Nice interview with Crescenzi from Corriere dello Sport who says he dreams of coming back to Roma to be 'vice-Riise'. This is a good example of how I'd ideally like to see us develop a mixture of our youth and new signings next season to build a competitive squad. I've been impressed with Crescenzi when I've seen him play the odd time for Crotone and the Azzurrini and I think he is ready to be a vice Riise. He's also a versatile full-back and has played a good few games this season on the right-hand side, so he would be a useful option to have.

Ciao Giallorossi93, welcome to the forums. I think Riise will be our starting left-back next season solely on the basis that there are more urgent positions which need to be filled before we look at replacing him. Our priorities will be a new centre-half (assuming Mexes leaves), a new goal-keeper, a new attacking-midfielder and possibly even a new right-back. I knew Di Benedetto said he would like to sign five or six players but I don't think that particular means five or six starters. Plus, in fairness to the ginger cnut, I don't think he's actually been too bad, and with Crescenzi hopefully in the mix we should be alright.

Yeah there is definitely weaker areas that need fixing. I suppose I am just being hard on him. Having said that he has shown some glimpses of brilliance this season (his tackle against Lazio springs to mind). Hopefully we make the right signings and don't end up with five or six Adriano's haha. Also hopeful we can hang on to all our 'talent'. I don't want an entire new Roma built over the course of one summer.

What's your take on the Borriello situation? I've heard that signing him is compulsory but I've also seen reports of him going to the likes of Juventus and back to Genoa.

Yeh I think signing Borriello for €10.5m is set in stone (to be paid for by UniCredit) alright and not up for debate, but I'd imagine there'd be nothing stopping us from shipping him off on a similar loan with an option to buy or co-ownership deal in the summer if he wanted to go or our new manager wanted rid of him. I like him as a punta, but no big deal if he does go.

Its all mercato madness at the moment though, I wouldn't really take anything I see in the media with all that much sincerity, there's still so much that can change between now and the start of mercato time: CL football/new owners/new manager.

I like the guy but I'm not to sure if he will fit into our 'system' next year.
It seems since the news of the takeover we are linked with five new players a day. Today i read Song from Arsenal and Abel Hernandez from Palermo. I'm trying not to get excited about any of the rumors. Needless to say this summer is going to be insane.

So tomorrow is the BIG day. The heads of Unicredit have landed in my home town of Boston and a meeting is scheduled for tomorrow morning. That's lunchtime in Italy and a hour earlier for us in GMT. If there are no hitches the papers should be signed and Roma will have a new president. Seems the CEO of Unicredit will first meet with Jim Pallotta. He appears to be DiBenedetto's number 2 and he is the co-owner of the Boston Celtics. A somewhat successful basketball team.
The Italian press is arriving in Boston as well so it should be quite a circus. I kinda wish I was there to be honest. I could have been the forums roving reporter. Oh well.

i think we'll be keeping Riise as LB for at least a couple seasons. despite being suspect this season, he has redeemed himself when he pushed up in offense to put in those wonderful crosses. he does get confused in defensive situations when teams swap play between flanks but i would suggest that he be forgiven, given how poor our defense has been since the end of the Spalletti era.

Rather than talk of that sale thingy i'd rather focus on our game tomorrow (we're the anticipo). Its quite important. Every game is a must win but this really is a must win. Nothing less than three points is acceptable at the end of this game and it would be quite typical of us not to achieve that after our miracle in Udine last week. And with the lazie away to Catania – a tough place to go to, especially when they've just won their Derby 4-0 – and Udinese away to Napoli, it become even more crucial. It doesn't matter how it is done, who plays where and who plays well, all that matters is that we win. And I don't want us to sit back if we go one or even two up and look to defend a lead, as with Loria and Burdisso at the back we're quite likely to concede a stupid goal or three late in the game, so we must keep attacking and bang in a few.

Spotted this on ForzaRoma, looks like the Roma Club Norvegia are busy again, this time to follow the sale of the club. Apparently they also had Don Simon from with them as well, as he is a journalist, he's the Simon mentioned in this article. Al, does Simon work for you?
