I just seen Sampdoria v Fiorentina highlights there, Cassano took his goal and the winner beautifully, very composed and slotted it home nicely. The Cassano of old would of fecked that up for sure trying to be too smart, but he is showing he has really settled into a great player.
So he's apologised and that should be that? Or will the Sampdoria hierarchy refuse his apology, I wonder?
This whole affair seems blown out of proportion to me. We all know that while Cassano has settled down and matured a lot he still remains a bit of a, you know, complete nutjob, and while no one can condone the way he reportedly spoke to the Sampdoria president, I think they should of handled it better and kept it private and worked it out. No one likes to see a player act like that but sometimes they are worth the hassle. Sampdoria need Cassano more than he needs them. He has been on excellent form lately and they can't do without him.
Samp really need to get their shit together and just put the feckin issue to rest and welcome Cassano back into the fold. They are lost without him on the pitch, and whatever sort of a headcase he may be, the bottom line is they need him more then he needs them, so it makes sense all round to just welcome him back. They just can't afford to lose him, and if he does go the knock on effect will just ruin the rest of their season.
Good news for Cassano abd Sampdoria, it looks like, assuming that don't now look to sell him in January anyway. Its crazy to think he hasn't played since late October, and it shows in 'Doria's form lately. They really need to just let this rest and get him back in the feckin team.
Report: Cassano to stay at Samp – Thursday 16 December, 2010
The arbitration panel presiding over Antonio Cassano's contract dispute has apparently recommended he should stay at Sampdoria. Sky Italia claims the Italy international will be reintegrated on January 1 and his wages will also be halved.
Cassano hasn't played since late October when Sampdoria President Riccardo Garrone froze him out of the first team after a heated argument.
A formal announcement has yet to be made, but it's believed that this is one of the verdicts the panel is seriously considering. Cassano has previously intimated that he would do anything to stay at Sampdoria, even if it meant drinking the petrol that made Garrone his fortune.
The 28-year-old has been linked with Milan and Inter in recent weeks, but it appears that they won't be able to snap him up for free.
It remains to be seen whether Sampdoria would immediately place Cassano on the transfer list should the arbitration panel rule in favour of him staying at Marassi.
There are reports Giampaolo Pazzini has signed for Inter and will complete his medical tomorrow. Sampdoria initially rejected an offer of €6m plus full ownership of Jonathan Biabiany, but negotiations have continued throughout today.
According to the latest reports from Sky Sport Italia, a deal has been struck for €13m, Biabiany and youth team prospect Luca Caldirola.
Pazzini’s agent was spotted leaving the Inter transfer headquarters this evening and it’s suggested he signed a four-and-a-half-year contract worth €2.5m per season.
However, Sampdoria director Doriano Tosi also walked out of the meeting with Nerazzurri representatives and was less encouraging.
“We’re a long way away from an agreement. Leave me alone,” he snapped to reporters.
The Nerazzurri are also expected to complete the signing of midfielder Houssine Kharja from Genoa today.
He replaces Sulley Muntari, who is heading to Sunderland.
Sampdoria President Riccardo Garrone insists he had little option but to show Domenico Di Carlo the door.
The tactician was sacked by the Marassi outfit this afternoon after a 3-2 home loss to struggling Cesena – their ninth reverse in the last 13 League games.
“Di Carlo is a good guy, but I couldn’t make any other decision because the results are just not arriving,” Garrone stated.
Di Carlo was replaced by Alberto Cavasin today in what many perceive is just a short-term solution until the summer.
“I don’t know if Cavasin is just here as a ferryman until someone new arrives,” Garrone added. “Results from now until the end of the season will decide that. The results are all that matter.”
Cavasin, a survival specialist, will make his Doria debut at the weekend when the side travel to Catania.
Sampdoria are now just three points above the drop zone.

Serie A Week 29 Catania 1 - 0 Sampdoria Llama 75 (C) Stadio Massimino
Alberto Cavasin's debut on the Sampdoria bench was wrecked by Fernando Tissone's early red card and a stunning Cristian Llama volley.
The Blucerchiati wielded the axe after last week's embarrassing 3-2 home defeat to Cesena, so Cavasin replaced Domenico Di Carlo. Daniele Gastaldello sat out a ban with the injured Stefano Lucchini, Angelo Palombo, Franco Semioli and Nicola Pozzi.
Catania were looking nervous too, as Diego Simeone's arrival has so far failed to improve their fortunes. Marco Biagianti and Rafael Martinho were unavailable for this relegation dogfight.
This fixture had only ever ended in a draw once, back in 1983, along with seven home wins and five losses. Play was extremely difficult under heavy rainfall that left large puddles in some areas of the pitch.
Nicolas Spolli's error let Massimo Maccarone through, but the former Middlesbrough striker ballooned off target with only the goalkeeper to beat.
Fernando Tissone managed to notch up two yellow cards in the opening 23 minutes, leaving Samp with 10 men for over an hour. It was a futile tackle on Pablo Alvarez in midfield, especially considering he'd just been booked.
Laczko couldn't quite get his touch to the Maccarone free kick. Maxi Lopez had the ball in the back of the net for Catania on 33 minutes, but it was disallowed due to a handling offence.
Francesco Lodi's cross-field pass found Marchese for a spectacular volley that whizzed across Gianluca Curci to skim the far top corner. A few centimetres the other way and it would've been very similar to Marco Van Basten's legendary goal.
