Report: Seedorf waiting for Milan to make offer

MILAN (AP)—Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf has said he is still waiting to hear if AC Milan wants to extend his contract beyond the end of the season.

“The club asked us to wait until we had won the title and that’s what we did,” Seedorf told Thursday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport. “Now we want clarity and respect. You don’t treat flag bearers of this club like this.”

The 35-year-old Seedorf joined Milan from Inter Milan in 2002 and wants to remain with the club.

“I’m not feeling good, that is for certain,” Seedorf said. “My relationship with (club president Silvio) Berlusconi is clear, but it is (vice president Adriano) Galliani who looks after these things.

“I’ve spent half of my career here. My rapport with Milan has not changed.”

Milan have a Scudetto party this evening and Adriano Galliani confirms “over the next few days we’ll meet all the players for contract negotiations.”

The Rossoneri’s season is effectively over, as they clinched the title last week and crashed out of the Coppa Italia semi-final against Palermo.

This evening they welcome Cagliari to San Siro in their first home game since being crowned Serie A champions, so the time has come to put an end to uncertainty in the squad.

“We have an appointment with Clarence Seedorf over the next few days and we’ll meet all the players for contract negotiations,” Vice-President Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.

“From Monday we will begin to meet with everyone to define the various situations. I think I made the right decision, choosing not to talk about this before the Scudetto victory.”

Among the players who could leave on free transfers in the summer are Alessandro Nesta, Andrea Pirlo, Flavio Roma, Pippo Inzaghi, Seedorf, Mark Van Bommel and Massimo Ambrosini.

Good game considering everything, I'm starting to warm to the new jersies but I think it's too red and the white trims is too much as well, but it sure looks better with the scudetto on it

Next week is absolutely critical for us, while I have no doubts Milan will clear the deadwood in defence for the most part, it's intriguing to see what the club does with the vetran midfield quartet (Ambro, Rino, Pirlo and Seedorf) ...I'm worried about the fact they all looked pretty good lately (even Pirlo in his few appearances) so I hope Galliani doesnt fuck it up and consider all is good with them, he needs to think of Milan's best interest first and foremost and that calls for some changes and some fresh blood in midfield, I'd be OK with keeping 2 of the lot but not more than that

emanuelson looked damn amazing yesterday. he doesn't have the calm and composure of seedorf, but he can make that left midfield spot his own if he keeps playing like that.

and it's funny how the addition of one energetic midfielder (boateng) changed everything for us this season (among other factors of course). galliani needs to continue this way and get midfielders with lots of energy, that's the way football is evolving and it's also the reason italian football is stagnating.

Oh nice, the Rossonero jersey looks like a perfect fit for him..he did say he requested a transfer from Roma since last summer, not sure why on earth Roma didn't cash in on him when he was still under contract

I want Seedorf for one more year, I say he's got a good chance of staying, Van Bommel is a certainity...I read somewhere that Galliani is offering only ONE year deals, so Pirlo's as good as gone if u ask me...but the fact that Galliani is finally showing the necessary prudence to deal with extensions (both salaries and length) is welcome indeed, as much as he earned the shit coming his way the between 2006-2010 or so, he's rebounded quite nicely for us so credit to him to recognizing his mistakes
