It is funny how Giovinco is not even considered for the LM position. It is funny how players like Montolivo, Nocerino, and Gastaldello aren't good enough to play for Juventus, but they are better than all the players we have in their positions.

Anyone think Del Neri is going to be on the bench next season? We need a big name coach to lead us into the new stadium, but I can't think of too many available ones. Capello is going to coach England to Euro 2012, Ancelotti is committed to Chelsea, and if he were to leave, Roma would be a more appealing option, especially considering his juve past and that he flipped off our fans. The only coach I would want is coaching the Azzurri. The only appealing option left to me is Mazzarri, he's doing an amazing job at Napoli, BUT so was Del Neri at Samp, even though he wasn't competing for the scudetto, So I'm left very confused.

I don't see why Giovinco can't play an advanced LM role. I prefer him as a straght trequarista, but I think he can play a Ribery-type role in a 4-4-2.

I agree with Mazzari. He is a coach i've supported since his work at Reggina. His strikers always produce (which is a good sign) and he usually out coaches the other tactician. I am all for a Mazzarri move. There is no way Del Neri is, or has ever been, the right guy.

That's an interesting comparison with Ribery. I think, probably, on paper one would be most likely to call Bayern's formation a 4-2-4 given the starting positions their wide players take up and the amount of defensive work they're called on to do. And clearly it's done them okay on a number of fairly important occasions. I wonder, though, if the imbalances of that kind of formation wouldn't get found out over the course of a long season in Italy - as, indeed, they've been found out over the course of a few recent seasons in Germany.

In all sorts of ways, Mazzari's record is much better than Delneri's was, flagg.

The Ribery comparison doesn't work for me, because Giovinco isn't as physical as Ribery, and can't support his LB. Plus I think a 4-3-3 suits the midfielders we have, better than a 4-4-2. But I think we need a comanding CM, which i think you've been suggesting for a while now. Palombo would be a good choice imo, especially since he's Italian and proven in serie A.

Mazzari's record being better than Del neri's (all seasons coached being considered) is debatable.
