I know neither of them are realistic targets, it's just that they would fit perfectly with our team. G.Rossi to Barca doesn't make all that much sense to me, but I know it will likely happen. He won't be able to overtake any of the front three, not even Pedro. He'll get time when they rotate the squad, but I think he'll be sitting on the bench for extended periods.

If we offload Menez (12m), Doni (3m), Simplicio (3m), Brighi (3m), Cicinho (2m), Taddei (1m), and add Tom's 50m, we get about 75m. I should expect something like this for next season:

What's wrong with being 33? Thats still a prime old age for a centre-half. He's also the best defender we have in our squad at the moment, now that Philippe has moved on. Unless we buy two top-quality centre-halfs Juan will almost certainly be a starter. Lugano is an average defender who is not in the same class as Juan. Kjaer will cost a lot and is still not quite the complete package. I hate talking mercato madness at this stage when we don't even know who owns the club for certain yet alone who the next manager will be, but as I've said before, centre-back is a position I'd be worried about for next season.

Out of context: You guys know why Real MAdrid would want to sign Coentrao for 22 million if they have Marcelo who was a top performer for them this year overcoming defensive issues?

I wouldn't say Marcelo helped them overcome defensive issues at all. He has been a good performer for them and had a good season but more so in going forward and attacking: he is still suspect when it comes to defending. I'd imagine Mourinho wants a more all-round full-back who can bring more balance to his defence.

Having £75m to spend would be sexual (although I'd much rather Menez wasn't sold). I'd still be very surprised if Pastore came here though, Zamparini said that Chelsea have had a 'major offer' for him rejected.

Obviously I'd be delighted if he came here though quality player.

No way we get Pastore, Sanchez or Rossi. The only one we have a very slight chance of getting IMO is Rossi (very slim chance) and that is only if DiB decides to overpay for him thinking that he can recoup that money by merchandise sales in the U.S.

Roma/Sabatini are not targeting established stars. They are targeting young, promising talent ala Lamela, Alvarez, Veratti, etc. i haven't heard much about Sabatini's opinion of Crescenzi but I hope he gets a real chance as a vice-Riise and is brought along as the heir apparent.

Also, don't expect to see Lamela in the midfield part of the 4-3-3. He'll be up front with Totti and ?. Alvarez will be in the midfield with DDR and ?.

Maro, how do you see Pizarro in a 3-man midfield that looks like this:

I agree, Loazzi, I can't see us splashing a huge amount on one of those players. With Rossi, even if we were to match his asking price, he's in talks with Barcelona, and I wouldn't hold out too much hope of him choosing us over them if it came down to it.

I have high hopes for Crescenzi too. He's established himself as the number one for the Azzurrini and is impressing for them, so I see no reason why he can't be vice-Riise (and eventually overtake him when the Ginger one fecks up) for us this season. If the focus is youth, then we have already have some good young players who should be given a chance.

Also, much like Lamela, I thought that Ricardo Alvarez was more of an attacking-midfielder as well who can also play on the wings, so I'm not quite sure if he'd be in a midfield three?

Pizarro won't be around this new season. Not after the way he acted against Ranieri and "faked" his knee injury.. Baldini and Sabatini weren't too pleased about that.

I think he's definitely worth that much except that his wages are like 4 million per year and he's injury prone.
