4-2? Is Vidal really going to be a solo anchorman?

After watching Prandelli's Italia defeat Spain in the friendly last week, I am really sick to my stomach that we can't sign players like Cassano, Balotelli, Montolivo, Maggio, Criscito, Cassani, Balzaretti, Gastaldello, Palombo, Pazzini...

Why do we always fuck up in the market? There is good Italian talent. Can we stop taking players like Bonucci over Ranocchia? please?!

How bad has Chiellini gotten btw? That guy is borderline suckass right now. He needs a cool next to him quickly and a major shot of reality.

Quanti credono che «il modulo ormai non conta» sono serviti. Ultimamente, a dire la verità, perfino i tecnici che hanno fatto fortuna con un proprio marchio di fabbrica vanno ripetendo che l'assetto lascia il tempo che trova. A sposare la tesi, però, si rischia di perdere di vista le manovre bianconere. Il punto, dopo un mese e mezzo di 4-4-2 (o 4-2-4), è proprio questo: quanto sono inflessibili i progetti tattici di Antonio Conte? Non è solo una questione di propositi sul rettangolo di gioco, ma di orizzonti di mercato. Il quesito ora si fa più interessante: se a offrirsi è un giocatore del calibro di Javier Mascherano, sarà il caso di svincolarsi dall'affannosa ricerca di un esterno sinistro?

Tutto dipenderà da un paio di passi indietro. Detto di quello che dovrebbe fare il tecnico, varando magari un «piano B» (il rombo), anche il Barça dovrà fare la sua parte, riducendo le richieste che allo stato attuale ammontano a 20 milioni di euro. La Juve, dopo aver investito gran parte del tesoretto a disposizione su Vucinic, Lichtesteiner e Vidal, sarebbe disposta a compiere uno sforzo. Il piatto è davvero ghiotto. Soprattutto se si considera che con l'argentino è come se di colpi se ne assestassero due: quello per un centrocampista di indiscusso valore e quello per un centrale difensivo, la cui duttilità ha spinto Guardiola a dirottare Puyol sulla fascia o a lasciarlo direttamente in panchina, come nella finale di Champions vinta con il Manchester United.

L'arrivo di Fabregas in blaugrana, tuttavia, ha limitato non poco il raggio e le possibilità d'azione di Mascherano. Tanto che il giocatore ha convinto i catalani a metterlo sul mercato. Un contatto con i dirigenti bianconeri già c'è stato, l'ingaggio dell'ex del Liverfekkin'wankscum - 4 milioni di euro netti a stagione - contribuisce a rendere l'affare parecchio oneroso, ma anche su una leggera rivisitazione del contratto dovrebbe esserci margine di trattativa.

In realtà, Mascherano-Juve sarebbe un atto secondo. Il giocatore già in passato fu vicino a vestire la maglia bianconera: l'accordo, quando il suo cartellino era ancora di proprietà della società MSI Group, risultò difficoltoso.

Il fascino dell'operazione ora fa di nuovo presa in corso Galileo Ferraris. Ma la notizia che il nazionale argentino stesse sul mercato ha prodotto il medesimo effetto sull'Inter, con la quale potrebbe presto montare il duello di mercato.

Per questo, la Juve e Conte dovrannoschiarirsi al più presto le idee. I segnali che il 4-4-2 non sia irrinunciabile ci sono. L'interesse per l'uruguaiano Ramirez, in fin dei conti, racconta qualcosa di simile: al giocatore del Bologna tanti compiti si possono affidare, tranne quelli da esterno sinistro puro. Viceversa, il filo diretto con la Fiorentina per il cileno Vargas dimostra che le vie delle fasce continuano a essere quelle predilette. In Brasile, a proposito, sono convinti che il vero obiettivo bianconero sia Carlos Eduardo del Rubin Kazan. Lo strano ruolo di ago della bilancia potrebbe giocarlo Vidal: a Vinovo si sono resi conto tutti delle sue capacità di adattamento a centrocampo. Scritturarlo ala sarebbe un po' forzato. Ma da interno, potrebbe funzionare. Ora, di rombo si parla.

Marotta promises more signings
August 19, 2011 –

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta says the club will sign "at least two new players" before the close of the transfer window. After finishing seventh in Serie A last season, Juventus have had a busy summer in the transfer market, bringing in the likes of Mirko Vucinic, Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal, but Marotta has revealed their business is far from finished.

"At least two new players will arrive before the transfer window closes, but we could even sign a third," he said.

Cesena forward Emanuele Giaccherini is said to be a target and Marotta, speaking at a Lega Calcio meeting, said: "I'm not here today to specifically talk to Cesena, but there is always an opportunity to discuss things with colleagues."

On Sevilla winger Diego Perotti, he said: "He is not the only opportunity that we are evaluating. We know that we have a few holes to plug."

tender Alex from Chelsea seems a stronger rumour than Lugano just now.

Conte seems to want an inward looking player for the left, rather than having two wingers who just want to attack the outside and put crosses in.

Vargas is good, but there's nothing about him that just doesnt full convince me

Mascherano would be a good pick up....but there's an outside chance at best of that happening now.

I'm thinking a CB, LW, and possibly Macherano (or some other CM/Giaccherini) is what he has in mind. I prefer Lugano and Coates over tender Alex. I would probably take Bocchetti over tender Alex, just because he's younger, Italian, and he can cover LB as well. Vargas would be a solid LM pick up, but I don't think he's as offensive as Conte would like his LM to be. ATM it looks like a toss up between Perotti, Elia, and a couple random guys.