Catania took the lead in truly spectacular fashion. Lodi whipped a corner to the outside edge of the box, where Cristian Llama hit a perfect left-foot volley that smashed into the top corner.
Gonzalo Bergessio should've had a second in the final minutes, but failed to get his lob over the goalkeeper.
Sampdoria in Serie B, who would of thought it. I'm disappointed to see them go down, I always like to see the traditionally bigger clubs stay in the top flight and make it competitive as possible. But I guess they deserved it. I wonder how much anger will be directed toward their president for selling their two best players and strike-partners in the winter mercato. When that happens, its never good, and it ultimately cost them in the end. I'm sure they'll bounce back up, but disappointing to see them go down.
As far as the spectacle of Serie A goes, it's true that Samp won't be missed. As painful a notion as it is, it is true. Guberti was the only player worth watching for us in the second half of the season, and we essentially tried to grind our way to safety by the end only looking to defend, and not bothering to attack. It is karmic justice really that we're down, as much as I hate to admit it.
At least this releagation will give us an opportunity to cull the rubbish from our squad. Apparently Siena want Maccarone back, thankfully. Cesena might take Pozzi too, although I think he could be decent in Serie B, despite being average at Serie A level. We'll lose Guberti unfortunately, but hopefully Palombo will stay loyal, as with him leading us, promotion straight back up should be a realistic goal. Even our highly rated youngsters, the like of Poli and Ziegler, to me flatter to deceive. They might have the ability, but when it comes to delivering on the pitch, I'm not sure they have the mentality, or bottle if you will, to get things done. Going back to basics could actually do us some good.
Serie A Week 38 - 22/5/11 (19.45 UK) Roma 3 - 1 Sampdoria Mannini 26 (S), Totti 30 (R), Vucinic 70 (R), Borriello 85 (R) Stadio Olimpico
Roma fought back from a shock early goal to end their season with a victory and a place in the Europa League.
The Giallorossi knew a point would guarantee a place in the Europa League against already-relegated Sampdoria. Last season Samp won here 2-1 to effectively destroy Scudetto hopes, so there was still a little tension. Simone Perrotta returned from suspension, though Daniele De Rossi was still out with the injured Matteo Brighi, Philippe Mexes, Juan and Marco Cassetti.
Sampdoria's disastrous campaign limped to an end with home defeat to Palermo last week and mathematical relegation. Franco Semioli, Federico Macheda, Daniele Gastaldello and Stefano Lucchini missed this trip.
Francesco Totti fired wide from a David Pizarro chipped pass, then Rodrigo Taddei's effort was charged down.
Simone Loria got a glancing header to a free kick that skimmed the far post from close range.
Sampdoria took a shock lead at the Olimpico with their first chance! Bogdan Lobont only parried a blockbuster from Reto Ziegler from 30 metres out, so Daniele Mannini was quickest to react.
Totti got the game back on track with the equaliser. He gathered from Perrotta just inside the box and performed a couple of dummies to put Laczko off, creating space for his fierce angled drive.
Roma had penalty appeals when Mirko Vucinic ran into the box, but the ball ricocheted off Massimo Volta's chest and then his arm.
Sampdoria came out fighting for the second half and Angelo Palombo hit a missile of a free kick from 30 metres that Lobont beat away with some difficulty.
Nicolas Burdisso couldn't keep his header from a Pizarro free kick under control, then a Vucinic curler skimmed the bar. The Blucerchiati were still in the running too and Palombo drilled off target from distance.
Totti blasted wide from a promising position, but Vucinic got Roma in front for the first time with his 10th of the season. Totti's through ball sent him down the left of the box, but the Montenegro international needed a clever dummy to commit the defender's sliding tackle, creating the space to fire in at the near post.
Marco Borriello rounded out the scoreline in the final minutes, but it was mainly Totti's work. Il Capitano unleashed an amazing screamer of a free kick from 30 metres that whacked Da Costa in the chest, so Borriello tapped in on the rebound.
Jonathan Biabiany had the chance to pull one back in the final minute only to drill wide.
Welcome to the forums, Cassanata. Its a pity it has to be at a time when Sampdoria at down in Serie B – and that MI has to move this thread to the Lega Serie B Clubs section, all by its lonesome. I was one of the few, it seems, who was disappointed to see Samp get relegated, and like I said its nice to see the traditionally bigger clubs stay in the top flight and make it competitive as possible. But in the end, I suppose, they didn't deserve it, and trying to survive with the loss of selling your two best players was just too much to bare. What is the general feeling amongst your tifosi toward your President Garrone? Do most blame him for your relegation?
As for your players, Ziegler is out of contract, is he not, so will most likely leave? Poli is a good young player but he perhaps didn't have the breakout season that most expected him to have, but hopefully you can hold on to him. Likewise Palombo, you would imagine he will remain loyal and stay with you, despite a lot of interest which will no doubt come in his direction. Guberti has been impressive this season, I agree – he still on a co-ownership with Roma, isn't he? I actually wouldn't mind seeing him back with us, to be honest. Volta is another player I like, a tough, no-nonsense defender. I think you should still have the squad to be competitive in Serie B and bounce straight back-up.
By the way, you may not want to look at the video in the . Just to warn you incase you look there.
