That was a shame for the player. ON the right team (clearly Roma) he could have had a chance to shine instead his career was killed. I think sphincter intended that, which makes it worse. They didn't need him, but didn't want their opponents to have him.

he's a borriello-type player, but maybe more wasteful in front of goal. roma would have been a good team for him, true.

It's astonishing to me how really stupid some of these players are when choosing a club. Amantino for example. All of us said at the time that he would go to Inter and rot on the bench, never to be heard from again. Was that bad business for Roma? I would say, no. The man elevated himself and his career at Roma, develops a poor attitude, and demands to be transferred. His best friend at Roma, Antonio Cassano, made things extremely difficult for the club, so he really had to go. Even though, at the time, Roma made a pretty generous contract offer. That cash plus Cassano and Mancini in exchange for Chiellini, Miccoli and Maresca deal with rubentus all those years ago looks pretty good in hindsight considering what we ended up getting when those boys left.

I would have to agree with Tommaso on Bovo, Curci, Pepe, and D'Agostino. Bad business, yes. But we need to be honest: Roma is a pretty tough destination for a player because the club is so poorly managed and has no money. A player must accept certain realities at Roma, like, his wages may be months late in coming. Roma has been competitive somehow because of a nucleus of players who had the ability to attract other players. Rarely, if ever, did we see world class talent come to Roma. However, there have been enough good players who fit the system which allowed the team to compete. But I have to say that during the Sensi years Roma probably destroyed one of the finest youth systems in Europe. How this new ownership group will address that aspect of the organization is anybody's guess. Bruno Conti remaining at the club is a must, and he, and he alone can instill some pride and confidence in those kids who want to succeed at Roma. As it stands now, there is quite a depressed atmosphere in our youth system precisely because of how those kids are handled by the club. The attitude is that they will be given no chance to make into the squad, and will probably be loaned out to raise much needed cash. Then, there is the ongoing problem allowing young Romans to be poached by other clubs. Again, how this will be addressed by Di Benedetto is a question mark.

I would quite like Aguero. I'd rather see him in giallorosso than in bianconero next season. I think he'd make a very good partner for Totti up front.

I highly doubt we'd splash €30-40m on Aguero or any player for that matter. Its just too much to spend on one player when there are several positions which need addressing.

won't please Giovanni – Joe Tacopina will arrive in Roma on 1 June to meet up with our management, although for what purpose I'm not quite sure.

De Rossi committed to Roma

Daniele De Rossi has told his Roma teammates that he won’t be leaving the Stadio Olimpico outfit.

The Italian has had a problematic campaign in the capital which led to rumoured interest from a number of foreign sides.

However, according to both La Gazzetta dello Sport and the Corriere dello Sport, the World Cup winner has told his playing colleagues that he is committed to the club.

Real Madrid had renewed their interest in the 28-year-old recently, while Manchester City were also monitoring the situation.

De Rossi, a product of the club’s youth system, has played in over 200 League games for the Giallorossi.

Born and bred in Rome, he is nicknamed ‘Capitan Futuro’ and is expected to follow in the footsteps of Roma idol Francesco Totti.

De Rossi will now start contract talks with the club’s new American owners seeing as he has just over a year left to run on his June 2012 deal.

The Italian international, who was omitted from Cesare Prandelli’s latest squad, reportedly earns around €4m a campaign.

Thats good to see alright, Jeff. To be perfectly honest, I did actually have some doubts and I think there was something behind the talk of him leaving. Its clear he hasn't had a happy few years personally, which is unfortunate, and it has effected his football, and so if he did want a change of scenery it would have been tough to swallow but understandable all the same. But this is great to see, he is our future capitano and a legend of the club, and hopefully he can put all his troubles behind him and get back to his ultimate best.
