Atletico: Aguero not for sale


Atletico Madrid have insisted that Sergio Aguero is not for sale after being linked with a switch to Juventus.

The Italian media has gone into overdrive with stories that Aguero will be signed by the Turin giants after his representatives held talks with the Italians yesterday.

“We are not in negotiations with anyone for Aguero,” stated Atletico official Miguel Angel Gil. “Sergio Aguero is not for sale.”

A report in the Mundo Deportivo newspaper also claims that Juventus made no enquiries about the forward yesterday.

It is possible that the topic of discussion was actually Momo Sissoko, a player who is represented by the same agency as Aguero.

The Mali midfielder is expected to leave the Turin giants at the end of the season after a problematic past campaign.

Juventus are hoping to sign a couple of high profile players this summer in an effort to revive their fortunes.

Juve, who may fail to qualify for Europe, will reportedly replace Gigi Del Neri with Siena boss Antonio Conte at the end of this season.

Moggi: Agnelli wanted Conte



Juventus President Andrea Agnelli made the decision to appoint Antonio Conte for next season, claims Luciano Moggi.

The Siena boss is expected to take over from Gigi Del Neri at the end of this campaign, a switch decided by Agnelli and not director general Beppe Marotta.

“I know that it was Andrea Agnelli himself who chose Conte,” the former Juventus director general said on Thursday.

“He did so by leaving Walter Mazzarri to Napoli. Walter wouldn’t have been able to create the cycle that Juventus are looking for because he is worth the same as Del Neri.”

Moggi has hired a few tacticians in his time and he’s given his blessing to the proposed appointment of the former Bari and Atalanta boss.

“He’s the right choice,” Moggi added. “When I had him as a player he was already a Coach on the field of play. It was clearly a sign that he would develop into a tactician.

“Conte has some innovative ideas. He’s young, he has a past as a player and he’s already demonstrated his value.”

If Giovinco does not come back to Juve, I refuse to watch this team next season as I've done this season. I hope you all didnt waste your time watching these jokers, chokers, and losers playing instead of doing something productive, i. e. watching paint dry. I told you guys since the start of the season, they lacked the killer instinct and crumbled under pressure. They had their opportunites and blew each and every one. I truly believed this team had the talent to at least finish 4th but ai don't think they had the mentality to finish 4th. Where is the problem with that? Sure, DelNeri is somehwat right about what he said but I think the fault lies on him. The mental errors this team made falls on him.

Parma are taking up their option to co-own Giovinco. Unless he shows a great deal of interest in returning, which I don't see a reason for him to do so, he's going to be playing for Parma next season.

Ziegler and Lichsteiner are much more likely to come though. Can't see Aguero, Ribery or Nani giving up CL football and a fat pay cheque for the "Juventus" tag.

Yeah but there is an appeal of playing in Italy, and since Juve doesn't have a European competition to worry about, they can focus on domestic titles. Plus we're moving into a brand new stadium. Our board basically needs to show each of these players that they won't be the only star player signed this summer, and that we have a project moving forward. Not to say that any of this will convince these players but this is the only angle we can approach them with.

Atletico: Juve only club in for Aguero
– May 27, 2011

Atletico Madrid general manager Miguel Angel Marin has moved to futher dampen speculation that Sergio Aguero will join Real Madrid, insisting Juventus are the only club to have shown an interest in the striker. Aguero's futue has been the subject of much debate this week after he revealed on Monday that he would be looking to leave the Rojiblancos after five years at the club.

Atletico's city rivals Real have been touted as the favourites to land Aguero, but Marin stressed on Thursday that there had been no contact with Los Blancos president Florentino Perez. "He (Perez) has told me he has no intention of signing Aguero and I do not doubt him," Marin said. "Firstly due to the good relationship we have personally and secondly due to the clubs' relationship.''

And Marin has now insisted that the only club to have expressed an interest in Aguero are Juventus, though he warned the Bianconeri - who will be unable to offer 'El Kun' Champions League football after finishing seventh in Serie A - that they will have to pay full price to secure the striker's services.

"The only side which I have talked to are Juventus," Marin said. "I have been contacted by the Italian club, they have sent me a letter in which they have asked to negotiate for the player. Last Monday we received a fax from the Bianconeri. They showed their interest, but we will only let Aguero go for €45m - and not a euro less."
