A stupid question, Davit. I have a lot of respect for Loria - he's clearly an exemplary professional who - all reports said - trained his heart out even when he couldn't get a game. Was he a defensive liability - yes. For the one simple reason that he was too slow and so couldn't make the step up to a bigger team which looked to play with a higher defensive line. That he was found out and not quite good enough is no threat to my soul.

Senderos is just as good now as he was when he was at Arsenal - it's just that he was utterly appalling back then too.

Loria is 34 now and a free-agent so you obviously wouldn't take him now, but I can honestly say I think I'd prefer Loria as a fourth centre-back option when we signed him from Siena then signing Senderos now. Senderos was injured for eight months last season and played three games. Loria may make a massive blunder and make a fool of himself, but he'd play his heart out as opposed to that Swiss shitbag who kacks himself and then falls over clutching his knee.

You know what gio says, right, Goffredo - that I like to sit on the fence as much as possible. Mexes certainly played some fine games for us, but I tend to love him rather more for his passion and personal qualities than for his absolute quality. The disappointing part is that he looked as though he might finally have been delivering on his promise - becoming at very long last a leader for the national team, for instance - and so even better may be ahead for him. I accept those sorts of arguments for sure. I suspect, though, that for every clusterfuck from Juan or Chivu or Ferrari or Loria in giallorosso you could find two or three for Philippe.
