Sure, flagg - all of this I would agree with. In the 4-2-3-1 he actually played in pretty much exactly Mancini's role down the left. Taddei played almost always down the right and Perrotta through the middle. When Aquilani played it was either instead of Pizarro in the midfield 2 or instead of Perrotta, behind Totti, as the trequartista. I should think you'd get the most out of him playing him through the middle alongside Matri. Ranieri - inevitably - tried all sorts of formations and only under Ranieri did we see Vucinic playing a more orthodox striker's role, on occasion; under Spalletti he only played up top when Totti was out, and even then not always as the first-choice second-choice, as it were.

Whoever wrote this sees football pretty much as I do, I suspect - except that s/he seems to give a shite about Rube which is, of course, a signal difference. This is certainly how I see the current Rube squad making sense, as it were:

Oltre al difensore centrale (Vidic? tender Alex? Lugano? Rolando?) manca ancora un esterno di centrocampo importante per completare la rosa della Juventus e per permettere ad Antonio Conte di attuare il suo 4-4-2 pronto a trasformarsi, in fase di possesso palla, in un 4-2-4 dalle spiccate caratteristiche offensive. I nomi si conoscono, con Vargas ed Elia su tutti (da oggi è definitivamente tramontata la pista Bastos).

Al momento, però, in attesa che questo esterno arrivi, gli uomini a disposizione del tecnico bianconero sembrano ideali più per un 4-3-3 che per il modulo di cui sopra. Un 4-3-3 che prevederebbe, a centrocampo, il terzetto Marchisio-Pirlo-Vidal e in avanti Krasic-Matri-Vucinic, con il primo finalmente libero di attaccare e svincolato da troppi obblighi di copertura e con Quagliarella prima riserva dei due esterni.

Se arrivasse un esterno importante, invece, la coppia d'attacco sarebbe formata da Vucinic e Matri, con un centrocampo a quattro composto da Krasic, Pirlo, Vidal e il nuovo acquisto sulla sinistra. In questo caso, il sacrificato (in panchina) sarebbe Marchisio.

In ogni caso, a prescindere da quale delle due soluzioni si preferisca, l'arrivo di un Vargas o di un Elia darebbe a Conte una soluzione in più, permettendogli, davvero, di scegliere fra vari moduli di gioco.

Al momento, infatti, il suo 4-4-2 (o 4-2-4) si può attuare solo sacrificando sulla fascia sinistra uno fra Marchisio (poco adatto al gioco sugli esterni) o come Vucinic (disposto a ricoprire quel ruolo, ma, in questo modo, destinato a giocare troppo lontano dalla porta).

I still can't quite imagine a 4-4-2 being really effective with Pirlo in it.

Juve should ditch the idea of getting a left winger and go all out to get Lassana Diarra and play 4-3-3.

We don't really need Lass. We should get Vargas, and have the option of switching back and forth between the 4-4-2 and the 4-3-3, depending on who we're playing. Plus it gives Conte the opportunity to rotate the squad and get players some more playing time, not to mention that Vargas can also play LB.

Juve have apparently made a bid of 8m for Elia. Hamburg want 15m.

He's not a player that I like. Fancy dribbler without a brain or much end product.

Juve should go for Vargas.

is it just me or have Juve got enough players in their squad to field about 4 teams?!? We have 7 strikers now, and apparently juve are gonna sign tender Alex from Chelsea. At least if we have another injury crisis like last season we are well covered!

Seems to have just been a very odd rumour.

No suggestion in the last few days that he's actually been training with Juve or anything.
