Gabriel Heinze and French full-back Loic Nego have officially signed for Roma.

The Giallorossi have been in advanced negotiations with both players and the Lega Calcio has already received the contracts.

A statement on the Roma website this evening confirmed Heinze has signed a one-year contract with an option for a second term.

Former Manchester United defender Heinze is a free agent after terminating his contract with Olympique Marseille.

The 33-year-old landed in Italy and already underwent a medical, while he has already joined his new teammates at their training camp in Riscone di Brunico.

20-year-old Nantes right-back Nego has also completed his transfer to Roma.

fuck no. we need a solid 3rd cb like kjaer or silvestre. an rb wouldnt hurt, i think, and neither would a midfielder like poli (whom we have been linked with just yesterday, i think).

I was thinking a right back too, but we signed one today (albeit an unproven one) in Nego, who they must think has potential. So now we have Cicinho, Cassetti and Nego for right back - I'd assume LE is happy with that.

Could Heinze be the solid third centre back? With Valdes and Crescenzi for LB?

Wouldn't mind Poli though yeah, good player.

I see Julio Sergio could well be on his way to Lecce - good signing for them, best of luck to him. Will always remember his superb reflex save in the December 09 derby, plus his penalty save from Floccari a few months later

nego will be loaned out, the word has it. cassetti and cicinho at rb? thats really meh. a lot depends on how cicinho will do in training to impress LE, but i hope we get someone like zabaleta for 1st choice rb.

Heinze will be a fourth CB + 3rd LB + mentor for youngsters with his experience + generally good locker room guy. or so I hope.

I have just been reading that Stekelnburg's agent has been quoted saying that the Ajax keeper is keen on a move to Roma. He would be a fantastic signing for youse. With a year left to run on his contract, I think Ajax will try and ensure they get a fee for him now than risk losing him on a free.

I just posted it for the headline, really - "It's better that Menez doesn't play today." And then the details run, "WS, according to what's being reported by Sky, arriving at Riscone spke with LE to let him know that the negotiations with PSG are well advanced and so Menez shouldn't be risked in the friendly today." Borriello's off the market; Vooch isn't, though no offer's come through to match what we're demanding. 3 mil from the Menez transfer would be used to seal the Skeletoncity deal.

Neither JS nor Curci is much good, really, and the midfield three is going to be DDR + Pizza or Pastore + one of the runners we already have or a new addition. And then for the front three Menez will be behind Lamela and Bojan, Vooch and, probably, Taddei and Borriello.
