They could also get rid of Amauri, if they weren't holding out for about 8m for him.

But I'm with you on the point that wages are at least as important as the fee in any deal.

Of course Nasri and Fabregas are moving clubs because, now they're a bit older, they're fed up playing for a club which concentrates on developing youngsters and values courage, foresight, patience, and an eye for talent. The Arsenal model might suggest just how hard it is to tend to the needs of present and future at the same time - and today's future is only tomorrow's today, after all.

Eto'o out, Tevez and Forlan in?

With Samuel Eto’o set to join Anzhi for €40m, Inter plan to reinvest in both Carlos Tevez and Diego Forlan.

Eto’o is expected to hold a Press conference today from his home in Cameroon to confirm his transfer to Russia, including €15m per season wages.

The Nerazzurri have been linked to both Manchester City want-away striker Tevez and Atletico Madrid’s Uruguayan international Forlan as possible replacements.

However, according to the Corriere dello Sport this morning, the plan is to bring in both players.

Inter hope to convince Manchester City that releasing Tevez on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season will be acceptable.

Forlan is on the market following a disagreement with Coach Quique Sanchez Flores and available for €10m.

In recent weeks he has reportedly turned down offers from Al Wasl, Sao Paolo, Galatasaray, Besiktas and Spartak Moscow, but Inter would be a different proposition.

Other options for the Nerazzurri include Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi and Bologna outcast Gaston Ramirez.

B. Dortmund play in the Bundesliga, kros; isn't that enough to show why that analogy breaks down? If Arsewipe were competing against one of ManUre, ManShitty, Liverpuke, Chelski, then they would have won a title or two over the past six years.

Barca have spent big, but they also pay big wages to keep their own. They've not been a 'selling club', really, if you see what I mean - and Arsenal actually have been for the past 10 years or so. This is the problem a club will always face when it sets itself a rigid salary structure - I have a feeling it's what's going to happen at Roma too under the new owners, and it's certainly what happened under the old.

I'm not sure too many of the Interisti are all that interested in that question, Davit, though I should say that Chivu and Mancini most certainly fit the bill, as does Mexes, I believe, however much other stuff there also was surrounding that deal.

Another 48 hours for Eto’o

Samuel Eto’o will now undergo his medical on Thursday ahead of his move from Inter to Anzhi Makhachkala.

The Cameroon international was expected to be at Rome’s Villa Stuart centre at midday on Tuesday for the tests, but they have been postponed for 48 hours.

Despite the delay, the transfer is still expected to be completed with the final details set to be wrapped up over the next day or so.

Russian officials will be in Italy again today where they will hold further discussions with the Nerazzurri.

It’s understood that Eto’o will be sold for close to €30m, with the player signing a three-year contract worth over €15m a campaign.

Eto’o is 30 and has been a massive success at Inter since he arrived from Barcelona in 2009, as part of the deal that saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic go in the other direction.

He won the treble in his first season with the Nerazzurri and has scored 53 goals in 101 games for the Beneamata.

Inter look to Forlan

Inter will make a move for Diego Forlan of Atletico Madrid to replace Samuel Eto’o, reports are insisting.

The Cameroon striker is set to leave the Italian club for Anzhi this week and the Uruguayan could take his place at San Siro.

Although also linked with Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez and Ezeqiuel Lavezzi of Napoli, netting Forlan is seen as the simpler option.

Atletico Madrid are apparently ready to sacrifice the South American given that they are on the verge of signing Porto’s Falcao.

“At the moment we are not interested in selling Forlan, especially after we sold Sergio Aguero,” Atletico director Miguel Angel Gil Marin stated.

“However, we are tracking another attacker as we are interested in and very close to getting Falcao.

“If we manage to complete that deal then we are ready to listen to offers for Forlan.”

Forlan, 32, has been with his present Spanish club since his 2007 switch from La Liga rivals Villarreal.

In 134 League games for the capital outfit, he’s netted 74 goals.

Great to see that with Eto'o leaving that we are looking towards the future with a possible purchase of Forlan.

This Eto'o business has happened very quickly. Will be sad to see him leave for such an average league also. Really hope we can get in a suitable replacement (perhaps Forlan). Also, happy to see Kharja is on his way, was not impressed with his time at Inter.

Forlan is flexible tactically. Even in the world cup and the recent Copa America he played as a withdrawn striker and not as the center forward. Suarez was the central striker and Forlan was free to roam and create. Even though he might not be a perfect fit for the position I think he can sort of take the mantle from Eto'o. More of a stop gap replacement as he will cost us just around 6m if reports are to be believed. I think the idea would be to get Forlan and play him on the right so that he can cut in and also create space for Maicon to bomb forward.

WE still need to get Lavezzi though. He will be a really good addition to Gasperini's system.
