Pepe is okay for depth, but Juve have paid too much for him.

Motta is pretty much useless.

Wouldn't surprise me if these negotiations were linked to talks about Juve getting Inler, and Juve felt they had to take up their option on Motta and Pepe to chum up to Udinese.

All it means is that those players are now owned by Juve. There's no confirmation of Juve's plans for them.

It is now official that Parma have bought out 50 per cent of Sebastian Giovinco’s contract from Juventus.

The Ducali took the Italian international on loan last summer with an option to buy half the player after 12 months.

“Juventus Football Club confirm Parma FC exercised their option to buy 50 per cent of the sporting rights of Sebastian Giovinco for €3m to be paid over three years,” read a statement on the Bianconeri website.

“The operation, which takes effect from July 1 2011, will generate a profit of around €2.7m on the 2011-12 budget.”

Juve had hoped to bring ‘The Atomic Ant’ back to base under new Coach Antonio Conte, but Giovinco confirmed on several occasions he wanted to stay with regular first team football at Parma.

Thanks to his campaign at the Stadio Tardini, the 24-year-old has broken into the senior Italy squad this year.

40 mil on garbage players. The biggest waste of money since acquiring Martinez, Tiago and Amauri. Quaglia wont be the same player he was, we have seen this type injury happen to players. Matri isn't worth 15 mil and all of those players aren't starters. Spending millions on bench players isn't the way to build depth. High wages and reckless spending on bench players. Im starting to question the business model of this organization. They bleed money with no objective. What are they building? With that money you could've bought 2 superstars.

No idea what made Jube keep all the rest. Perhaps the constant need to sign every Italian on the planet.

Matri is not as bad as you say he is dino.
As for Quagliarella, they're just hoping he can get back to the way he was.
But then again, we've seen it all too many times before, especially with Andrade (yes dino you were right)
And quagliarella definitely isn't baggio who has pulled something like this off

Forget about Andrade, its a typical sports injury you just don't recover from. The ligaments are just too fragile, it takes about a year of rehab to regain some strength. Not a big gamble on their part but I guess they blew 40 mil on continuity. Honestly, I think that's all the money they have. They're building a 4th place team.

I agree with Flagg - and think these signings tell you that Rube has a fair bit of money in its transfer kitty. It's conceivable that all of those players won't be at Rube at the start of next season. By acting so quickly and so decisively, though, Rube have made the rest of their market dealings so much simpler. They've not really played over the odds for any of those players - simply on the basis that their previous clubs clearly weren't desperate to hang onto them. And all of those players are decent Serie A players and so will always have a bit of a market within Italy so Rube are almost certain to be able to recoup much of what they've paid. And if they can now use any of those players as bargaining chips in bids to get properly top-class players, then the loss of a million or two here and there is probably a price well worth paying.

Pepe's a hard-working, disciplined, tactically solid player - surround him with some genuine class and a stable team structure and he will be an extremely reliable performer. Great teams aren't built around 11 great individual players. I doubt he's lacking much that players like Park Ji-Sung and Pedro have - other than the rest of the club around him.

Motta will also end up having a solid Serie A career, I believe, though now at least you understand why I wasn't too sad to have lost him at the beginning of the season (though dino, no doubt, put that down to sour grapes at the time). He's got enough pace and power and technical quality to do okay at a smaller club. I also suspect he may get reinvented positionally once or twice - the obvious step would be to play him as a hard-working right-winger; actually, though, I wonder if he might not end up as a central midfielder - either a mezz'ala or a box-to-box player or even a sitting one. Whatever happens, you won't lose more than a couple of mil on him and you might be able to use him as a bargaining chip or get something out of a loan deal for him. I've probably been Motta's earliest critic about these parts, but that doesn't mean you're not going to be able to get most of that money back on another co-ownership deal and one in which you'll be in control.

Matri and Quags are also tidy players and even if they don't work out, they'll be able to be sold for the same sorts of money next season.

All of these deals look to me like ones made by a club which is pretty confident financially and so is prepared to pay a little bit more early in proceedings so that they know exactly where they stand when the negotiations get a bit tougher later in the summer.

Meireles is more mobile, a necessity for playing in a midfield with Pirlo.
