Gokhan Inler has spoken as a Napoli player for the first time after his transfer from Udinese was confirmed.

Inler was unveiled by the club on Monday in curious circumstances when he appeared at the side’s presentation of their new jersey wearing a lion mask.

“Napoli are a great club and I want to fly high with this outfit,” said the Switzerland international.

“The important thing is that everybody gives their best on the pitch and that we all stay united.”

The Azzurri had agreed a deal with Udinese at the start of the summer, but reaching a compromise over personal terms has taken some weeks.

“Now all that matters is Napoli,” the man who had also attracted the interest of Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen continued.

“Every objective is important and it will be nice to play for all the major honours that are available on a weekly basis.

“I decided to come here some time ago. This is a new chapter for me so I want to give my best for the fans. I want to win something for them.

“Napoli, like Udinese, have some young champions. I’m very happy that I can now play alongside them.”

The Azzurri hope to challenge for the Scudetto and in the Champions League in the new season.

It has not been confirmed how much Inler has cost the Stadio San Paolo outfit, but it is understood to be around €15m.

Miguel Angel Britos has thanked Napoli for giving him the chance to play at the highest levels of the Italian game.

Britos has now completed his expected transfer from Bologna and he can’t wait to get started at the Stadio San Paolo.

“I’m very happy to be here,” he stated. “I was at Bologna for three years and it was a beautiful experience, but I needed to take a step up in quality.

“Napoli have given me that opportunity.”

The Uruguayan was targeted by the Stadio San Paolo outfit at the specific request of boss Walter Mazzarri.

“I still haven’t spoken to the Coach,” the stopper continued. “Things will change tactically for me, but not that much.

“I’m a central defender and, while I was in Uruguay, I played in a three-man defence for six months.

“I think it is important for me that I was wanted by the Coach for my characteristics. I’ll aim to repay him for that faith with my performances on the pitch.”

Napoli have officially signed former Fiorentina midfielder Mario Alberto Santana and goalkeeper Roberto Colombo.

Santana was a free agent after his contract with the Viola expired over the summer and had a deal with Napoli some time ago, but it was only made official this evening.

The Argentine is 29 years old and has been in Italy since January 2002, playing for Venezia, Palermo, Chievo and Fiorentina.

Santana joins another former Fiorentina player who was a free agent, Marco Donadel, at the Stadio San Paolo.

Napoli also confirmed the arrival of goalkeeper Roberto Colombo from Triestina.

New Napoli signing Federico Fernandez has described the transfer as a 'dream move' and stated his admiration for fellow new colleague Paolo Cannavaro. The Naples outfit signed the 22-year-old from Estudiantes for a fee of €3 million, and the Tres Algarrobos-born man can't wait to get started in Italy.

“Napoli is a dream come true. I am taking my first steps at the top level and it is an honour to be here. I hope to repay all the faith the club put in me,” the former Argentina under-20s player said as he was unveiled to the press.

“Naples is like Argentina, as the fans are so very passionate. It feels like I’m home. The standard is so much higher in Serie A and the Champions League, so you need the utmost concentration."

The South American was full of praise for his new captain also, and revealed that he received a warm welcome to the team.

"Cannavaro is my inspiration, as he is a great professional. He took me to his house and his family were so welcoming to me, my father and my agent,” the new man stated.

The defender also clarified his preferred position and looked ahead to potentially facing world class opponents.

“I [have] already played in a three-man defence and also on the right side, but I certainly feel better in the centre and like to push forward. I’m very strong in the air and can score goals.

“Considering Edinson Cavani plays in my team, I’d say the toughest opposition strikers are Alexandre Pato and Samuel Eto’o. However, that doesn’t mean I’m afraid to face them," he concluded.

Fernandez becomes the second Argentine to join Napoli this summer, as Mario Santana has also moved from Fiorentina.

After selling Victor Ruiz, Napoli could now swoop for two new defenders before the transfer window closes.

Ruiz, signed from Espanyol in January, has joined Valencia for €8m on a five-year deal after just six appearances for the Azzurri.

With Ruiz gone and Miguel Britos injured for two months, the Stadio San Paolo outfit are expected to bring in at least one new stopper.

Ignacio Fideleff, 22, of Newell’s Old Boys has been associated with the Italian outfit this morning. However, Salvatore Bocchetti of Rubin Kazan is also an option.

“I can confirm that we are talking with Napoli,” Bocchetti’s agent, Andrea D’Amico, told Radio CRC.

“It’s not an easy operation to complete and a lot will depend on Napoli’s desire to do it. I’m waiting for developments.”

Napoli have confirmed a deal for Argentine defender Ignacio David Fideleff from Newell's Old Boys.

The 22-year-old has moved to San Paolo for a fee of €2.8m and has agreed a long-term five-year contract with the Italian side.

Napoli will be competing in the UEFA Champions League this season and have moved to bolster their ranks ahead of the new Serie A campaign.

Fideleff arrived at Napoli on Tueday night and the transfer was confirmed by the league on Wednesday.
