Philippe Mexes says he advised Roma to sell him to Milan last summer – at a stage when they would have received a transfer fee for him.

“I suggested to Roma last year to sell me to Milan,” the player told France Football. “But they didn’t do anything.”

The defender will leave the capital outfit at the end of the season to join the Rossoneri on a Bosman free, seeing as his contract in the Eternal City expires next month.

“I spent some stupendous years in the capital. Rome, for me, is my second home. But I am now arriving at one of the greatest and most successful clubs in the world.

“I’m joining Milan and I’m happy that I am going to be a part of this team for the next four years. I’m proud, especially when I look at the new jersey with the Scudetto shield on it.”

Mexes has been linked with Milan for the past few years, but he insists he only decided to quit Roma over the course of the present campaign.

“I took the decision to leave the Giallorossi during the winter, but Milan were the only Italian club I could join – I couldn’t have moved to another,” he added.

“Had I not come to Milan then I would have moved abroad.

“I’m here to win, the Rossoneri are an elite club in the world game and my objective is the Champions League.”

Mexes is currently recovering from knee ligament surgery and hopes to be ready by the time the 2011-12 campaign kicks off.

i love pirlo, and after Maldini, he is probably my all-time favorite player of all time. (it makes perfect sense).

but damn, i'll miss him. we will never see a player like him at milan ever again. he is one of kind. he was the only player in the world who could make 1 square meter seem like a thousand.

it was a great honor to see him play for milan, and just to see him play. because of his intelligence, i believe that he will return in a technical capacity sooner or later, but man, he was one of the most beautiful players i have ever seen play football, along with Maldini and nesta.

It will be hard to say goodbye to Pirlo, it was a great ride, a Milan legend and a class player and a pillar in Carlo's Milan... even if he goes to Juve, he'll be known always be remembered for his time at Milan man more than Inter or Juve but it is what is, he probably still got something to give but in general, we've had him here for his best years, and it's the right move for this club at this point... I wish him the best (unless he returns to Inter, then he's dead to me)

i agree. a great servant to milan over the years. that said, i don't wish him anything but failure at rube. that goes without saying, though, as i wish nothing but failure on that club.

so now, only ambrosini is left. i have a feeling that he will re-sign as well. although i rather we let him go and get a younger player with a similar style to van bommel.

why would you want to keep ambrosini? he is the most useless of the lot.

I might be on the minority but I feel Ambrosini is more useful to the team than Rino, maybe 6-7 years it was the opposite but things are different now...Ambro and Van Bommel would be the ideal tandem to compete for that holding midfielder spot...similar characteristics with good physical presence, experience, and height, he's also a good leader (unlike Rino) and shown in the past he's clutch, which can come in handy in CL

Secondo quanto riportato da 'Il Corriere della Sera', Antonio Cassano sarebbe intenzionato ad abbandonare il Milan al termine di questa stagione.

Il fantasioso numero 99 rossonero, pare non essersi trovato bene a Milano e più nello specifico nell'ambiente di Milanello, troppo serio ed equilibrato per il suo carattere esplosivo. Entro pochi giorni, dopo aver risolto le questioni riguardanti i rinnovi di contratto dei senatori rossoneri, Adriano Galliani avrà un colloquio con il procuratore del barese, l'avvocato Beppe Bozzo, per discutere la situazione e il futuro dell'attaccante arrivato a Gennaio dalla Sampdoria.

Tra i motivi che spingerebbero 'Fantantonio' a lasciare Milano, ci sarebbe anche la scarsa fiducia in lui di mister Allegri: le due panchine consecutive tra Roma e Cagliari non sono state ben digerite da Cassano, preoccupato di trascorrere una stagione ai margini della squadra, vista la presenza in quel ruolo di giocatori fondamentali come Ibra, Pato e Robinho.

L'obbiettivo di giocare gli europei con la nazionale di Prandelli da titolare, è la massima aspirazione di Cassano, ed il numero 99 non vuole compromettere la possibile convocazione trascorrendo una stagione in panchina. Altro motivo che spingerebbe il talento all'addio, è di carattere famigliare: la mamma Giovanna, ad esempio, a Milano si sente come un pesce fuor d'acqua e non si è mai schiodata da Nervi dove, dopo la retrocessione della Samp, la popolarità di suo figlio è talmente in ascesa, che qualcuno lo vorrebbe addirittura come sindaco della ridente località rivierasca.

A breve il futuro di Cassano verrà deciso, con il Milan che in ogni caso farà un'affare: se il numero 99 rimarrà, la squadra avrà comunque a disposizione il suo straordinario talento, mentre nel caso di un addio, Galliani otterrebbe un'importante plusvalenza a bilancio, visto che il suo arrivo a Milanello non è costato nulla al club di Via Turati.
